EXO Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Yamato would never base their sculpt on a wave kit. They'd design in to look like the art and to work with the transformation of the toy. The thing I don't like about the drawings I don't like is when they draw the visor with the V shape. Sometimes they do it with the flat visor and I think that looks pretty good. But in any case, it's finally a 1J with the skull on it. Quote
Bri Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'd buy it. The scheme is nice enough, besides I want to keep my line-up of Hikaru valks complete. Quote
Dobber Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) Graham, there more changes to the 1J than just the head and pilot. Image taken from the Macross ace thread. If Yamato could actually make the changes to the canopy, head ect...and not just repaint ala the VFX, I'd buy it. Chris Edited January 31, 2011 by Dobber Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Now is this offical is Bandai going to make it, if this is true I hope it isn't exculsive. Quote
charger69 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Bandai 1/100 VF-1J The First! That was fast... Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 IIRC wasn't that just a promo about a decal sheet from an issue of Macross Ace to make your Hi-Metal tv VF-1J look like it's Macross The First version? Let's not start jumping the gun so soon folks. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I would. I'd prefer it with a flat visor, not the V shaped one. Quote
CF18 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 First that Bandai scan appeared a long time ago and there was never any confirmation of a "The First" VF-1J release. As for the potential Yamato release I will wait and see. What if the manga will have some super cool fast-pack later but need new mold so Yamato wouldn't make them? Quote
Jasonc Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I voted YES, due to the fact that if Yamato does it, it won't look like a balloon head on a toothpick. The paint scheme is pretty good, and it's definitely something different. As for the head sculpt, I have mixed feelings on it. Some pics, like in the actual manga, it usually looks just fine. But then you see that kit, and the calendar, and I think, "WTF???" It's a sculpt that can be very well, or look like garbage. Also, I agree that the canopy should be redone as it is in that lineart. Seems like only a small retooling. JUST DON'T MAKE IT AN EXCLUSIVE!!! Quote
dizman Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Interesting design and colorscheme but it's not something I would buy. It would probably be some sort of Yamato website exclusive if it did get made. Quote

eriku Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I like the scheme and the head. Would I buy it? As a general release, yes. As an exclusive/limited release, no. Quote
EXO Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 An exclusive? Screw that! WTF Yamato!!! jk... just putting my panic hat on for practice. Quote
eugimon Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 If it's more like the manga with the flat top visor then I'll probably pick one up.. I think I'd just like to see more polished line art first to get a better sense of what it's supposed to look like. I am curious to see what the updated fast packs will look like. Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hell yes I'd buy it! Neat take on Hikaru's VF-1J. Quote
Dobber Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Yeah, wasn't suggesting that there would be a hi metal release, I just remembered I'd seen a picture of the new J that showed some other differences to Fighter mode...namely the canopy. That would be a must for me if yamato decided to make one. Chris Quote
Rabidweezil Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 An exclusive? Screw that! WTF Yamato!!! jk... just putting my panic hat on for practice. I can just see it, get opinions from us MW members if we would purchase this, then make it an exclusive those of use outside of Japan cannot buy seems about right Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Yes for me. Anything that Hikaru pilots is needed in my display. Kill for the new 1D head!!! Quote
Frogze Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 The images from that manga look great, no doubt I'd get one if it was to be a general release. A 1D too and I'm very curious about what the 1S looks like in this book. Has it been redesigned as well? Quote
nexxstrait Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 From the answers here I assume that MANY of you mwers are not reading the manga. Shame on you!!!!!! Now go out at once and grab a copy of vol 1 & 2, then come back to the Macross The First dedicated thread and praise sensei Mikimoto as it should. Quote

Good point I'll try to pick it up although I'm more into anime Macross than the mangas. Eventually I picked up Mikimoto's "Macross 7 Trash" many years ago and I found it very boring. Quote

Maybe, but it's drawn so inconsistently, enough for me to prefer one way over the other. Quote
eugimon Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 maybe the new visor is made out of the morphing material like the yf-21's wing? So it's emotive like spider-man's eye lenses... sad hikaru, angry hikaru, stoic hikaru! Quote

bigkid24 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'm going to say no. It looks like a modified DYRL paint scheme and I'm kind of sick of it. So no I wouldn't buy it, I'd rather see Yamato work on something else. Of course it if got made and ended up on sale at HLJ....well....that's another story. Quote
Raptor One Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Tell Yamato to sponsor a Macross the First anime... then sell us the toys This would be perfect. But they should start with a Macross The Ride OVA Quote
Froy Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Hell yes! VF-1J Fan. This could be great fresh new addition to VF-1 v.2. line next to the VF-1X. No more low vis. or stealth color schemes for A or S, I hate them. Quote
GU-11 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Voted yes. Totally in love with the updated VF-1 looks. Hell, go for it; I'll buy 'em all! Quote
BlueMax Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 This would be perfect. But they should start with a Macross The Ride OVA Regarding Yamato sponsoring a Macross anime.... well, I always thought this should be the way for Yamato: Best form of advertisement for Macross toys. Quote
ae_productions Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I'd get one. Especially if it leads to new and exciting Macross items we would not normally otherwise get to see get made into a toy. Quote
miriya Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I love the new head sculpt and the color scheme. Looks great in my opinion. Quote
Kanedas Bike Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Voted yes. I was on the fence but the pics that >EXO< posted sold me on it. -b. Quote
