Can someone around here explain to me the difference, if any, between the 6 inch Black Series stuff and the "Archive" figures? I have a few Black Series that I like and would like to get a few more, I'm just confused now that I see the "Archive" packaging.

The "Archive" figures are just older Black Series figures repackaged.  They've got superior paint app's, for the most part, but they're otherwise the same figures as previously released.

Pretty much what was mentioned about Black Series and Black Series Archive.

I’ll be getting this as well.

YES!!!  Wish it was bigger too.

Given how Bandai released the 1/144 Falcon well before the Perfect Grade kit, I cant help but wonder if they aren't testing the market with the more affordable versions while they work on those kits in larger scales... To be released at a later date if the market reciprocates.

If that's actually their gameplan, I hope it doesn't backfire spectacularly from how insanely tiny the "affordable" kits are.

How many people who actually would shell out spectacular amounts of money for a centerpiece display kit are completely passing on these because they're too small to even see amongst their other display pieces?  It's a freaking super star destroyer.  There's nothing remotely impressive or imposing about a 7.5 inch arrowhead.  It'll be dwarfed by even the A-wing kits I've built, because of how long and skinny it is.  I would want something that substantial in the Star Wars universe to have some presence..

A 1/144 Falcon is still a nice size in-hand.  The fighters in that scale are reasonable for displaying alongside it, but they're quickly driving these down from the category of "display model" and we're landing on "knick-knack."  Great if you want a ton of little bitty things to decorate your office workspace with, but absolutely useless if you're after something to actually display.

I know empty space is at something of a premium in Japan, but things like that 4-inch Tantive IV and this kit feel like an insult to the subject matter.

At 1,080 yen, that's cheap.  Guess it's part of their mini collection?

Man, this was a real pain to get into Japan...

Ok that's close to studio scale!

Very close, in fact...

s3-img-l-png.943100

Assuming the original barge model (above) was built at 1:24 scale, as ILM consistently scaled most of their vehicles, the Haslab toy is the same size... meaning (as always) it's not quite to scale with all the action figures it's intended for...

Ideally, the Khetanna toy should be at least a foot longer... but even at 1:24 scale, it's more accurately-sized than most of Hasbro's Star Wars vehicles.  :unknw:

Sorry for the pic spam, but... no amount of pictures could do the interior justice!

The sculpting, paint work, and detail is beyond anything I've seen on a Star Wars toy.

That might be the best replica I've seen of the ship. I know Hot Toys teased a 1/6 cockpit. I know another company that I can't remember fairly recently showed a scale version that I think was a cutaway or something clever. Master Replicas made one too.

Oh my.....when is it out? How to order it? Should i stop all macross and just splash out on this one falcon?

Where are they displaying it? Looks like in a sci-fi lab of sorts!

So many questions!

I thought that kit was one of those "build-a-kit" magazine subscriptions, and that it was released a long time ago?  Is this one a re-release of it?

I absolutely don't have the room for a prop/model that big, but I'm also absolutely taking notes on the layout and proportions for a potential computer sim model. :)

It is/was. Old news really unless this is a rerelease with everything all at once. That would be extremely expensive. The subscription build started a few years ago.

I met a guy last week end at the austin comic con that is building that kit.  It's phenomenal.  Very inspiring, makes me want to get to work on my PG Millennium Falcon.

Your 3.75 collection is insane. Which one would you say is the best/definitive X-wing to have?

tekerin.jpg

The eFX studio-scale X-Wing is the closest to definitive at this scale...

X-WINGDisplay.jpg

...but it retailed for $1200 a decade ago (and often fetches much higher prices on the secondary market nowadays), so...

Review_DeathStarTrenchRun01.jpg

This TRU exclusive from 2011 is the most accurate toy of Luke's Red Five, as it features a detailed cockpit with targeting computer:

cockpit.jpg.ab7628bef42043bbd0770e2d534acdab.jpg

...and a proper cover panel for the front landing gear...

899021130_gearcover.jpg.0fdc9ba0ac9547cb9052955d9269b201.jpg

...but the paint job is much too clean, with very little weathering evident.

Review_XwingFighterTVC02.jpg

The Vintage Collection release from 2013 (the one you asked about in my picture above) features the same sculpt as the "Death Star Trench Run" exclusive, with a nicer paint job:

144047928_TVCX-Wing.jpg.45e1358c1d92aac6676285b538f59066.jpg

...but the markings indicate this is Red Three, Biggs' X-Wing.

168190005_DagobahX-Wing.jpg.bee679ac0cec96655f9914c399ead934.jpg

The nicest-looking Red Five is, in my opinion, this Dagobah release with diorama packaging.  While it lacks the detailed cockpit of later releases, all that muddy seaweed can be lifted off to reveal a beautifully-weathered paint job underneath.

Wedge.jpg.219674b293c51f92604779b8d9af9697.jpg

When it comes to accessories, though, Wedge's X-Wing takes the cake.  It includes access ladders, an astromech droid, and a gorgeous, super-articulated pilot figure.

404430359_Wedgefigure.jpg.003901b321e64671428a188ea3dc760a.jpg

Finally, there's Garven Dreis' Red Leader, sporting a very consistent paint job:

1403562026_RedLeaderpaint.jpg.88a49179b135c99c3e15fe53d70b8c6c.jpg

The pack-in figure is horribly dated, however.

dated.jpg.bd160a64ee8dcc13db3539888cb4cdcd.jpg

Pretty much any release older than this is too poorly-proportioned or painted to bother with.
