joscasle, that's a perfect looking valk! I'm lovin' it! What'd that take? Say about 40 hours or so?

I just can't get around to finishing mine. I'm inspired by how good yours looks but I'm also discouraged because I know mine won't turn out as good as yours.

Thanks, yeah 40 hours approx. These is a little more challenging that de VF-1S because there is no decals, but you always can paint most of the principal markings.

The 1/48 VF-1 is far superior than the 1/72. I think is one of the best cience fiction model kits arround, including Bandai's star wars kits (I have a ton)

Derex, "Practice makes better." :)

I like that. "Perfection" is never really on the menu!

Well, it's been another hectic life and work weekend, but I at least got some primary color down on the X-Wing and finished my modified Death Star pink sperm hole... LOL.. I used a 20oz coke lid and painted it flat black, glued it on the bottom of the base and then made 4 little legs out of extra sprue. The inside of the lid had some texture to it, so I thought that it was a good idea that looked pretty cool. Base is just light gray Tamiya spray can and Tamiya black panel line accent color.

The thinking behind this build is to give the Mk. I Viper the same treatment some original designs received in the 2003 SyFy series. Specifically, I am referring to treatment given the 1977 Cylon Raider and Centurion and how they were "tweaked" a bit before appearing in Razor and Blood and Chrome. We see a Mk I in the background of the BSG miniseries in Galactica's launch bay museum, but never anything of it close enough to discern detail or see it in action. Among other things, I am adding a more realistic nu-BSG feel to the engines, aircrew, cockpit and other areas. I am also removing a LOT of greeblie detail in order to make this build look more like a predecessor to the Mk II and Mk III. This is based on the 1977 1/32 scale Monogram kit and it will not be lit.

I've tweaked the wing shape/size, intake "bear claw" looking things, the aircrew, ejection seat, exhaust nozzles and simplified the panel lines, among other things.  When I am done, this thing should look more like a predecessor to the Mk II and maintain that nu-BSG realism.  Perhaps this was Saul Tigh's mount in the first years of the war...

Comments and criticisms welcome.

Kenny

The interior coming together for my B-17B,

Hey Thom. You're putting a lot of work as usual into the interior scratch details.

Would you consider balancing an LED in there so you can admire the work when you're done?

Great to see a Viper in process.

And have people actually see all that? Are you crazy!?:shok: And deal with icky wires and death batteries full of acid that'll melt my plane?! Wow now...

^_^

For serious, I'm not much into lighting. Plus what's going inside is mostly representative. More than half of that may not even be seen, but on the off chance enough can be seen through the glazing I just want something there.  More to do though!

The more photos the better. I particularly want close ups of each cockpit from all angles. So thats 12 more photos :D

Nice coat of red, and I like how your panel details pop out on the close up shots. Question: does the 1/20 have any more panel details than the 1/48?

So the little experience that I got chopping up a chunky 1/55 gave me the idea to try creating some figures for a game I'm really into, Darkstalkers.  The game is a classic of the Street Fighter-style genre, but has never been as popular and never had a good toy line produced.  SOTA toys did make a great Street Fighter line and produced some proto-types for Darkstalkers, but they never got made and sold.

So I thought I'd give it a shot.  Mind you, my painting skills are REALLY poor, I just don't have the patience for it.

I have some more characters on the way, such as another sculpt on top of LEGO, for Sasquatch and some more basic conversions for the Vampire, Dimitri, and the Damphyr, Donovan.

That's pretty cool customs. The only characters I remember are Morrigan and Felicia because of their cosplays.

Could anyone give me the dimensions on a 1/72 VF-1, wheels down, no supers (LxWxH).

I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Great work guys! And I am especially loving the 1/48 VF-1s.

I can tell you what isn't on my workbench any more...this VF-0B! Finally finished two years after I started it. Rubbish pictures but better ones will have to wait until after I move cities.

I remember that scheme from before. Always loved it! Nice to see it done. But warning, I will be zooming in!!!!

As for that 63mm height, is that from the top of the open tail fins?

Thanks Arbit! Zoom away! It couldn't be any worse than the judges at last weekend's model show. And no I didn't pick up and places as there are far too many flaws. I only entered for a laugh.

Yep 63mm to the top of the deployed tail fins.

That scheme must have been quite a headache to pull off, but it was worth it.

Thanks dude! It did take a while. I may do another kit in the future in a similar pattern but different colours.
