arbit Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 NZEOD, Nice scheme. Can't be sure, but maybe your decals cracked from too much decal solvent? Or old decals falling apart? Happens to me all the time. Pengbuzz, Don't listen to haters. Everyone works at their own skill level. Quote

NZEOD Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 that looks good like the extended version! Quote
vincemoto7 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Pengbuzz- Arbit is right, don't listen to the haters. Be proud of that project and keep showing it off. Funny thing about the internet - people will say anything hiding behind their computer screen. Quote

derex3592 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) Looks great! Got a half day off work today, so Mr. Arad is now ready for flight! Gloss coat, panel line wash, and a semi gloss sealer coat. Total time put in, about 2 hrs on the build and then another hour for clear coats and wash. I love these little Tomytec kits! As for the model, I liked the canopy cover idea, and your idea for the Squadron and the colors looks great. Seriously fellow modellers, I think our comrade is in need of a Karma Bomb. It does! I'm going to include this in the paint scheme! Thanks Kelsain! A lot of this paint scheme came from the "Vexar" paintjob on the boxtop of the Robotech Changers line: And come to think of it, it has like your suggestion! So consider it official! 9 hours ago, vincemoto7 said: Pengbuzz- Arbit is right, don't listen to the haters. Be proud of that project and keep showing it off. Big s Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Hey Pengbuzz, sorry about what's been said elsewhere, but here I think you are much more appreciated. I always like seeing a project that puts more work than I'm willing to do. I like that you did extra fitting and joint work as well as the sculpting. Don't give up, I really want to see where that project goes. Quote

Don't give up, I really want to see where that project goes. Believe me, I'm going ahead with this. Speaking of which; I didn't like what was going on with the leg joint in the upper thigh for Gerwalk mode, so I disassembled the legs and pulled the thighs out. I'm currently reworking the Gerwalk swing joint to be more anime-accurate, and also reworking the knee as well. Yamato/ Arcadia has a pivoting "knee-cap" armor for theirs, so I want to see if while I have this apart, I can do that as well so it benefits Gerwalk and Battroid modes. @ Thom: when I get the Super Armor you're sending (cannot thank you enough! ), I'm going to be building an interchangeable module for the booster so I can switch between Super and Strike configurations. Pics soon folks: stay tuned... Quote
MechTech Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) Pengbuzz, that sucks dude! I think those guys forgot where they came from. NOBODY takes a model for the first time or even first few times and makes it look AWESOME without some bumps here and there. On the other hand, it's great that we do have some nice people on the forums! I've been on these forums for years and I can't tell you how many people started out asking for help to becoming near professionals giving help. You also get the TENACITY AWARD for not giving up when the model went far from what you wanted it to. On a side note, if you're on a tight budget, need styrene but don't have a hobby shop or hobby shop budget, go to the big stores and buy yard signs. Walmart has a $1.00 "Keep Out" styrene sign made of either .020" or .040". Just turn the lettered printed side to the inside. Or buy two and hang one in your work area NYANKODEVICE: Your scheme and finish look great! I think your design is better than some of the Palladium books creations. - MT Edited March 1, 2017 by MechTech Quote

I think your design is better than some of the Palladium books creations. - MT I agree, MT: they did forget we all start somewhere. And they also forget that sometimes projects don't work out as we intend. I've been building models since I was a kid (I'll be 43 this month) and not every single one is a winner. But yeah: the folks here have been just great, and Thom really made my day yesterday with his kindness. Tenacity: yeah, I'm a stubborn bird. I have a vision for this that won't let go, and I intend to see it through. Although at that one point, frustration just overtook me. On the styrene: I appreciate the advice MT! Recently, someone remodeled their bathtub, and I took the plastic from the old shower liner (huge sheets), as well as blinds that were pretty heavy: those were a foam coated in plastic. Both make for additional materials that glues and paints work on pretty nicely! I need to completely rebuild the thigh for my valk from just under the Gerwalk thigh joint down to the knee, so I'll be documenting my use of both materials for that. And yeah: Nyankodevice really hit gold with his latest here! I can imagine the look of horror as a group of renegade Glaugs land on a UNS base, only to see this stride up to them and open up! What's the Zentran phrase for "OH $#1T!!!"? Quote
