areaseven
Film score composer John Barry died of a heart attack on January 30. He is best known for the soundtracks to 11 James Bond 007 films - namely five Sean Connery films, George Lazenby's lone stint On Her Majesty's Secret Service, four Roger Moore films and one Timothy Dalton film (The Living Daylights). In addition, Barry won five Academy Awards for Best Original Score for Born Free, Out of Africa, The Lion in Winter and Dances with Wolves. The world has lost yet another great soundtrack composer. R.I.P. John Barry (1933-2011).
Mercurial Morpheus
A legend of the field. His themes always had a boldness to them forgotten or ignored by other composers. My favorite non-Bond being his theme to Zulu. Makes me want to take over a small country or have a rip roaring adventure. He will be missed. ae_productions
I was listening to the Dances with Wolves soundtrack yesterday. The man was in a league of his own.
