arbit Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) Good question. It's your mech after all, but Annihilator does match with Monster, so it's not wrong per se. Ragnarok is Delta-ish. Chimaera reminds me of this: Edited March 2, 2017 by arbit Quote
Kelsain Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Chimaera would be appropriate, given how the model came together. Quote
Chas Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) Chimaera definitely works, given how it's appearance would occur in the Macross universe - What with the very obvious Glaug/Destroid origin for te mech. if you go with Ragnarök though, please be sure to include the umlaut. Changes rock to rook. Edited March 2, 2017 by Chas spelling Quote

slide Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Given that the other Destroids are: Monster, Defender, Phalanx, and Spartain, I would carry the Greek theme with Achilles or Ajax... but that's just me 'Tis a gorgeous bit o' work Nyanko, whatever you call it! Quote

Yeah; a true understatement that does NOTHING to describe the utter devastation this behemoth can handle. I imagine about 4-5 taking the place of all the destroids during a Daedalus attack, and doing twice the damage as all of them would! Quote

MechTech Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 The face plate upgrade looks great Electric Indigo. What is it with those era Gundams? They always seemed to get the proportion wrong. How about "Chocolate Thunder!" It works on multiple levels - MT Quote

I just wanted something I had envisioned when I first saw pictures of the kit back in '93. Quote
pengbuzz Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) That book looks quite interesting! Meantime...in the paint shop: Not nearly done with painting yet... still gotta touch up several places and put in some more stuff. But it's progress, and the conversion from "Super" to "Strike" seems to have gone well! Meantime, thinking about doing up some heavy "reaction missiles" for this one. wm cheng Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Well, its not Macross related, but I'm trying to get back in the saddle again after a few years hiatus. I'm trying my hand at the beautifully rendered Bandai 1/144 Millennium Falcon. Man! I'm getting too old for these tiny things - my eyes, my eyes!!! Thank god I got some huge ass magnifying glass, I didn't remember it like this the last time I was doing Macross models. I'm also trying my hand a lighting this tiny model. It's pretty much straight out of the box except for the following mods; Cut the greebles trench on top of the cockpit access way to sink it Hollow out the A-Frame ties to the top greeble hatch Dremel out the blast marks and scarring Shapeways 3D cockpit nosecone and gunwell window frames Greenstrawberry Photoetched cockpit control panels and gunwell controls to allow for lighting Greenstrawberry Photoetched engine grills Customized lighting kit from Tydirium models The detail in this kit actually puts the Fine Molds 1/72 scale kit to shame! Quote
505thAirborne Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That Millennium Falcon is coming along nicely, lots of detail for that scale. Quote
derex3592 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) Always a pleasure to see a Cheng build. I've talked myself out of buying this kit like 4 times at least, as it would be my 4th Falcon build...but I still kinda want it! Edited March 8, 2017 by derex3592 Quote
MechTech Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That looks great William! You can't tell it's 1/144 from the photos. Is it just me, or does Han look REALLY grey haired now! I'm with ya William! I've had to sort out several ways of magnification even adding it to a couple of machines. Between last year when we moved house and a couple of months ago when I started back seriously into building, I lost part of my vision. Maybe it's in one of the storage boxes from the move... The Valk is coming along great Pengbuzz!- MT Quote

Nice! Everyone needs a Falcon. Are you using this entire photo etch set, or just what you mentioned? http://www.greenstrawberry.cz/yt-1300-millennium-falcon.php Quote
wm cheng Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Thanks! Han is grey now (along with me) because this is the Force Awakens Falcon. I wish I can find my vision in one of the many boxes in the basement! Yes, I going to mostly use all the photo-etched, the gunwells are completely photoetched, definitely use the landing gear baskets, not sure about the landing gear doors though, they kind of look too thin even for this scale. I did the initial panel wash knowing that it was too dark/stark, because its on the bare plastic - its my "post shading". I finally mixed up a good shade of White (with a bit of tan and light grey) to approximate the AS-20 Tamiya Insignal White that everyone seems to agree on as the proper base colour. This toned down the stark panel shading, but the edges still pop a bit so they stand out a little more but more in keeping with the original ILM build. I also sprayed the greebles around the waist and all the openings with a light dusting of the hull colour, this lighten the original Alclad steel to more in keeping with the ILM build, but still have the depth of the original wash and steel colour behind some of the overlaying pipe. The Bandai stickers were used on the round engine exhaust as masks (yay! finally a use for Bandai Stickers!). I've gloss coated the entire thing with Future now in preparation for the decals, then a light post-shading with the airbrush and I get to go to town on the weathering and streaking! Quote

derex3592 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That looks great WM Cheng! Are you actually going to attempt to use the colored panel water slide decals and not mask off and paint all the sections? I was just watching a YouTube build of this kit yesterday where the guy didn't care for the way the water slides went down and ended up going with the stickers! (and it looked great BTW). I know masking all that off WOULD be a chore..I know because I did it on the FM 1/1:44 and the 1:72. So if the water slides or stickers work, hey, I'm all for it! Quote
wm cheng Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I don't know, but that's the current plan is using the decals - I was thinking it would be easier to scratch them up with an exacto. However if the decals suck, I may have to resort to painting them (but this was supposed to be the quick and fast model to get me back into modeling again - argh). Quote
