Urashiman Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago Putty and sanding on the VF-1J. While doing this, I noticed I am on my last bottle of Alclad 2 primer and microfiller. Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be distributed anymore (through the UK, due to some regulations on lacquer colors). Now I am in search for a proper replacement as I don’t want to pay the ridiculous shipping prices from the US to Germany. Any suggestions? Mr. Surfacer doesn’t work for me as I am using Revell enamel colors. Same for Tamiya surfacer. They tend to develop cracks on these two surfacers. The revell primer is okayish, but I want something that is primer and microfiller. Quote

nightmareB4macross Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Have to keep checking that everything fits nice and proper before finalizing parts and beginning the primer phase. Quote

If I ever come across a junker G1 Jetfire, I'm thinking of following your footsteps here! I tried something like this about 20 years ago, but it went rather....badly. Quote
derex3592 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago @electric indigo - Gorgeous! I really struggled with having to improvise yellow stripes on the A-10's weapons, and I struggle with 1/72 weapons detailing period, did you mask and paint them or use water slides and somehow make them look good on a reducing radius tiny surface, because I tried that and it didn't come out great honestly... electric indigo Posted 12 minutes ago Posted 12 minutes ago @derex3592 I switched to 1/48 to make things less fiddly, but with only partial success... For the bombs, I painted the tips yellow & masked them, the very front and the fuses were painted with a brush. The stripes on the missiles and ECM pod are decals and metal foil. It's very important to start working on the payload in parallel to the kit, otherwise you might run out of steam once the plane is completed Now on to that A-10... Quote
