got a question here;

i heard on this site; http://www.toyark.com/news/macross-toy-news-51/vf-hi-metal-vf-1j-hikaru-custom-in-color-2488/

that "Tamashii" the person/team responsible for the design of the new 1/100 HI-METAL VF-1s,

is the very same person/team responsible for the BANDAI High Complete Models of the mid-eighties.

can anyone confirm or deny this?

Hmm... I think as close a line as you're going to be able to conclusively draw is that they're both Bandai products (of which Tamashii is a division of).

Logically speaking, it's highly unlikely. The HCM was designed over 25 years ago. The people who worked on the HCM would've long retired or moved onto different positions by now.

I suppose it possible that maybe one guy from the HCM design team were in a management position to oversee the Hi-Metal project, but that's just wild conjecture.

Tamashii=Bandai, or rather, their collectors' division.

However in that news post I did not state that the specific designer of the HCM worked on the VF HI METAL. I said that the VF-1 is not new to Tamashii since Bandai made the HCM back in the 80's. I don't know if the HCM designer(s) remained at Bandai or moved on.
