The Enterprise is just about done. Just a few more touch-ups. Here are a few peaks. Better detailed pictures coming soon.

Wowsers! Very nice work. Both the lit and daylight photos look great. I bet it looks awesome in person.

I don't watch STD, but I like this design.  This is what the JJPrise should have looked like!

Totally agree! It is a great design and a really well done model. Great work!

Wow! Spectacular Enterprise. Are there any blinky lights on it? We may need video.:)

@Dobber That's gorgeous!!!  I love all the different shading you did, I can't believe that's pencil.  Yes, much better design than Discovery or the JJPrise.

Chris

That looks just amazing! Doing all that aztecing by hand must have been quite a pain.

All lit up in the dark, I'd have thought it was a movie prop.

"This is what the JJPrise should have looked like!" I agree!

Dobber - I'm dating myself for sure now, "But is it live or is it Memorex?" For you youngins, see the video. Is it the movie model or a copy - "I'll never tell!!" AWESOME WORK!!!! - MT

@20max20 You are a prolific builder! All of those kits built in such a short amount time. They look great!

@Dobber Your enterprise looks amazing! The finish on it looks like it was a very time intensive process. It looks great lit up, too!

@Grayson72 That Zentraedi ship is just crazy huge! What's the scale on that?

@peter The landing gear is tough to get right on these little valks. They don't fit quite right and trimming them just right is a laborious process. I stick a little ball of blu-tac in the bay and press the doors down on top until everything is flush. Then I just glue in place.

@Chas As far as mounting Miria's valk, I figure I'll just put her on one of those horrible Hasegawa stands.

Also, thanks to everyone else that also said kind words and showed interest in the finished build. The positive feedback feels good and motivates me to keep building! You guys are the best!

It’s 1/5000 to go with the other Zen ships that were produced by Mr. Mascato.

@F18LEGIOSS Another miria build. Awesome! Looks good so far.

Those comparison shots are interesting. They have very similar proportions. This is encouraging for the prospects of a Hasegawa 1/48 Battroid.

Thanks for the compliments everyone

@Chas, no blinking lights, but there are motors in the bussard collectors that have a spinning function. Haven’t had a chance to do the last thing I need to do yet so final pictures still to come.

Also, I nudged it the wrong way on the stand and it separated the lower secondary hull seem! AAAARG, it’s glued back together but now there is a noticeable seem again that will require putty and sanding and there is a lot of detail drawn on there. I don’t know, I may just leave it. I’m also considering painting over the large window on the front of the bridge. On the show it can go opaque when needed or be clear during non emergencies. So the bridges view screen/window is actually recessed far behind the hull window. I guess the space in between is some form of lounge. I think I may prefer the opaque look instead of The large glowing window It is now. I’ll have to think on it as there will be no turning back. ;)

I received my next kit today, just waiting for the aftermarket replacement and detail parts to arrive.....Moebius U.S.S. Kelvin. They are the same scale and actually size well together too. I think they’ll look great together...the top of the line Heavy Cruiser next to an old work-horse War veteran Destroyer

Nearing Completion of the Zeta and Eta, I figured it was time to start working on a display base. Found some broken headphones and a plastic Easter egg that went together nicely and came up with this. I was thinking of painting up the pink egg half to look like the earth. What do you think? Too cheesy?20200828_124752.jpg.bbf98593fa13bb33ebe8093d8565888c.jpg20200828_124841.jpg.ccb91a7d56ae41abc2d31d3f1c40a6f0.jpg

Working from home does afford some late night building.

Time to work on the 1/8000 Zentradi Fleet.

The Quedol-Magdomillia should have been printed in two parts instead of one. So, I will be doing some scratch building a bit on these.

I think it fits with the retro direction I want to go with these. That kinda cheesy 80's extravagance. Gonna either decal or Stincil the Mospeada title logo on the red Base in black and white. Man I gotta find me another one of these to do up as the green Iota!

That's cool Chas! Great idea for a base. If you have white decal paper, that would look great. You just need a white backdrop for it. You might be able to get a third stand on that base. Fill it with sand or something? - MT

"So MechTech, what did you do this weekend?" Most of my weekend was spent on this tiny part. Third time's a charm. A 10X magnifier was a big help too. That's a #11 X-Acto knife blade and tweezers in the photo.

Though it looks like some kind of leaf or alien symbol, it goes here: It's the ejection port for the 5" shell casings.

0829201332.jpg.ff6ad222541213e3c35477ecd3a7b475.jpg

Then there were some small details for the turret mechanisms under the rear and lug points for handling the turret on a crane.

0829201811a.jpg.bfd193fa8ed0b514f32522eeb3a0aedb.jpg

And a quick shot of it sitting loose where it will go on the weather deck.

And now it's turret time! The laser turret as part of the CIWS network. Thanks for checking in guys! - MT

Only three attempts!? I would have pinged off a dozen of things that tiny into the Great Unknown!

That is looking very cool!

Amazing smaaaaalll work!   I am watching an ongoing build on YouTube of a guy doing a 1:200 Battleship Missouri with SHEETS of ridiculously small photoetch parts that have to folded, bended and in some cases curled, then painted and glued. I don't know how people do it on that level..it's insane! But it does look amazing in the end! Only done a little photoetch so far, the Moebius Galactica set and the Yamato SDF-1 1/2000 set.  I'm not scared, but if definitely takes practice!

Funny how we divide our hobby into things that scare us and things that don't.

So what scares each of you?

As for me, nothing scares me more than gloss coating and oils.
