Mommar Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 IMO the difference is fairly obvious, but I did say it could just be an effect caused by the forced perspective of the CAD though. Also the cockpit looks flatter than in the prototype. Side-by-side you are right, it does look longer. I guess we'll find out how that winds up working out. Unless Graham wants/can chime in on this.
Reïvaj Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Anyone know if the gunpod is going to split into two and mounted in the legs just like in the Macross7 show? Graham Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Anyone know if the gunpod is going to split into two and mounted in the legs just like in the Macross7 show? I always liked the little cutscene where Gamlin transforms into bot mode and out pops the gun pod, combines the pieces, aims and fires. Just to clarify, in the anime, the gunpod does not split into two pieces. The shoulder stock splits lengthwise down the middle and then folds up around the barrel/magazine of the gunpod and then the folded gunpod is stored completely in the right leg. What you may be getting mixed up with is the orange color beam gun adaptor, which is stored seperately in the left leg. When Gamlin wants to convert the standard 40mm gunpod to a single use high-powered beam weapon, he ejects the orange beam gun adapter from the right leg, removed the gunpod's standard shell magazine from the gunpod, attaches the beam gun adaptor and then fires the single use high powered beam. I'll confirm that the gunpod will store internally in the Yamato toy. However, due to space limitation caused by the size of the gunpod, the storage is not 100% anime accurate. With the knee joint, ankle joint, cross pegs for screws, landing gear, there is space limitation in 1/60 scale. And yes, the actual physical sculpt looks much better than those 3D CADs. Graham

kamadoma Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I think I would be okay even if the gunpod storage isn't 100% accurate to the show. The fact that such a huge gun could fit inside is already a feat.
Uxi Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Has it been said if the beam adapter would come with the base VF-17S or if it would part of an FP upgrade?
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Graham, which joints in battroid mode have detents and ratchets? For me, the more click joints, the better! Does the proto feel as solid as the Fire Valkyrie?
Reïvaj Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Graham, which joints in battroid mode have detents and ratchets? For me, the more click joints, the better! Does the proto feel as solid as the Fire Valkyrie? I have to say prototypes never feel solid, nor even the VF-19's did...
charger69 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) BOMBAAAAA Edited September 26, 2011 by charger69
kurdt_the_goat Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Finally, and looking awesome to boot!
Mommar Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 BOMBAAAAA Where'd you find this pic? I guess from those slits we know where the super packs are going to attach.
charger69 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) Where'd you find this pic? It's from Yamato's website Yamato - 1/60 VF-17S Edited September 26, 2011 by charger69
Mommar Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I'd be really surprised if that gun fit in it's leg now.
kamadoma Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Well, Graham did say the gun would have an internal storage but it won't be 100% show accurate. I'm fine with that rather than having to stow the gun away somewhere like my VF-22S.
Ignacio Ocamica Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) BOMBAAAAA I never thought I'd be so happy to quote that word!!! Thanks for the pic, the VF-17 is looking awesome. Edited September 26, 2011 by Ignacio Ocamica
MacrossJunkie Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Not bad at all. I'd like to see a profile shot of that bird.
Mommar Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Just like it appears in the CAD image, this thing is going to have MONSTER shoulders.
Jasonc Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 That looks absolutely awesome. Sack lunches for awhile.
UN Spacy Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 #UCKING SICK. Preordering as soon as AmiAmi lists her.
EXO Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Wow. Did they really pull it off? I gotta see the transformation and all the features but so far it looks good. Landing gears FTW. C'mon Yamato! Better figure out those brittle plastic problems beforehand this time!
Mommar Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) I hope the pics start coming fast and furious now. Now that we've seen an official shot from Yamato is there anything else you can let us in on about them Graham? Edited September 26, 2011 by Mommar
Reïvaj Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) According to Cybergundam, the MSRP for the VF-17S is 22,000Yen, in line with the recent and current releases. Source: http://blog.yahoo.com/cybergundam/articles/51229/index Edited September 26, 2011 by Reïvaj

kamadoma Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Glorious. As far as Fighter mode is concerned, I'm sold. Though I'll have to wait and see if there would be any issues (knocks on wood). I hope the two other modes would look awesome too.
anime52k8 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 That's not surprising but I was really hoping it wouldn't be $300+. and 22,000JPY = 287.87USD. I see no problem here.
Mommar Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 and 22,000JPY = 287.87USD. I see no problem here. That price does not include shipping.
Kanedas Bike Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 and 22,000JPY = 287.87USD. I see no problem here. If you factor in shipping then you're north of $ 300. AND if one was to purchase from a site like BBTS or off of eBay then you're looking at another mark-up. Re: the recent prototype picture, not a huge fan of the VF-17 per say but damn Yamato can design some good looking toys. -b.
Actar Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 That price does not include shipping. With AmiAmi's discount, below 300 is a realistic amount.
Ghost Train Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Color is wrong, and why is cockpit clear? Definitely a pass.... Juuuust kiiding!
Twoducks Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Isn't Yamato risking it a bit by doing so little promotion of their big next releases? Bandai has been bombarding us with the 29 and the V2 25 for months.
Mommar Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 With AmiAmi's discount, below 300 is a realistic amount. I'm not going to assume AmiAmi has a discount. If I haven't seen it advertised as such then it isn't that cheap yet. As it stands it's $300+ with shipping. $290+ with shipping isn't a huge step up.
