I have spoken. . . erm, backed.

Mando in Beskar armor (hopefully rocking the signet), Baby Yoda, and the Razor Crest all in one shot. :good:

It'd be nice if they add a few more accessories, but I'm cool if this is what we get.

Nice!

This IS the way.

Chris

I'm trying to figure out if I'll ever be able to remove this thing from the box, I don't even have space for all the Valks I want to display so I'm good with a smaller sized ship even if it's not perfectly to scale.

But I really like the Razor Crest design, between this and watching the ILM video that was posted in another thread I am desperate for someone like Bandai to release detailed toys (like their models) to 1/72 or similar scale.

Someone over at Starshipmodeler said the dimensions Hasbro stated for the Razorcrest toy would make it around 1/33. Practically the standard large aircraft scale of 1/32. Lots of parts would be available for anyone who would want to scratch build an in scale crew and stuff. ;)

Yeah, there was a guy who was building an accurate 3.75” scale Falcon, and it was pretty massive (makes the BMF look tiny in comparison).

That was me.

The problem with Hasbro's Falcon toys (and Kenner's before them) is that different sections are at different scales, which completely throws off the overall proportions and makes scale largely irrelevant.  Many other vehicles suffer from the same problem, the AT-ATs and Y-Wings in particular.  <_<

I don't see a scale-accurate AT-AT in my future, but the Y-Wing is becoming a reality:

Tekering, that Y-Wing looks AWESOME! I’d totally want one!

Since The Mandalorian is popular and great I understand why they chose the Razorcrest as the next Star Wars Haslab release.  If Hasbro didn’t recently rerelease the BMF again then I would have wanted a true 1/18 scale Millennium Falcon for the next Haslab release.  Maybe in the near future.

Looking over that thread link again, a true 1/18 scale MF would be a monster.  The sheer size of it would probably be a detractor.

Plus, there’s a bunch of challenges that would have to be solved where the interiors don’t exactly mesh with the ship’s exterior.

And to get anywhere close to the level of detail that rouge1 was putting into his custom, I’m scared to ask what Hasbro’s asking price would be.

Ok, yeah that would just be huge.  If the ship in 1/72 is 19 inches long, that puts 1/18 at a little over 6 feet.  That's bigger than the ESB film model. :p

Amazing Build, scratch, or 3D printed?  How big is it?  It seems just a little short.

Neither, actually.  It's a studio-scale resin kit I've made extensive modifications to.

The full-sized Y-Wing prop was a little undersized -- not as much as the Falcon set, mind you -- but that's what I've based the measurements on.

Curious how your custom looks compared to the shelled up Hasbro Clone Wars version.

Does the Clone Wars one still look undersized or somewhat “passable”?

So after unboxing the 501st ARC’s and messing with them, here’s my impressions.

CON’s:

* The weapons are definitely a bit rubbery and more “bendy” than previous versions.

* The chest armor/shoulder pauldrins piece does tend to move around a lot.

* Leg movement is definitely hindered by the plastic kama skirts.

* Jesse’s helmet shouldn’t have the fin and drop-down sensor on it.

PRO’s:

* Each figure is loaded for bear, sporting dual pistols, a blaster, and a rifle.

* Paint apps on the faces and helmets are spot on.

* Even though they’re the same mold, Hasbro did more than enough with the paint apps to make each ARC have his own unique look.

* Each figure is articulated to the hilt, including ball hinged wrists, rocker ankles, and ball hinged hips.

* Although it’s a little hard to get to and move (without also moving the ball hinge hip joint), the figures also have an additional swivel joint, where the upper white thigh armor meets the black part of the legs.

* The blaster can be mounted to the backpack, and the rifle can also be squeezed onto the backpack in two spots, allowing you to store all the weapons on the figure and/or change their layout a bit.

TIPS AND CUSTOM TOUCHES:

* When removing the helmet, I’ve found pinching the helmet just a little bit from the front and back helps to make taking it off a little easier.

* In order to be more screen accurate, I trimmed the fin off Jesse’s helmet and cut off, thinned out, and then repainted the drop-down sensor.

* If wanting to get wider stances and poses with the legs, you can try cutting the bottom straps (that make an “X”) from the skirt.  I only cut one strap on one figure, but it did allow for a wider A stance:

I'd say "passable" is accurate...

Sure it was intended as Beskar, and I agree. But I'm sure there'll be another variant down the line with the shiny bits.

Tekering---will you be doing the "Red Jammer" scheme on your Y-wing?   (if it's based on the studio kit I'm thinking of, I believe that's the original source---every Y-Wing's unique, as I'm sure you know)

I can't believe Hasbro's gonna sell me another Boba Fett figure...

Probably.  I'm quite fond of that one... and it'll match the "Vintage Collection" scheme on the toy I'm replacing.  :spiteful:
