edstuff Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Very excited My boss gave me the OK to go into the welding shop (in my spare time of course) and finish this long dead project. Steel art was a passion of mine taken away when my old job was sold to a new owner. I have since changed employment and loving every day I made that decision. Quote

NZEOD Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 The figures I bought ... so far - eyeing up another 25 for the Destroid dioramas... Plus the 1/72 scale chains, hooks and tie downs. A Wave Corp. VF-4 of VFA-213 Black Lions is going on one of the Carrier Deck displays in a weeks time. Quote

I also found this cheap alternative to those expensive flight decks that comes with a Trumpeter 1/72 SU-33 Flanker D. Hobby Search seems to have them in stock for ¥6,000. Any comments on their quality? Quote
NZEOD Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 They are fine. Just not based on US carrier designs. The JBDs are different and no catapult system. Russian and Chinese systems rely on the planes own thrust to get off the deck which is why you don' see many on the carrier deck... need all the length they can get to launch, and why they can't run full ordnance and external fuel loads... too heavy. MechTech Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Lots of great stuff guys! Too busy to photograph, but primed my ship from months ago and a couple of other kits ion the bench. - MT Quote
CrossAir Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 (edited) As DHL still doesn't seem to be capable to deliver my shipment of several Mecha kits within the past 8 weeks (its a horror, contacted the support several times and no positive response yet! Meanwhile I doubt I will ever get it ) I was forced to build a completely new mecha genre as those kits were my last ones in stock now: Armored girls I have to admit they were really fun to build and they look cute and fierce at the same time!. Especially the purple one ("Pretty Armor") out of a chinese production. High quality kit with high fitting accuracy of the parts so I had only little finishing work to do. And most of the molding points of the runners are not on outside positions in contrary to Kotobukiyas' Stylet kit. Here I had a lot more sanding work. Edited April 15, 2018 by CrossAir Quote
pengbuzz Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Some progress on my project: I removed the mast-work I previously did, as some of it wasn't shaped right. I also want to put it back on once all the major stuff is done, so as to avoid damaging the fine stuff. At any rate, I set this in a foam base that has painted crumpled tin-foil glued down to it; I'll do the detail-painting, additions of white-caps and resin water later to make the ocean look more like water. Meantime, I started adding some custom-made aircraft to the ship, as well as fire vehicles, the rolling crane and the tow vehicles on deck. Finally, even though it's just set on there right now and not in permanent position, is the ship's coat-of-arms, set into an old barometer housing that thought would look naval and add a nice touch. Stay tuned folks... Quote
NZEOD Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 VF-4 assembled on my lunch break at work and base coated tonight. Detail work begins tomorrow night. Quote
Focslain Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 So I'm planning a new modeling project and like a few suggestions. I want to build a T'au Coldstar suit with the following options: High-output burst cannon (vulcan) Missile pod twin fusion blades (beam sabers that can be used at range) The suit is highly maneuverable and after my last one I'd like to keep my suit colours after mecha from gundam/macross. Based on the load-out above, what gundam would best match it so I can use it's colour scheme. Quote

What about Prototype PLAN303E Deep Striker color scheme? Light and dark grey, red around shoulder and head section and little yellow details. Okay, this one has a heavy loadout, but imho the color scheme would also suit the T'au Coldstar Quote
