NZEOD Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Working on this one over the weekend. Lots of filing, filling, sanding, refilling, but I enjoyed it right up until I discovered the kit was missing an entire sprue of parts. One intake door, 2 canards and 2 lower stabilizers. Hopefully Model-junkie still has these at his place somewhere. With the flash on, the colour changes to how I wanted the blue to look... go figure Redoing the blue as its too blue. Need it to be a little paler - more baby blue. Need to remove some more seam lines I missed and scribe some panels back on, then work out what to do about the missing parts. Using this image as a template so thanks to the guy that drew this up originally. Quote
Thom Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Ah, sexy fighter. Looking good and good luck with the parts! Quote
Model-Junkie Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Only just saw your post here after I responded to your PM. I bought the kit new from Valk009 in 2012 and it sat in my stash for 3 years. I never did an inventory of the parts as I did not expect anything to be missing, no parts are at my end as I never took them out of the box, only opened the box to ogle at the parts and clean castings and then placed away. I did offer options for a refund and am still willing to work with you. Quote
NZEOD Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 All good. What ever we can sort is fine. Thats all part of the fun pf messing with Garage kits. Quote

It's a work in progress but i finally got the legs to pose in a wide position. He still going to needs work adding some new things to it and a paint job. Enjoy Quote
pfunk Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Working on this and hopefully it won't take a year and a half, then moving to the Wave Destroids Quote

NZEOD Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Stand down the Guards... all good! Found the parts next to the belt sander where I was working on the mating faces of the pieces. They must have been swept under the sander mount by my arm as they were way underneath it still on the gate/sprue. So end of the day, Valk009 made a fine kit and supplied all the parts, Model-Junkie sold a fine kit with all the parts, I lost the parts myself. And found them Quote
chyll2 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 nice Nzeod, it looks like this will be completed without worries. I really like the fighter mode of VF-4 too bad, my funds is getting relegated somewhere else and cant buy the toy, I still wonder why Hasegawa decided to skip VF-4. Quote
arbit Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Working on this and hopefully it won't take a year and a half, then moving to the Wave Destroids IMG_4031.JPG Wondering if you plan to paint on the graffiti like in the series. Quote
pfunk Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Wondering if you plan to paint on the graffiti like in the series. A deeper faded red and that telltale I've been in space a lot weathering Quote

mickyg Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 It's in another thread, but the part was found, as I recall. Shouldn't be any further cause for alarm. Quote
big F Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 To be fair mine is complete I started cleaning up the parts when it arrived, just never got to making it yet. Quote
NZEOD Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Redid the blue on the VF-4... its a closer match to the Digital artwork now. And then got sidetracked renovating the house so thats all I got done. Oh and fitting up the parts I LOST that I found again. Quote
derex3592 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I am continously blown away by the precision and brilliance of these Bandai Star Wars kits, and this little guy is even better, every part is just perfectly designed to fit together. Can't wait to see him all detailed up! Quote
VF-1A Grunt Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I really like the fighter mode of VF-4 too bad, my funds is getting relegated somewhere else and cant buy the toy, I still wonder why Hasegawa decided to skip VF-4. I would love to see a Hasegawa VF-4 model. I'll be honest, I don't really care for some of the later VFs, but the VF-4 is a really sleek-looking fighter. I have a feeling the VF-4's brief appearance in Flashback is the reason for its lack of popularity among model manufacturers. Were the other modes even animated anywhere, or only the fighter? Quote
derex3592 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Few beauty shots of the TFA Bandai 1/12 Trooper all finished. Painting both the weapons accurately was a beating. Came out good though I think. And one shot of him hanging with the big guy! Sorry for the sideways pics. Quote
UN_MARINE Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 A little progress this week. Got to detail the chest section. The original kit is barely recognizable now. . I'm still trying to figure out if I should keep it in a fixed pose or attempt some basic articulation... "Forever Project" or "Articulated Infinity Project" Quote
vincemoto7 Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 un_marine, that's looking nice. What did you use to make the helmet, shoulder pads, etc.? Quote
UN_MARINE Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 un_marine, that's looking nice. What did you use to make the helmet, shoulder pads, etc.? Thanks! I use PVC/Sintra board. It's rigid enough for structural & mechanical work, but also soft enough that you can scribe panel lines with a toothpick. Quote
007-vf1 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Finally have the main components ready of the Queadlunns 1/144 just finished the power suit and working on the pilot.. The 1/72 was done several years ago for size comaprizon Quote
derex3592 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Sunny and 75 in TX in January!, gettin some painting done today! Mostly the 1:72 Bandai First Order Tie. Quote
mickyg Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) Loving these kits! I'm sort of working on the T-65 and T-70 concurrently and have lots of photos to take. But these are here on my computer, already uploaded: I'm using Mr Metal Color "Stainless" for the head dome but the rest are decals. And the tear in the top blue instrument hatch is due to how tight the parts fit. I tried to put it all together and snapped the dome on in the wrong orientation, not knowing it'd fit so tightly that I wouldn't be able to rotate it after the fact. The torn decal was luckily all that went wrong with that little assembly mishap. Oh, and a sandy brown acrylic wash for the panel lines. Edited February 1, 2016 by mickyg Quote
arbit Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I love my Zentraedi. This is just a WIP, but planning more panel lights with fiber. Gloss coat awaiting decals and enamel wash. Still trying to decide what color wash to use on green vs gray (suggestions appreciated for assortment MIG Jimenez I have). Quote
NZEOD Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Liking the LED work Here is some inspiration for you https://nicholassagan.wordpress.com/ https://nicholassagan.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/commission-12256-mc-30-frigate-done/ Quote
UN_MARINE Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I got the pilot to a serviceable state, and figured I could move on to greater madness. I'm building it around an average between the DYRL? & Master File line art, plus a bit of Hasegawa. I think I need to redo the math on this one... At 1/35 (40cm) fighter length, that's a tiny cockpit. Looks like Roy would've been really crammed in his VF-1. Line art magic, indeed! Quote
arbit Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Liking the LED work Here is some inspiration for you https://nicholassagan.wordpress.com/ That is interesting. I had not considered that using different size fiber optics gives that kind of rough alien look. Great match for zentraedi. Quote
