PetarB Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Looking fantastic. Can't wait to see a coat of primer on her to unify everything. Quote
nautilus Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 The Frazi is one of the most interesting builds I have seen in a long time. I am looking forward to seeing in painted. Quote
Kylwell Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 These have progressed as far as paint. The black & red Nightstalker has the farthest to go. The green Melusine is closest to finished. Snake Eye needs weathering and a lot of gray lunar regolith dust. Quote
Lt. Z0mBe Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Thanks for Frazi copliments. Those Ma. K suits look awesome. I love the Melusine. Did you hairspray and salt it? Kenny Quote
Kylwell Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Thanks! Actually no salt or hairspray on the Mel. Sponge chipping and counter shading. Still have wear streaks, rust, mud, grime, oil, etc to do. Quote
nautilus Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 (edited) Valkyrie rescue part 2. I'm going for a bit of a patchwork look on Hikaru's Valk here. It will take some time, but having replaced the missing missiles, and other bits, Skull 11 is already looking better. And heavy weathering. Needs to be lightened up, but does not look so bad right now. Edited October 14, 2012 by nautilus Quote
nautilus Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) The finished article, after some toning and shading. Skull 11, after getting down and dirty in the desert... And another... Edited October 16, 2012 by nautilus Quote
Thom Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Those VF-1s look just great! Here's more on my Big-G, the Nemein. Quote
nautilus Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Lovely stuff.... Old and new both, the Battlestars look great. Quote
Thom Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Finished! I'll post more pics in its own thread, but for now, here's the Battlestar Nemein, along with her escort the Battlestar Kara. Quote
nautilus Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 (edited) Frakkin awesome.... Which brings me to Valkyrie rescue part three... Yet another unloved, second hand beauty recovered from the pit that is the local charity shop. The Ghost was in a dreadful shape. It needed a partial rebuild of the jet nozzle, a repaint (it was the A, not the booster I wanted), and none of the decals could be saved (should be able to find some decent 1/60 scale things though...). The VF-0 however, was just in need of a little paint and lining. Edited October 21, 2012 by nautilus Quote
505thAirborne Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Awesome overload here between that VF-0S-Ghost and the Battlestar! Great work guys!! Quote
nautilus Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 (edited) Thank you folks. I wish I had picked up a more versatile airbrush long ago, now that I have seen what I can do with one. However, I am still just toying with it's potential and, as this Nautilus shows, I still need practice and any advise people can give. Currently, I am looking into doing grime and wear and would love to see/hear people's insights into that (underlining, over-wearing, weathering powders, etc.) Not strictly models, but more than toys, the following rescued dainties have been recently completed as well. The SDF-1 was a pre-release display piece, provided by distributers to the Missus for her shop. It had been crudely painted, and was glued/screwed into one mode. Once I discovered it in the scrap, I brought it back, scratched up a few missing parts then set to the paint job. The Thunderbird 2, is the Aoshima display model, and added here because it was cobbled back together from two models damaged in shipping, for which the distributor apparently did not provide return instructions. Sat in the stockroom for years, I only recently realized that two fails could become at least one win. The little minx still charged me for it once I was finished though... sidewinder81777 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Just finished a paper VF-2SS in 1/100, which is unfortunately not released to the general public. I'm just good friends with the designer. Current work is Urashiman's paper YF-19 resized to 1/100 redrawn with the fold lines removed and landing gear added. and then theres a Hasegawa 1/72 VF-0S that just came in the mail today Quote
Lt. Z0mBe Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Good looking work all around. Small update on the Frazi today. Nearly finished with detailing the BFG mounts and the LFGs themselves: Decided it needed some more "warts" to more convey the lend-lease/late mark notion I am going for. So I added a big sensor boom under the nose: Layout thus far: Still need to finish the BFG mounts with just a few more touches, add some RCS thruster details and then I can begin scribing. Comments and criticisms welcome. Kenny Quote
Jefuemon Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 First, push play. It may actually enhance your viewing pleasure! Finished up Aoshima's 1/48 scale Airwolf. Sometimes, have to take a small break from Macross kits. Made a few mistakes, though. Biggest thing, and this is the second kit I've done it on- DON'T THROW AWAY THE SPRUES UNLESS YOU ARE DONE WITH THE KIT!!!!!! It's always 1 or 2 small parts that you miss (such as the upper and lower collision lights) Anyways, on with the kit! Now, I just need to try and find Aoshima's Blue Thunder, and complete the set. GU-11 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 @Jefuemon: That's an awesome build, and I'm sure it'll look great on any display shelf or desktop. Wish I had the spare cash to take you up on your offer. @sidewinder: The papercraft Valks look really cool. Quote
Lt. Z0mBe Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Love the Airwolf. Looks like you knocked it out of the park. Am I the only one who sees it as an armed police version? I know, police helos aren't armed but still... Kenny Quote

Noyhauser Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 That is a pretty sweet airwolf. I loved that show as a kid. Also the paper craft is awesome. Two more done... I've got to retake these shots because they are so-so and I forgot to add a few details. The first is an 1/72 hasegawa A6M2a The second is a Eduard 1/72 F6F hellcat. Quote
sidewinder81777 Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) Starting on the VF-0S. Not having any decal solvent I ended up hand painting the instrument panel (tried to make it look like there was stuff on the MFD's lol) and Roy's helmet since i couldnt get the decals to snug down. Be gentle folks this is my first plastic model in like 10 years, and I wasnt very good at them back then lol. Edited November 2, 2012 by sidewinder81777 Quote
