I'm still kind of salty they never released a non-electronic version, since all I really want is a way to open the wings without batteries. Best option I've come up with so far is a pop-out handcrank that's hidden behind the back greeblie panel, and manually turns the motor mechanism. I'd love to remodel the entire thing as an upscale of the 1/72 kit, but duplicating the mechanism's precision would be iffy, and I can't deny the worm gear-driven mechanism is a solid way to keep the wings from sagging or rocking. I wonder if they make miniature magnetic couplings? https://www.mikipulley-us.com/shaft-couplings/magnetic-couplings

But I also have a Skyhawk incoming... what to do?! I'm on it and I also have a Minerva incoming.... I saw the pics of your Hase F-14, I build a few and they are good kits but need lots of work. The Tamiya F-14 plays in another league, amazing kit. Thanks for your kind words, coming from you It is a great honor!!

I want to build all the red squadron from 1 to 6 from A New Hope . I have 4 dream model kits, I am a really happy modeler, Hasegawa 1/48 Valkyrie series, Bandai 1/48 X-WING, Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon and Tamiya 1/48 F-14A. Can't think of better kits. Possible a 1/48 VF-21 and VF-11 from M+!!! Edited February 6, 2020 by joscasle
MechTech
Derex, your fleet is coming along nicely! Now you can go where no man has gone before - actually having multiple models that are completed from a series! Thanks for sharing Big S. I saw those kits and was thinking about getting them. Looks cool. Electric Indigo, that looks smooth n clean! I'd love to see the Minerva. I had the original (Nitto?)kit reboxed as Battletech decades ago. I liked the design, but I forgot what scale it was. Never saw the series though. Joscasle, your Tomcat looks GREAT! For those that don't know, the kit is a masterpiece! I don't have one, but someone in our modeling club has been bringing it in. He said it practically falls together. He also used the mottled paint technique, but opposite using white. It looked like one of those custom Japanese anime paint schemes with snow flakes all over it. He used a mask to get the effect. That was before he started painting on the gray. - MT
derex3592
Thanks Mechtech! So.. Does anyone want a kitten??? Or part of one??? I'm about to dismember one very soon and will be looking for a place to send her. So yeh, last Sunday I took a dinner break to eat some nachos with the wife and little miss kitten found my Enterprise C nacelles and decided they were great toys to chew on. She shall now be know as "Smokey, the great galactic space monster that EATS starships"... Seriously though.. Damn.. The ONE ship that didn't need putty and tons of time to fix... Uhhhgggg. Not sure if I can save the bussard collector.. She did a number on it.. Edited February 9, 2020 by derex3592

It might be salvageable if you reinforce it from the inside using plastic sheet and then fill the dimples and holes.
MechTech
Sorry Derex, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you! I have two full grown cats. One LOVES the model ship I'm building, the other chewed on the mast. The first keeps trying to sit on the flightdeck, and collapsed it through the sides -three times! Nothing broken, but I had to add carbon fiber arrow shafts to support it. Now he doesn't try to sit on it anymore! If you save your boxart, protect your boxes! They make perfect beds for cats. MechTech
You're on to something BigS!!! Things have been slow going lately. I'm redoing my ship's turret. I had issues with the smaller 76mm turret sizes - I just couldn't get the cap gun guts to sit in them nicely. So I had to move up to the good ole' American (now owned by BAE) Mk-45 Mod 4 5 inch gun turret (used all over the world). This thing has more facets than a diamond! Thankfully there are good drawings for it online. I made the buck out of box wood and just sanded it on the disc sander with the table tilting and a compass. Forget doing this thing free-hand!. A "T" nut was added to the bottom to mount it and make pulling the formed plastic off of it easier (use duct tape to grab it if it get stucks). So no one thinks I'm the Martha Stewart of the modelling world, my first pull failed - not enough plastic surrounding the buck to pull down. The second had bad webbing on the backside. The next two were great! Until I sanded down the outside to make the angles crisp. That took too much and made holes. The fifth was with thicker plastic and worked out better. I STILL made a hole in it though! Thankfully small. Now I have to redo the cap gun inside to make it fit and fire at the slower rate of fire (one round every three seconds). - MT

SuNDuK
My first paint experience(always i just make bandai from box and panel line). May be not good at all, and many mistakes, but at least it's fun and i'm trying something new and make it better. Thinking about break wing and make "crash" diorama. Not final version, but close on it. Spoiler

pengbuzz
Well, on one of my long-term projects, I finally broke down and redid Prime's face to try to get it closer to the "season one" look of the G1 Transformers series: Too washed out under normal light, but a flash makes it look worse. Ah well... Anyways, here's his puss: Still working on it, but the old configuration was bothering me immensely. It's not perfect, but I'll get it where it needs to go (eventually). But the figure is at least good enough to photograph for my Photoshop projects: Stay tuned...

Bolt
In between gloss coat and water slide sessions on my other projects, been working on this V1 Ghost X-9 by @Xigfrid the master. It comes with the clear (and very cool) canopy or the resin eye option. I'm a bit torn between which one to use. As i'm running LED's on this project. Two very different looks, so.. Here's the clear canopy. I'm trying to get away from too bright and over powering. But i want the gimmick to look good.. And here's the resin eye.. I'm also going to add LED's for the exhaust end..probably white and red. There's a ton of room in this baby! @Xigfrid was very helpful in the design will also be adding one of these two small, tactile switches..
