UPDATE:

Waiting on hinges for this one; they should be here by Saturday:

I have a transforming toy coming in that I have identified a working set of hinge joints that should serve the intended purpose in this build (ebay find, poorer than poor price). After installation, it's then on to painting, decaling and superdetailing.

We have legs.

@MechTech The kit is pretty great, so you can keep the build simple. What bothered me the most (and actually kept me from buying at the original release date) was the weird look of the legs/feet. I identified the oversized ankle guards as the culprit and installed much smaller versions from a resin kit on my GP04. I also gave the knee vents more definition.

One day it shall be done. I even added engines to the legs and sliders to the hands so they can expand and compound into the forearms with ease, amongst other modifications. Upgrade hands from an old Gundam kit.

To be honest with you, the process was a bit daunting and painful as all the cuts are done with a dull exacto to keep control over contours and minimize any over cuts.

A dull blade is asking for a bad cut but I get the reasoning. It must have taken forever to get it to where it is today.

You might say that; the material on the wings broke when I tried making my own. Also, the weight of the wings needs something a lot sturdier than I can make to keep them in their positions.  I still stand by the baffle mod I made, it's just the hinge itself needs a better material. It should look just fine when done.

UPDATE: on an update concerning a previous project-

I had intended to scrap this, but saved it aside (knowing my temper and what happened the last time I let my anger get the better of me). Tonight, I dug the Legioss/ Leader-1 model kit back out to try to rework some of it again and hopefully salvage a long-backlogged project.

 

The remaining parts shattered.

 

As of right now,  I will NEVER buy another Legioss model kit in any scale, any manufacturer, or any form be it toy, model, or WHATEVER. NO PARTS WHATSOEVER will be salvaged from this UNHOLY PIECE OF RANCID CANINE EXCREMENT.  😠

 

 

This did more than break my heart....

As for my other projects, they will continue without interruption (one project I'm working on is a surprise for everyone! :D), and it's good to get the KBoP back into the running! I also have another Star Trek project ramping up soon (unrelated to the surprise)

Except for the seats the cockpit is basically done. It is the Hasegawa tub and rear IP, the Tamiya seats (at the finish) and front IP, throttle and side-sticks, and Eduard PE meant for the Hasegawa model, though some parts did not fit. The instrument panel PE was too wide, both for the Has as well as the Tam parts and so needed to be trimmed up. The front PE IP also needed to be cut in two and the sides sidled up to the central shroud. The front IP was then glued under the coaming to help with alignment and fit rather than to the tub. And the tub was glued into the upper fuselage. The instructions say to glue it to the bottom piece, but that was cut and changed so much I very much doubt it would have fit right.

Now to get a little nose weigh in there and finally close up the fuselage!

I started a project I wasn't  planning to work on till summer break, but because of some recent posts in the 'Look at This Really Cool Model Build' thread I got a little itchy to start.

Pics speak for themselves.

The proportions of the Hase. Kit are a little off for the TV SDF, but it's not that bad. The guns you see on the side are just placed there for figuring out placement.

My initial detailing of the curved cut out was way out of scale so I scrapped it and tried again. 2'nd attempt is much better, but we'll  see if it stays or If I try for a 3rd time.

The paint guide on this has got to be wrong. The instructions say that the 'blue' is a mix of 55% light grey (fs36495) 40% Aircraft Grey ( Mr.Hobby 73) and  Mr color CR3 ( primary yellow). I can't  for the life of me figure out how a 95% light grey with 5% yellow is gonna blend out the the dark blue they show on the box.

Granted I've never used( or heard of) the Mr.Hobby CR line, but apparently there are 3 primary colors: magenta, Cyan and yellow, meant for adding to other colors to tint/shade and blend your own.

Regardless of that I gotta think there's a misprint somewhere 'cus grey and yellow ain't  gonna turn into the dark blue they show.

 So I guess I'll just have to eyeball it and come up with my own mix.

It looks like it's  up for re-release in the next few weeks ( initial release was a few years ago). So it should be available in stores (online) soonish. Hobby Search had a preorder up, but it's closed now.

Been meaning to get back at this kit. 
the Engage SR3 Late Juone. 1:144 scale by Our Treasure. Test fit went ok. It needs some work in the seam department and some parts are a bit too snug. It’s a fixed pose kit based of the resin sculpt and doesn’t have any need for PC parts. The kit came with some optional diecast parts in the legs and soles of feet to make it heavier so it would be more stable. They also included two head options and some soft PVC hands.

Thanks @Chas! Yeah, the CA can get pretty messy. I use a toothpic sometimes for application, and sometimes clear gloss or Micro Kristal Klear if I want a longer setting time. And that conversion to the TV-version Macross is looking great! Shame Hasegawa barely made any changes to the kit when they reboxed it.
