nightmareB4macross Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I swear, all you guys have some very extraordinary talents. Keep the wonderful customs coming. My current progress on this old bird. GERWALK mode achieved via the magnets implemented to make the proper connection. New feet and knee joint still in progress. Quote

It's a great sculpt It was really nice that the helmet wasn't merged because it let me carefully add in the pop down visor separately. I'll def grab the milia later when I get to my M&M builds. These definitely look way better than the official hasegawa tv pilots that you can only obtain from gerwalk kits. Later on I will try and scale them up to 1/48 and see how they work in the dx' es and 1/48 Hase VF-1's Looks good...God I hate painting pilots😆 Quote

Just a bit of primer and then a quick panel lining to separate the areas that need color. Sometimes it’s fun just using some water color pencils since they’re easily erased and blended. Quote

Yeah, painting pilots usually just put pictures of ding dongs in the sky. It’s like they went back to high school after flight academy Quote
nonner242 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) Ok so I got my Yamato yesterday. Today I panel lined about half and glo painted also probably half. I really think other than the ARM the rest was a breeze. It really is a different beast painted..I'm glad I decided to do it and not wimp out or think it was gonna be hard. Do yourself the favor and at least attempt to..time may vary..I'm a pretty fast worker but not experienced😆 Ill have some clean up..or scraping to do to get nice lines here and there when dry. But I almost feel like I could leave it and most won't notice Sorry couldn't get pics to look good in dark room or even with colored lights..best I can get with phone to show effect🤔😒again not done yet but it's definitely moving fast...😁 Edited July 21 by nonner242 Quote
pengbuzz Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) UPDATE: A couple of projects- 1) Recently, I found a pair of metal Star Trek pins at a local thrift/consignment/ collectibles shop that I really liked: For the TOS one, I didn't like the "cut" that much in the middle, so I reground and polished up the entire pin (midway fitting during polishing here): I really like what it added to my TOS E's stand: The other one went to my Refit's stand/ plaque: I put it where a smear had happened on it; while not the most ideal location, it made it look 1000 times better IMO: 2) Recently received a B-wing model from a friend (:D ); I have another friend who loves the B-wing and whose birthday was recently. So, I began work on it- Cockpit and pilot in progress: Overall progress 1: Cockpit closeup (with canopy glass): Pepsi payload (:p ) Paint shop supports: Finished canopy/ cockpit: Nearly ready to ship out: At this point, just staring sadly at what was once Legioss/ Leader-1. I had intended to smash it to pieces with a hammer... ...but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So it sits in its' box. Stay tuned... Edited July 21 by pengbuzz Quote
nonner242 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I love that ship too...so damn small I would just crush it 😭 Nice work! Quote
Thom Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Looks great there, @pengbuzz! Your friend is going to really like that. Also glad you did not Hulk Smash! the Legios-1 (bits.) Let it sit, either you'll try it again, or the parts can come in handy.😉 Quote
derex3592 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Hello guys, After what has been the absolute worst 6 months of my entire life personally, I won't go into details here, I am slowly starting to pick up the pieces of my life one at a time and I realized I have to start living my life again and doing something for me that I enjoyed in order to heal and move forward. So, this morning, for the first time in what seems like an eternity, I felt like I was ready, and I pulled out my F-18 kit and got back into the decal application for about an hour before I went to church. If praying is in your life, please pray for me for what I'm going through, I need all the help I can get. I'm going to try to finish up the F-18 and then get back to the Bradley, the SR-71, the Cat's Eye and eventually the USS Texas and everything else in the stash in the closet. One day at a time. Thank you, Wes (derex3592) Quote

Hopefully picking up on a project helps at picking up the pieces and if prayer works for you, then keep on doing whatever helps get you through. Good lick on the rest of the project and hopefully some good comes down your way. Quote
Wewyllenium Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Remixed a 40cm file of the Iron Fossil from Darius down to a 15 cm figure with all the articulation and gimmicks carried over. Here's the prototype. Will be doing tweaks and head replacement for a King Fossil type. Quote

I wonder if, when it comes out, you could contact the company and just get specific parts..? I did the same with Moebius, contacting them direct when they were doing the Galactica models, and even buying 'damaged' kits. Quote

I think it would probably be a good idea, although they are currently pretty cheap on the preorder sale prices. They probably won’t go up much more after release though, maybe a couple bucks. Quote

Also, the kits come out in December and they want 30 BUCKS shipping. I don't have that kind of money even if someone lets me combine shipping with them!! Anyways, I'll see if they get them into my local hobby store(s) here at some point. If not, there's always ebay I guess. I'll find a way to get the stuff somehow. If not... either ebay or nevermind. Edited July 23 by pengbuzz Quote

I personally don’t think I have something coming up that month to tag this onto, but that 30 bucks is really only if you ship a single item most likely. In a combined shipment with the right person, sharing the shipping may be significantly less. Like if someone has a bunch of items on order, then the overall shipping on your part could only be a few dollars Quote
electric indigo Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Listening to Kenji Kawai's "IXTL" while modeling is the greatest experience. @MechTech that's Kaiyodo's 1/35 ARTPLA kit. I'm really glad I waited 25 years before building a Reactive Armor Ingram. Quote

MechTech Posted July 24 Posted July 24 @HWR MKII AWESOME job on the camo pattern! @nightmareB4macross DEFINITELY becoming one of the ultimate Chunky Monkey builds! @pengbuzz Tweaking those badges and them putting them on the stands brings the build up a whole notch! SWEET looking additions. Your friend will LOVE the B-wing! @nonner242 The fluorescent paint is next level cool! It's tiring, but the final outcome will be worth it! @electric indigo I LOVE Tamiya's weathering kits! They take a good paint job and then make it lifelike. Especially when adding dust or dirt weathering. I think you have just the right amount of weathering for a "realistic" Japanese mecha. They keep their weapon systems extra clean, but a mecha like this would even have some wear and it makes the fabric look more realistic too. - MT Quote

I love them as well, since it’s easy to explain buying yourself a glass nail file or nail clippers from the beauty store, but it’s a little weird looking at women’s compacts for earth tones. The hobby shop charges more, but it saves the embarrassment Quote
