UPDATE: Got more painting and refinements down. Batmobile looks a bit too "black", so I'll see how it looks with a thin pearl layer on top of the sequin black:

Installed the mechanical detail ahead of the intakes:

I also intensely disliked how crappy the front and back tires came out initially, so I ripped them off the car and reworked the daylights out of them:

Hoping to refine them even more and get the bat symbol on the hubs.

@arbit I think its one of those things you have to get used to, like speaking in front of large crowds.

@Grayson72 I'm guessing your son is not a toddler😁 That is cool that you did that for him!

 

"Plan A" was to say "Merry Christmas" yesterday and post pictures of my finished model here on the boards. Reality was helping my son troubleshoot his PC for hours and watching Hallmark movies with my wife. Regarding the latter, somebody has to do it🤣 I did get this far though...

 

Cleaned up the tires to reduce the caking.

Used cloth "starched" with wood glue and made inserts for the collar area. Lets see, plastic work, metal work, acid treatments, heat treatments, landscaping and now textile work. Yep, got it all on this model now! Also cut and painted PE mesh to go over that for more layers of texture.

And after the glue dries and everything is put back together... I also cut and applied the Hi-Q Parts polarized green sheet extra areas to make the windows at the base of the collar. That took forever trying to keep it smooth and burnished down.

And Tamiya weathering pastels all over the tires and the base. I LOVE that stuff! It's like instant dust or dirt and looks like it too!

Completed yesterday.  About 300 feet of fiber optic filament was run, 11 LEDs, 3mm size, and 3 pica LEDs.  All powered with a usb booster pack.  Enjoy.

@neptunesurvey BEAUTIFUL lighting job! The mix of LED colors looks VERY realistic too! I believe that is a combo mill and lathe? Those little UNIMAT are pretty cool!

 

Alright, I'm calling this project finished! I think this and the lighthouse are the only finished, complete models for this year😁

The hip joints looked naked so I made boots to fit them from an old melted Ingram model (you all know how the vinyl melted the styrene on those).

I believe the rest are self explanatory...

Let me know if you guys see anything that needs fixing. I've been staring at this project waaaay tooo long! It's ALL starting to look like sand now! Thanks for checking in! - MT

@MechTech That is a very elegant build.  Everything in the mecha matches well together. The light shades of sand you chose are very appealing.  You've worked on it for a long time, I had guessed the modified tank was going to end up with your little Hulkbusters someday!

At first your mechs reminded me of Masamune Shirow's style, but now with the diorama complete, it reminds me a bit more of Gasaraki.  What were your inspirations?

The photography came out nice and neat.  You have put a lot of details everywhere in your scratch build which makes it fun to look at from different angles.  Thanks for all the photos!  I have them downloaded and will study them slowly.

UPDATE: there will be no further new pictures of the Batmobile; my wife has stated "she does not like it" (has a problem with the source material "Batman"), so I have packed it up and put it away (along with half my collection, per some of her comments about "the space it takes up"). I suspect she will become upset at my "overreaction", but what is done is done.

Let the cards fall where they may; if people cannot accept me as I am, then the hell with it.

Been working on these for quite some time now. Babylon 5 Earth Alliance ships. For those that don’t know the Warlock Class are the newest most advanced ships that Earth has while the Hyperion class are the old work-horse’s that are well past their prime. The Warlock Class Thunderer is done and the Hyperion class is almost finished. Was able to get a few decent pictures tonight then the lighting changed and the pictures hues changed. I’ll try to get better ones tomorrow. The Thunderer is a little over 19 inches and the Hyperion is about 9 3/4. I also have a custom display case made for them….NO DUST!!! 😜
