I have more than 30 yamato 1/48 VF-1s with FAST packs.

The Yamato boxes are too damn space consuming.

There's at least 50% worth of empty space in the stupid big box.

The whole VF-1 and super strike parts could jolly well fit into the FAST pack box.

Has anyone ever considered getting custom boxes made to store the 1/48's

in compact mode (wings folded in, tail-fins folded down)?

I figure we'd just need to get the thermoformed plastic trays and cardboard boxes made.

Just looking to bounce some ideas off other people.

I agree the old 1/48 boxes are very big and should have been made smaller, this is good for everybody as they cost less to make, they take less room and they also cost alot less to ship (shipping is a killer on these guys...).

Yamato has begun shrinking them down as can be seen with the last 2 reissues of the 1/48 VF-1S (and they could still be made smaller). So you can sell all and wait for every 1/48 to be reissued ;). But this might not be a good idea given the numer of limited models...

30??? You need 3 of everything?

IIRC, in the past a few members would take the valkyries out of the original boxes. Bag the valkyries and accessories Place them in totes. Then flatten the boxes. Trays would be stacked seperately. And manual and stickers sheets would be filed away in folders or in the same totes.

There were pictures of Kensei's collection demonstrating this very method.

I always thought about doing this myself, but as my collection grows, everytime I get a new shipment in I have to reorganize my allocated storage.

The good thing is I am done collecting 1/48s, I have more than enough.

Sell them for 1/60 version two's.

Seconded. the 1/60v.IIs are so far advanced over the 1/48 it isn't funny,

and this is coming from a person who nominally has the greatest antipathy towards the "New-Now-Wow"

Don't turn this into another 1/48 vs. 1/60 V.2 thread.

We all get it, we understand, you've made yourself loud and clear, your point is clear, we know what your saying...

...redundancy makes your point very bland.

Please just offer a solution or your two cents to the topic at hand.

Thanks,

had the same problem

25 vf1 1/48 scale.

I have flatened the out boxes and inserts in two big cardboards

i made the same with the macross zero boxes and the vb6 boxes.

In an other cardboard I superposed the plastic insert.

and in a last cardboard I superposed all the vfs

I reduced the volume was taking Valks boxes around 70 percent.

wish I could help you

but you should take care to the cardboard with all the exterior boxes was very heavy (around 27 kilos)
