RogueTrooper Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Almost finished the Dark Bird and Alaska Base in 1/144 scale. Was meant to finsih these about a year ago but got distracted by other models. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 FYI....For those of you hardcore Star Wars fans out there....Starshipmodeler.com has 5 of the FineMolds 1:72 Scale Millennium Falcons back in stock for $215.00...I just grabbed one...(I must need professional help....) Quote
valhary Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I restart my 1/48 upgrade Hasegawa parts Quote
derex3592 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) Can't say this was a very happy moment yesterday......you know..I knew trying these old Ban Dai kits was gonna be hard as they SUCK ASS compared to modern kits, but I was holding out hope that I could manage it....apparently not. Cheap P.O.S. plastic..and painting it has been a nightmare... Oh well....here's hoping at some point Toynami releases a 1:100 Glaug. No hope for this one I don't think...I officially give up. Onwards and upwards to my Moebious Galactica! Edited December 18, 2011 by derex3592 Quote

505thAirborne Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Thats one sexy bird monticaa, especially the landing gear!! Still I'd say add the pilot and make it look even better than it is now! Quote

505thAirborne Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Just installed the LED lighting kit to my Moebius Galactica & some PE parts, overall its looks awesome but still have some gaps to fill and detailing! Great way to spend a Snowy day. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 started on my Galactica kit last night. What a great kit! pratically had all the sub assemblies built in 4 hrs..decided to add some of my leftover SDF-1 photoetch parts to the totally plane interior of where the landing bays retract into..just to give a little detail in that area..looks good! Will post a pic later. Quote

derex3592 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 (edited) Yeh, for sure. Saved myself $25 bucks on the ones they make for it...and I prob would screw those up anyways... here's my solution...once it's painted and i do a wash over it, should do the job. electric indigo Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Looks cool. Paint the interior in a darker tone than the rest of the ship and you're done. I highly recommend eliminating that nasty gap where the insets meet the hull parts with putty as it will jump right into your eye otherwise. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 already on that. noticed it when I test fitted the parts. thanks! Quote
electric indigo Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I'm not impressed by the quality of the decals, they're pretty stiff and immune to my decal softener, so I decided to paint the colonial emblem. Another plus was that I could use pale gold paint there. The emblem is pretty shattered by the panel trenches, but it's enough that something's there. Also, big city lights on the lower decks: They give a nice sense of scale. Quote
Reïvaj Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 [...] They give a nice sense of scale. They really do. Great job so far! Quote
505thAirborne Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Still have a ways to go, but the "Bucket" is getting there! Decals, cannons and others. Quote
Cesar Enrique Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Nice 505thAirborne, you added LEDs to your space ship, I also added micro LEDs to the VF-1J Battroid 1/72, wich I am finishing right now. Here´s a test : Quote
505thAirborne Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Thanks Cesar! The LED's were not as hard as thought they would be to install, its looks awesome at night all lit up! And might I say your VF-1J is one of the best looking 1/72's I've seen in a long time and LED's really make it superb. Quote
big F Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 (edited) Cesar, just out of interested where you put the batteries for the LED's on the 1/72, they look great. Hands up who's gonna be gluing and painting come Christmas day when T.V gets boring and everyone else falls asleep ? Edited January 16, 2012 by big F Quote
Noyhauser Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Probably me: What I'm currently working on.... Quote

derex3592 Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 (edited) Photoetch BSG fun on Xmas day! ..... ps...those two runway decals suck to get down right.... Edited December 25, 2011 by derex3592 Quote

505thAirborne Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 (edited) Photoetch BSG fun on Xmas day! ..... ps...those two runway decals suck to get down right.... I wondered how those PE parts were to be used. And yes the runway decals are pretty bad. On my decal sheet the Starboard landing bay was ok, but the Port bay with the museum windows cracked and ripped. I had to get creative. Edited December 26, 2011 by 505thAirborne Quote
derex3592 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 yeeehhhh.....upon reflection, the girders seemed like a cool idea but the fact is, I should have listened to Electric Indigo and not bothered. Lot of work for ZERO effect. Can't see em. At all. Maybe if you light it. Oh well, good practice folding PE parts! Quote
