Since getting the 31A last week I couldn’t resist and bid on a used YF-30 just because I liked the shape of the 31A fighter mode so much. Bandai can have direct access to my bank to draw funds the day they announce a Chronos in 31A color scheme... I feel like Bandai already has a direct lifeline injected into me, draining my life in exchange for plastic crack. Quote
VF-18S Hornet Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 Got this in exchange for the Kairos that I paid for. It was at a higher price but I bargained for it to be lowered to the same price as the Kairos since Bandai hasn't honored them by sending the Kairos. Which was the reason I decided to get it at Anime Export and go for the Kai, so I got what I paid for. Lolicon Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Reassembled my PF 0S. Wanted to keep the brand new factory fresh look this time around. Still need to work on the leg armors and missiles, but she's basically done now. Quote

Do you use a light box or is this a more sophisticated studio setup? I was thinking of getting the amazon basics portable studio for taking shots of my valks, but not sure if it has a black background option. Thanks @rdrunner! I made a custom made studio light box for myself. Are looking at this? https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-EP53-010723-Portable-Photo-Studio/dp/B01GIL6EU4/. If so my friend that has one, he really likes it and his shots look good. I have been considering getting one myself for some quick shots. I used Flory's for some of it, but there were a lot of parts where the lines were too shallow for a wash. Even drawing them in by hand using a mechanical pencil was a challenge. Quote

gochow Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I've been using a 0.03mm Copic Multiliner on the Arcadia/Yamato v2 valks. Like this one. The ultrafine point makes it much easier to get in there. Quote

The issue isn't getting into the lines though, it's that some of the lines are so shallow as to be almost non-existent, so getting a wash in there is impossible and even drawing by hand is super hard. Anyway, one more for the road! Roy's rides, or Meet the Fockers. Quote

borgified Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Your pic of the v.2 1/60 Hikaru @Slave IV makes me want to open my my copy of the 1/48 Hikaru and add on the Super/Strike parts which are still in the respected boxes and take snaps of it (only opened up and checked for all contents when it got sent to YVR). I never got a VF-0S and would love to decal one up like that too, but I can't justify the crazy prices right now for a Premium Finish version. Congrats! Quote

I used some leftover Hasegawa decals from a previous project. It would have been no problem to scan, scale them up to 1/60, and print them, but the size difference is so little that I didn't bother. My homemade decals tend to be noticeably thicker and not as crisp as the professionally made ones. Not Yamato sticker thick, but you can tell the difference. Quote

borgified Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 Took out the 1/48 Strike Hikaru from the box added Strike/Supers (sans missiles and sunburnt) and the fully decked out 1/60 Yammie SV-51 Nora for comparisons. In my eyes, the 1/48 looks more in scale with the Sukhoi SU-27 (on which the 51 is based on). Quote

Saburo Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 (edited) So I found one of my old digital cameras, Sony Cybershot DSC-W100 from 2006 with 8.1mp. Spoiler Compared to my current camera this thing is ancient, so I decided to take a few shots with it. Here are a couple of shots, it still holds up pretty well. Not Macross but thought I'd share it here. Edited July 9, 2018 by Saburo Quote

Regrettably, I’m missing all the components but I love seeing all the great pics people share. Quote

Lolicon Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 I wanted to work on something besides a VF-1, but then I looked at all my old TV white Yamatos and thought "man I need to finish them before they all go yellow like Hikaru" and so this is the beginning my of efforts to fix up all my TV VF-1s before they yellow. One down and like 8 more to go! Quote
seti88 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Man i wish bandai considers releasing a 1/48 TV Max after hikaru instead. Nice pics everyone, this thread always makes me want to splurge! Quote
Slave IV Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Amazing work as usual @Lolicon! Man, considering Max is my favorite character, I really need of of those. I doubt Bandai will give it to us in their new DX line anytime soon but Arcadia could. Quote
