While I'm waiting for my next project to get here (and hopefully for a chance to get my own pc fixed), I got the chance to get my hands on some rare earth magnets. So, after popping off the backpack for my "Starfighters" Strike Valk, I glued them in via hot melt glue and put some on the boom end of my launch arm dio. I hope to have pis as soon as the glue dries and I can test it out.

Stay tuned...

Staying in-tune PB!

If it's non-transforming that shouldn't pose a problem. You can dremel that square mounting area out as well as the 'bottom' of the head, leaving the head hollow and still use that space for the motor. It only needs to 'look' like the head is in one piece...

That's the idea. But in my Bandai 1/72, the gears wouldn't fit. Seems there is more space in the Hasegawa 1/72. I might try the 1/48 just to avoid the pain, but I really dont want that giant.

Update on my Kakizaki project:

I ended up going an entirely different way and just carved the antenna out of spare frames plastic.

Is not as detailed as the included one, but it works

(Sorry for the blurriness)

Near as I can tell, it won't shake off the launch arm. Just need to do some more details on the arm (the "grab fingers" I suppose) and it should eb all set.

Taking a look at my Yamato kitbash idea.

Unfortunately, the base of the 1/700 IJN Yamato is too wide for the 1/1000 Space Battleship Yamato, although according to the scales it should have fit since the Space Battleship is bigger than the IJN. Seems that the SBY is designed with a thinner hull.

Comparing it to my 1/500 SBY, the IJN base is actually a perfect fit.

The gun barrels also look great.

But the bridge seems too small. It might actually be okay. Not sure.

I need to think real hard about whether I want to do this. Is it worth it? At that size, it would have to be fully electronic. But are the scales all messed up, or just right? You guys decide.

And just for fun, guess which is my favorite?

Very cool! Gotta love them magnets.

Yup, although admittedly I was pretty skeptical even while getting them out of the hard drive. Quite a bit rides on those magnets' ability to hold the Strike Valk in place!

Interesting, Arbit! Looking to see where you take this idea.

BTW: speaking of Yamato (and several other animes): has anyone ever noticed that many of the shows are a bunch of "bad guy ships" chasing around ONE "good guy ship"?

Great paint job. Very professional.

While you're at it with your own kit, I noticed you had the same problem with your canopy as I did.

It doesn't close flush with the cockpit. I think its a mistake in the mold.

To fix it, I sanded down one side of the swivel joint before encasing it in the body. You have to figure out just which side and what needs sanding. It should close perfectly.

Soooo... I'm pretty pissed off right now.... WARNING!!! DO NOT USE TAMIYA PANEL ACCENT LINE LIQUID  on PARTS WITH MOVING JOINTS.... it freakin dissolved the plastic in the joint in less than 30 minutes.. F*CK. Three feet pads have crumbled off of the feet and then the leg basically just fell off.

Huh so it does have an effect on plastic... i was wondering why the beam sabers on my MG Strike crumbled.... sorry to see that man :(

Yes!..  it definitely does have an effect on plastic, didn't notice it on the Star Destroyer, as I used it sparingly. You can't just brush this stuff on everything like you can with Flory's.  Back to the drawing board... which is a shame because my streaking and weathering was actually beginning to look quite nice.... :-(  Im depressed now and going to go hide somewhere away from the model bench.
