007-vf1 Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Working on five 1/144 sized regults one of them with cockpit details Quote
Dobber Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Ares update: all paneling done. Just need to do final detail painting and the it’ll be ready for decals. I dry fit the Nacelles on to see how it looks all together, I couldn’t help myself. Quote
electric indigo Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Not a fan of the ship, but your paneling rocks! Quote
arbit Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 (edited) A little Antiques Roadshow on my workbench. I purchased this lighter around 25 years ago from an antique store in the Middle East. I never made much of it, except that I liked to have an ugly old zippo. After years of research and much Googling, I was surprised to find out it is an antique S.T. Dupont made to honor returning soldiers from the French Foreign Legion in the Indochina War in the 1950s. The military insignia for each unit was made by Drago, which exclusively made all the regular military insignias as well. My lighter is for the 2nd Muogo Battlion. And after lots of clean up and repair this week, I was surprised that I had the valuable silver-plated version! I had always thought it was just cheap brass. Edited January 19, 2018 by arbit Quote
big F Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Hope you didn’t pay top dollar for it. Makes the find all the sweeter:) Quote
Dobber Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Cool lighter! Also, great cockpit detailing 007-vf1 Chris Quote

NZEOD Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 On the work bench today between getting the Tuono ready for the Aprilia Hampton Downs Trackday... a new Carrier deck, a VF-1D, VF-1J and a VT-1 And over twenty present day Squadron markings to start wrapping my VF-1s in Quote
NZEOD Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) So I got my butt into gear and starting building... Another Carrier deck... Another coupe of VF-1Js and VF-1Ds and a VT-1... Then found I needed some French blue for the VF-213 machine and some Insignia Red for the Navy Trainer scheme and the Diamondbacks CAG plane... some how... its a trap I think... but somehow the other half agreed to letting me buy more paint (I have a Shite load of it already) so off we went. The sense of impending doom only increased when she smiled and acted all happy... I ended up spending $140 at Modelair (thankfully open on a Sunday!) and spent nearly 1 hour in the shop nosing through all their stuff... she didn't complain once and even had a good look herself AND found the paints I was after... Once home she left me to build, complaint free, we had dinner and she then asked to watch Topgun with me.... Edited January 21, 2018 by NZEOD Quote
derex3592 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 hahahahaha! .....she’s definitely a keeper! , but yeeeh...Id watch out now!, she’s gonna want something big! Quote

SuNDuK Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Little progress today with Full Armor Gundam Decalls still really hard for me T_T Quote
derex3592 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Basic construction finally done!... there is a two arm with the cape option, (the cape is cloth which is nice) or a four arm with lightsabers option.. really cool kit btw! The neck parts are VERY fiddly to get together right, other than that, great little kit. Weathering and hand painting lightsaber hits (joy) up next! Stay tuned! Quote
Dobber Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Nice!!! I’ve been wanting to get a Grievous and this makes me want one even more. Chris Quote

NZEOD Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) Like the 2 Queadlunns too and the Gundam sniper thing taking aim mid street. Meanwhile... Made a quick acrylic template for a 1/72 Elevator on a Nimitz Class Carrier... and the VF1 Production line is back in full swing 3 x VF-1, 1 VF-1D likely to become a Scorpions VF-1EA and a VT-1 Trainer. Note... just finished cutting out a 1/144 Elevator deck piece too for the GiMix and F-Toys Valks Edited January 24, 2018 by NZEOD Quote
big F Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I reckon if you set both those off at the same time your fusion reactors gonna suffer a serious brown out. Looks good though. Quote

pengbuzz Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 (edited) Okay folks...emerging from out under my rock to show everyone what I've been toiling on: Our intrepid hero when we last saw him... I did some work on the hips and thighs; essentially, I replaced them with a new system that allows the hips to spread out a bit and rotate the thighs so the feet aren't "dead ahead". Also lengthened the thighs a bit to bring it more in parity with the animation version: ] I also took the opportunity to rework blazing sword a bit: I sanded down the chrome peeling on the blade, lengthened the handle and scratched up the wrist guard for the hilt (complete with crest): Little bit of a closer look: Working on the blade now...this pic is before I redid it yet again and baked some chrome paint onto it: The spinning laser blade was a bit of a disaster; the chrome on it (as you can see) looked like someone had tried to sand it off. The sticker in the middle just looks bad...as in really dumb: So, we just nuked all the chrome with easy-off: Then made a new plate for the middle: Did some chrome paint on it and painted the middie in prep for more work: Did out a proper cross center for it: (Painted that) And some detail work: How it looks now (with red center added, just need a clear gem to glue onto it): And where the project stands now (Sword isn't as shiny with chrome paint on it, but shinier than plain silver): Stay tuned folks... It would be a VF-1 body and bring over all the details and engines from the Delorean. Edited January 28, 2018 by arbit Quote
electric indigo Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Yeah, it's a concept similar to Blade Runner's retro-fitting, where less things are created anew, but new stuff is added layer after layer onto old stuff. For the Lotus, I think the concept was let's rip out the engine and put in a Mr. Fusion, and make the thing bulletproof. Quote
derex3592 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Calling The General done. Did some panel lining and detailing today and then some light weathering that doesn't show up terribly well in the pics... Almost had another disaster with the Tamiya panel line wash... I learned the hard way on the AT-AT NOT to use it all over some joints... however... the hands that hold the lightsabers also didn't like that sh*t and 3 of them split apart on me... thank goodness for Ambroid Pro Weld... be careful with this stuff guys, especially on these Bandai kits! Now just have to decide 2 arms with cape or 4 arms with lightsabers for the final display... enjoy the pics! Edit.. final location for display. Edited January 29, 2018 by derex3592 Quote
