Benson13 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Build it. Don't spend too much time on it though - transformation doesn't last. It's not bad for what it is though. Just don't expect anything like a Hasegawa valk! Ignacio I am looking forward to seeing that Regult complete! What do you mean the transformation doesn't last? I should be starting my build on this soon. Quote
PetarB Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I mean, as always with any model - if you transform it a few times, bits and pieces are going to start to get loose, and lose traction. Quote

wm cheng Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Looks great! Can't wait to see more. I have the same PE & resin upgrade parts as you - it will be my retirement project someday! You didn't decide to light it did you? Quote
derex3592 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Thanks guys! No-Chang I decided not to attempt to light a $200+ kit for my first lighting attempt. However...my next project after the Falcon is complete is the reissue clear Enterprise D and I will be attempting to light that one!!! Quote
Benson13 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Great work Derex. Looking forward to the Enterprise. Quote

pfunk Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Nice job,,, like the detail parts, those were extra weren't they? Quote
derex3592 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Yes, the fan blades are resin and all 9 of the covers are PE. Quote
Hikuro Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 My vf2ss came and I'm excited, out of box she's just gorgeous to look at and go wow over. I'm sure putting this kit together will make me say different as I'm aware there will be a good deal of painting to be done. I hadn't decided if I want to do this in major nexx or silvi gena colors. The kit is just white and gray plastic, but what's a good color to replace the white to look more anime accurate? Quote
mechaninac Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Which kit are you refering to, Bandai's Injection molded 1/100 with SAP or the 1/72 resin version? Quote
derex3592 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 After a year or so of searching...finally scored one of these brand new off Amazon for $65 shipped from Japan! Always wanted some kind of Monster!! I can now say I will have at least one of every Destroid! (when I get around to building this and the Spartan that is...) Quote
MechTech Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 The Monster is my favorite of the classics. I like the mechanics on the spade and the over all accuracy of it with the line art versus the 1/1160 kit. - MT Quote
nautilus Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 A rescue job on a Toynami battlepod which had fallen foul of my Kittens. I don't know what they are putting into the vinyl that made it so tasty, but the poor thing needed much filler, sanding and new paint. Also, the next projects. A pair of nice Tamiya ships, found in the toy section at the local Daiso (Dollar store).... *_* Quote
derex3592 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I think I speak for everyone here when I say I want to see the "post kitten attack" pics for that poor battlepod before the filler and paint!! Nice repaint though! Quote

nautilus Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) I wish I had taken some now. I could try and recreate it, as the beasts still hunger.... Though someone would have to donate a Battlepod. Edit: However, by the magic of Paint and Scotch whisky, I give you a recreation... Edited August 23, 2012 by nautilus Quote
Jefuemon Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 You found 2 Tamiya 1/350 ships for ï¿¥100??!?!?! Or was Daiso just pricing them cheap? Quote
VF-19 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'd be rather concerned if they were authentic or not. It's a little fishy that they were only selling them for so cheap. Quote

It's a little fishy that they were only selling them for so cheap. Sadly, though they are authentic, they were not 100 yen (plus tax). Though, 890 yen was still a bargain, even with the water damage to the boxes. However, this not not such a surprise, as the local Daiso sells a good deal of 'end of lines' and spoiled stock, especially in their toy/hobby section. I learned a long time ago to swing through there often on my way home, as you never know.... Never seen Macross in there though, Quote
peter Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Started Yamato's 1/60 Mockingbird... Cute little kit. Just wish it had landing gear, but oh well. added a little detail to the cockpit per lineart. I decided to paint the figures (1/60, courtesy of >EXO<) as part of this project, since it also has a resin pilot. Got in the mood to model again after painting and assempling this for my friend DanBickell; Thats an original 3D print in 1/24 of his DYRL VF-1 WIP, which can be seen here http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34651&hl=&fromsearch=1 Cheers I just saw this...you did this with a 3d printer? Holy crap man, technology these days. This should be on the front page of Macrossworld! Fans fabricating their own models with such precision and in any scale they want! Amazing! Quote
ron5864 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Just completed Hasegawa 1/48 VF-19. This is a fairly big kit with lots of details. The fitting of the parts could be better, but that would drive up the cost of the kit. This is painted in medium naval gray with mild weathering. Here are a few photos. Quote
ron5864 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 A few more photos of the VF-19 next to the Yamato 1/48 VF-1. This gives a good comparison in size between the VF-1 and VF-19. Any bigger and the Excalibur VF-19 will have problems squeezing into the display. Quote
505thAirborne Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Your VF-19 is truly one of the nicest models I've seen in awhile Ron, the navy gray and weathering is top notch!! Quote
Benson13 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Ron, that 19 is straight fap material my friend. I love that gray color. It reminds me of the C-130 that used to haul me around Africa. Quote

nautilus Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Been a busy morning... Regult Rescue, complete (bar the lettering which I am too shakey to do - but I am sure I can find some 1/100 decals somewhere). The Mikasa. a Tenshodo model - sold as a finished display item, but I managed to scrounge an unpainted example and give it it's earlier colours (even if the masts and fittings are anachronistic). Finally, transforming a silver grunt Dalek into a swankier officer. This is one of the RC toys from the Peter Cushing movie from the late 60s (released a few years ago, I think by Master Replicas?) Quote
Benson13 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I love the fact you are all over the place with your models Nautilus. Fantastic work as well. Very clean looking. Quote
nautilus Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I miss the airbrush.... 'bout time I picked up a replacement and made everything look mucky again... Quote
Kelsain Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Aw, sorry, just used my light missile decals. I had thought about scanning them before I cut em up - but didn't... I like you use of blue accents dude! (null) Quote
