Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Thanks for the pics!! The VF-17 can't hit the streets soon enough. It's going to be mid or late January until I get it delivered to Argentina
Arthurius Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Finally, a nice pic of the batroid!!!! I still cant tell if this has a neck and head can point down a bit though.
anime52k8 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Interestingly Yamato's interpretation is really close to Experten's in terms of proportions! I'm not really seeing it. Also, I seriously hope Yamato's -17D head sculpt turns out better than that. The kit's head is kind of hideous.
ErikElvis Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 That properly posed battroid looks great. Im gonna need a bigger cabinet
VF5SS Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I'm not really seeing it. Also, I seriously hope Yamato's -17D head sculpt turns out better than that. The kit's head is kind of hideous. Yeah I think it's more of a case of Experten's kit and the Yamato toy have the same goal in terms of design. gotta make the VF-17D head look nice in profile lasers optional
Reïvaj Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Interestingly Yamato's interpretation is really close to Experten's in terms of proportions! Well, I can see both interpretations are of a VF-17 but no, in terms of proportions I don’t think they’re that close. Actually, I see more differences than similarities, one of the bigger ones being the rendition of the wings in batroid mode.
eugimon Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Interestingly Yamato's interpretation is really close to Experten's in terms of proportions! The nose lengths are pretty different, the arm lengths are significantly different. The upper legs are supposed to be pointy as are the flat lower legs as they make up the bottom of the fighter mode. Other than the fact that they're both trying to look like the anime... edit: also look at how greatly different the wing lengths are as well as how wide the back is. To me it looks like the Experten tries to get the triangle fighter mode shape with a wide body while Yamato has a slimmer body and longer wings. Pretty different from each other, imo. knoted Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Considering the limited amount of proper pics to compare these two....I might actually prefer the Experten's battroid mode proportions, but the Yamato does the fighter mode better. But yeah, no final conclusions until we see the final Yamato VF17.
Mommar Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 It's nice to see the Battroid mode in a more dynamic pose now. It's still obviously a painted prototype.
Mommar Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 The VF-17 can't hit the streets soon enough. It's going to be mid or late January until I get it delivered to Argentina Totally off topic, you're from Argentina? I'm addicted to Tango.
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Yes, I'm from Argentina land of the Tango
Mommar Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Yes, I'm from Argentina land of the Tango Okay, so I'm aware not every single one of you does it but it is a HUGE cultural export for you guys.
Twoducks Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Ouch, I really like how they do the wings on the Experten kit. Makes the upper body look more like the anime version.
Graham Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 The new Dengeki Hobby magazine, out today has a 2 page spread of an unpainted AND & forecast diecast test shot. Will scan & post later tonight. Graham
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Graham, it's the January magazine right? I'll have to wait 2/3 weeks to receive it.
Graham Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Scans attached from the January 2012 issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine. I like that they used red plastic for the ABS and diecast test shot, kind of gives an idea what the Milia version would look like Transformation is definitely a bit more complicated thatn the old Bandai 1/65 DX version! Graham
knoted Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Thanks Graham ! Fighter mode looks extremely sharp. Battroid mode : thigh legs seem a little bit measly for the humongous lower legs.
eriku Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Mmmmm....candy. It's good to see how the transformation works.
Fly4victory Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I like that they used red plastic for the ABS and diecast test shot, Milia, yes, but also shows stress cracks and stress points, the red plastic would turn pink. Lots of effort is going into this.
Ignacio Ocamica Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Wow, thanks for the scans Graham!!!
UN Spacy Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 UGH. It looks horrible...I'd rather have the old 1/65. Now that I have your attention. I need at least two of em.
Reïvaj Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Wow! I mean look at that amazing piece of engineer! I would’ve never thought the transformation gimmicks were so complex and awesome at the same time! Thanks for the scans, Graham!
eugimon Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I really like how they have that flap in place to close up all the gaps in the under carriage in fighter mode as well as all the other little details, like the nose cone folding up. I went from being pretty 'meh' about this release to being excited for it
ff95gj Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Scans attached from the January 2012 issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine. Graham I really hope the Millia version would get released. I am worrying about bad sales (owing to price! not engineering) would hinder it. Oh, did I mention that I won't mind a Max version? If they can do a LV VF-1S for Focker, I can't see why they cannot do a Max VF-17S.
Twoducks Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Great pics, thanks Graham! Finally the bird gets some love. A gimmick I would have liked A LOT is a pair of interchangeable smaller wings for battroid mode. That way it could look like it does in the anime. Same stuff Bandai pulls off with some SOC combiners when anime magic makes parts bigger or smaller: perfect transformation but extra parts to make the toy look better.
Chronocidal Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Why didn't they show this earlier? I'm in for two, a Millia and Gamlin D.
nightmareB4macross Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 That scan is pure bot-porn. I too am in for a Milia and Gamlin version!!
Graham Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Why didn't they show this earlier? Because ABS test shots have only recently been made, that's why. Graham
Graham Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 After seeing the mag scans, I hope you all understand a bit better, why 100% anime accurate storage of the gunpod was not possible, given the size of the gunpod relative to the lower leg. I think Yamato's gunpod storage is a good compromise solution. Graham
Tking22 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I really do hope they make a 17D, since I just finished Mac7 again I really got into the 17, but not the s. And as far as a Millia repaint goes, no thanks, it was in what, one episode?
Chronocidal Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Because ABS test shots have only recently been made, that's why. Graham Oh I didn't really mean abs test shots specifically, I just meant that up to now, we've had next to no pictures of this thing at all. I believe this is the first time any of us have really seen the back side of it, let alone any of the details involved in the transformation.
aurance Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I really like how they have that flap in place to close up all the gaps in the under carriage in fighter mode as well as all the other little details, like the nose cone folding up. I went from being pretty 'meh' about this release to being excited for it Yeah, this is some amazing engineering. Can't wait for the "D"!
Loop Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks for the pics Graham, I might get a "S" and a "D" now. I had originally planned it that way, but was turned off by the initial pics.
