Chas Posted Sunday at 07:48 PM Posted Sunday at 07:48 PM I'll say it again that is a thing of beauty NB4M! It's the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost of 1:55s. Can't remember if you mentioned it before, so I'll ask : what paint scheme are you planning on laying down? And whichever you choose do you planning to do the whole vermillion squad in the future? Don't have pics of anything I've been working on, but have been doing some 'work on the bench'. Namely, cleaning my airbrushes. Don't know how many of you know, but another hobby of mine is audio, more specifically analouge audio. I'm one of those people who refused to switch to CDs back in the late 80's early 90's and just kept buying records - untill they stopped pressing them. I have about 800 or so records and a couple of years ago I got a 6L ultrasonic tank with a spindle and motor attachment for cleaning my records. It works a treat. The other day I realized that if I filled the tank with some LAs Totally Awesome All Purpose Cleaner ( which is a great paint remover), I could use it to thoroughly clean my airbrushes. So today is the day. I've done 2 so far. Disassembled cleaned and reassembled, and man I gotta say, it is awesome! They look brand new, and spray like that too. I highly recommend an ultrasonic cleaner they are so useful. You don't need any 6L tank for airbrushes, something smaller would be fine and likely cheaper, but boy do they do a great job. Quote

Papa Rat Posted Monday at 12:36 AM Posted Monday at 12:36 AM (edited) @Big s you’re onto something about Alclad under other colors. I put a clear purple over some Alclad Chrome and it has a really nice effect. Thanks for the heads up. Edited Monday at 12:37 AM by Papa Rat Quote

Yeah, alclad looks amazing under other clear color or under clear plastics like the backing of clear sensors or headlights. It’s one of those things that often looks absolutely amazing in person, but can be really hard to photograph to show others how great it turns out Quote
Thom Posted Monday at 02:29 AM Posted Monday at 02:29 AM (edited) On my table is a bit of conversion work. Over the years I have managed to get a hold of two of the old Monogram F-16XL kits, and have thought about putting them together. Now there is an F-16 GB going on Britmodeller and so I offered that up for the sacrifice. After a false start where I ruined inscribing the kits raised lines (and discovered that said lines were fictitious anyway) I restarted with cutting out the kit's nose and central body and replacing them with one cut out from a D-model Hasegawa kit. (The first try was with a Tamiya CJ, but the sublime detail on that is really too good for the Monogram parts and that brand new kit will now be a part's mule for the build.) So yeah, three kits going into one, as I will be using the Tamiya cockpit/gear and wells/burner can in a Hasegawa body mated up to Monogram XL wings... Gonna be a Frankenplane. What would that be called? Tamasegram? Hasamiyamon? Montamegawa..?) Anyhoos... Parts cut and inserted and waiting for clean-up and refining. (...pssst, and repositioning the gun further back...) Thom Before you finish up that chop job, make sure to check where the parts wound up on the new fuselage, since the XL was several feet longer, and it might mess with where things line up. Will be really fun to see it though, I don't think anyone ever made a kit of the two-seater variant. Edited Monday at 05:42 AM by Chronocidal Quote
F18LEGIOSS2 Posted Monday at 05:07 PM Posted Monday at 05:07 PM I've made these hinges with leftover sprues for my gakken ride armor, stay tuned Quote

Wish I could say I was trailblazing!😄 https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/builds/rm/build_rm_5206.shtml As to parts placement, I'm just worried the big items, like the gun muzzle and the placement of the main gear well. The Tamiya kit is going to donate the new muzzle and I'll have to cut a hole for it along the back edge of the canopy on the Hase nose, and I'm thinking, after having cut off the rear of the Hasegawa's lower fuselage, that I can put it in all-in-one without needing to cut it up any further. Then it'll be a few sessions of cleaning up the new joins.🤣 Quote

Thom Posted Monday at 09:37 PM Posted Monday at 09:37 PM Another cool build coming across the Desk of @pengbuzz! Quote
Papa Rat Posted Tuesday at 03:44 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:44 PM Just finished up this fancy lad last night. It’s the first of the VSMS series, 1:100 Daccas The Black Knight. It was a super fun build for me and had a blast trying out some new paints. Quote
Chas Posted yesterday at 01:48 AM Posted yesterday at 01:48 AM (edited) Hey now! that looks really good. Nice choice of paint colours @Papa Rat I gotta say though with all the black and holding the sword like a cane I kind wish he had a monocle on a chain and was doing a little soft shoe. lol! I finally got back to building at my bench (well really just painting 'cus I did the initial assembly a while ago). I've always preferred Max's VF-1J scheme to his VF-1A, so when I ordered the new PlayMax 72nd scale 1 J I got two so I could build one as Max's machine. This is the first go at the base colour ( a custom mix), so no detail painting and not cleaned up yet. I'm pretty happy with it overall. Maybe needs another coat to get it right, but so far I like the look of it. First pic is within flash 2nd without. All the white is bare plastic as I went with no primer on this one. I traced the decals from the kit (Hikaru's 1J) to make the masks for Max's white stripes. (Just an FYI: as I said this is the Hikaru 1J kit and that white stripe on the fuselage below the canopy on Hikaru's ride is red, but there is no decal for that in the kit nor is one referenced in the instructions. The finished pictures on the box and in the instructions show the stripe, but there is no decal for it.) Edited yesterday at 01:50 AM by Chas Quote
Papa Rat Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM Posted yesterday at 03:15 AM @Chashahahaha. Yeah it needs a top hat at the very least. I like the idea of tracing out the decals for masking. I just recently got that kit for a decent price and will be ditching the color correcting decals and masking out for the red areas. The first battroid I built was a Hasegawa and I used all the decals for color correcting to see how it would look. It looked sloppy. lol. Quote

nightmareB4macross Posted yesterday at 05:28 PM Posted yesterday at 05:28 PM Landing gear are secured and with plenty of room underneath for a gunpod. Pew pew! Quote
Papa Rat Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I have been wanting to build this kit for a while now and finally jumped in today. Test fit is almost done and there are few seam lines to deal with which is making this come together quick. I’m a little concerned about this one being able to stand on its own. Might have to glue it into a static position once I’m done with it. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Not fully polished look but I’d does hold together on it’s own and the landing gear hold it up securely. Quote
NoctisTalem Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago So recently got a resin and filament printer, and decided to tackle doing Battle 25 by MiniValks, and I tried to scale it to be around 1/3000 to be in scale with the Arcadia SDF-1. But I can't seem to find any images of a side profile with Battle 25/21/7 next to the Macross itself while all ships are in Fortress mode. Anyway here's a progress pick. I'm feeling it's still a bit to small and I'm gonna a have to reprint the whole thing. Quote

One thing I'd note is that the drive section/legs look smaller than they should. Or, the arms/flight decks are oversized, which looks more likely when comparing the Frontier's legs to the Macross.
