electric indigo Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Surface looks good and ready for colors. I'd just drill out the nozzle/sensor at the front end, the wall thickness looks out of scale. Or insert a smaller, slightly protruding tube. Quote
Kelsain Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Woohoo, my shipment from Shapeways arrived early! While I may have gone a little overboard with the height on my Space Marine, I wanted the body proportions to look right. He now stands just a bit short of 9" with the helmet, which is almost 9 ft scale height. I guess he's a Primaris, then: Need to drill some holes for the backpack mount & knee pads before I can get them attached properly. The elbow armor snaps over the existing Iron Monger joints. I'm also still working out how I'll do the attachment for the giant shoulder pads. The required tolerances of the WSF left the backpack nozzles a bit loose, so I'm gonna have to figure out how to tighten those up without locking them in place... My first helmet print was about 15% too large, but this looks much better. I also whipped up a couple accessories for a loose (probably bootleg) Sabine Wren fig that I got off eBay. New pistols & her jet pack. I'm gonna try to update her to her Season 3 look. Quote

Hikaru1234567890 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Hey all, just thinking about making a 1/3000 Ataria Island for my 1/3000 SDF-1 and I was curious if there was any 1/3000 Buildings and ships around this scale? I'm starting this project next week and was curious if anyone has any recommendations before I start. Thanks! Quote

007-vf1 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) I finally got some of the 1/144 models “done”. What a madness to detail at this scale. They have been on my workbench fora year They do need more decals, “flare” lights and subtle details this is a conversion from the tiny yellow submarine, just like some destroids should be converted. Bandai 1/144 Nousjaul-Ger one UN-Spacy “Devil Spartans” height optics version and classic Kamjin versions this one is the destroids family pic. Ab plate is worn correctly too. Plus now have Screen correct Camo BDUs x 3 sets to make film versions in cloth Uniforms. Quote
teckno viking Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Made a mold of the Floor plates and now can cast as many as needed. Each is 5" x 6". Works for corridors, Rooms and Range. Quote

Dobber Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) Been working on this. It’s the TIE Defender 1/72 kit from Kessel Run Kits. I added som extra details and used the Cockpit ball from a Bandai TIE Interceptor as I like that it is larger than the kit provided one that was using the Fine Molds TIE ball, and it is also open instead of solid. I also used the Bandai kits panel tip blasters as they are bigger and more detailed than the small resin ones. Just need to give it a light wash and then attach the solar panels. Compairison with the provided resin ball. Edited December 14, 2017 by Dobber Quote
MechTech Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Thanks for posting that video Arbit! The narrator was funny to listen too and him showing how the LED lights worked. I guess it would be easy resin coat them and make them water proof for our own purposes. - MT Quote

Chronocidal Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 (edited) That thing is beautiful. Man, I wish Bandai would get to work on the rest of the canon ships, and then start making those game-based designs for real. Always preferred that style to the elongated rear section used in the old games. Now I seriously want a Bandai Missile Boat kit... original game, not the blocky X-Wing vs Tie Fighter variant. The Defender, though, is now Canon! It is in Rebels, and is a project of Thrawn. I believe it never sees full production due to cost and complexity. It is actually even referenced in the new Incredible Cross sections book for TLJ as it was “resurrected” by the FO and its technology was used for the TIE Silencer. Quote

Tinfoil your cockpit sides to avoid light bleed through. I sabd mine, then dip them in alclad aqua clear then slap on the decal frames then paint the inner side of the frames in cockpit grey but leave the canopy loose until EVERYTHING else is done Quote
