Renato Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Yamato Toys are inviting the downtrodden plebian folk to hang around their offices and play with their toys for one day only this Sunday 23rd of January 2011! See the prototype of the new VF-19kai up close and personal, get a hands-on experience of the much-coveted 1/3000 SDF-1, and take part in raffles and other competitions to win stuff you would otherwise have to sell kidneys for! Details: http://www.yamato-toys.com/showroom/201101/index.html Map: http://www.yamato-toys.com/company/map.html They nicked this idea from MW-Con and one-upped us -- it's the Yamato 1/60 VF-1 time trial competition! http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/index.php?logid=301 Don't miss this unique experience for us lowly dregs of society to mingle with royalty! Kicker773 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 will there be anything for sale there? Quote
Reïvaj Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Renato, you’re very lucky for being able to go there. Enjoy yourself, take as many pictures as you can if you’re allowed to, and share them and your impressions with us next Monday!!! Quote
Reïvaj Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 First pics of the Yamato Open Showroom! The blur area in the second photo is where the VF-19FIRE is going to be. Taking pictures is forbidden, so we count on you the attendees to tell us everything you see there! http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/ Quote
Save Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 will there be anything for sale there? Yes they will be selling their stuff usually dirt cheap since Tax season is around the corner and they don't want to pay taxes on inventory sitting in stock. Quote
Tochiro Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Was 15th person in line but all the cheap stuff wen faaaaaaast! Having said that, I got the following haul for a grand total of 16000yen. Yes thats right, less than the standard RRP of a single valk! Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 It was also mentioned that Yamato did a timed transformation contest very similar to the one I participated in at the last MWCON. Plus I just saw this on their Twitter page. http://twitpic.com/3sjyc3 Quote
EXO Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Everyone is saying that they got the idea from MWCon... I wish we had confirmation. That would be a fun thing just to know. We all thought about doing the contest with a Yamato toy but it's just too expensive for anyone to volunteer their toys to be messed with by others. Plus some members here can transform a chunky monkey in seconds. Quote
505thAirborne Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 VF4 2012!!!!!!! Lets hope so Kicker, lets hope so!!!! Quote
Renato Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Time for some visuals! The 1/2000 SDF-White-Chocolate version. Only 210,000 yen. The gang's all here. Playtime The wishlist! Tochiro's Haul of Fame Crowd control. Can you believe this many people stormed Akihabara just to get at the dirt cheap valks? Video coming soon! Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 OMG Renato. THANKS! I love the VF-4 in a huge print on that whiteboard Quote
Renato Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 (edited) God help me, I couldn't resist... OMG Renato. THANKS! I love the VF-4 in a huge print on that whiteboard Yeah, be aware that this is just that, a "wishlist", or rather a space for people to write requests for what they want Yamato to make. So you'll see things like Phalanxes and TV SDF-1s. I put the Orguss in there for good measure. The doodles in the bottom corner are explanations of the transformation 'cos me and this other guy were the only people who remembered that show. Edited January 24, 2011 by Renato Quote
KiriK Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 holy jeebus, all those people in the crowd were trying to go to the Yamato showroom thing?? that looks more crowded than a street at comic con! Quote
Renato Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 holy jeebus, all those people in the crowd were trying to go to the Yamato showroom thing?? that looks more crowded than a street at comic con! Nah, of course not, that was just a joke. It just happened to be the first day of reopening the streets to the public since they that incident. Every Sunday until June, roads will be closed to traffic and open to pedestrians again. http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20110124a3.html Tochiro and I were interviewed and asked to comment on the happenings. I was interviewed by Tokyo MX News, but it seems I was cut from the programme. According to Save I was too spiteful. I have good reason, we were almost arrested, you know! Tochiro may appear in the Yomiuri Shimbun, though, so looking forward to that. Quote

Tochiro Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 And if this has taught us anything its that we should never let Renato play with the SDF1. ..... or a video camera. Quote

Shaorin Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) They nicked this idea from MW-Con and one-upped us -- it's the Yamato 1/60 VF-1 time trial competition! http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/index.php?logid=301 oh. my. gawd. i mean, i realize it was a time trial and all, but, UGH!! i could NEVER stomach manipulating my 1/60v.II so ham-fistedly!! at least that frightening video just proved to me just how rugged a properly manufactured 1/60v.II VF-1 actually is!!
