David Hingtgen Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I'm curious as to how rare it is, on MW at least. Rarer than the Low-Vis V1, etc? I don't really care who *doesn't* own one, I suspect 99% of MW doesn't, so there's no "no" option. Quote
eugimon Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 what about people who own more than one? Not that I own more than one, but I'm sure we have some people who do. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 I considered it, but I doubted anyone does. Note to people---if by some chance you DO have multiple green VF-27's, don't vote yet, let me know and I'll change the poll. Quote
typhoon Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Yeah I think I was lucky with my green Vf-27, a member here opted out of the group by and I took over his purchase. Quote
jenius Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Grace ftw. I try to keep only one (or two if it's iconic enough) of each toy so I kept my greenie and sold my Brera VF-27. Quote
Kicker773 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Just out of curiosity, what is so special about the green valk? Quote
eugimon Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Just out of curiosity, what is so special about the green valk? it was a japan only websclusive and it came with the fold booster. So if you live outside of japan, you needed to buy it through a proxy service which bumped up the price a bit. Quote
Kicker773 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 aaaahh ic ic.. well no Mac F valks yet.. the only mac F i have are some sheryl figures....hmmm will keep that in mind in the near future maybe...how is the quality? Quote
eugimon Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 aaaahh ic ic.. well no Mac F valks yet.. the only mac F i have are some sheryl figures....hmmm will keep that in mind in the near future maybe...how is the quality? Quality is a mixed bag. Articulation is better than the 25, it has the thigh swivels but it has the same problems with the wonky shoulder pivot point. GERWALK mode is much better than the 25 but maybe not as aggressive as on yamato. Plastic quality is the same as the 25's.. so it's glossy and comes covered in mold release. Paint is still a bit delicate with some people having problems with it scratching off though if you follow the instructions you should be alright. Joints seem to be self atrophying over time like the 25's have been doing but there haven't been the same sort of reports of the hinges cracking like some of the 25's have. Details are a LOT better. much better pilot figure, better landing gears, jewel inserts for the sensors. They're nice. If you're a fan of the design you shouldn't feel nervous about picking one up. David Hingtgen Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Don't forget that the legs actually go up high enough to fit flush with the back plate etc in fighter mode, that's one of the big improvements over the -25. Overall I think the -27 is 10x better than the -25, when it comes to the DX version. And of course, Grace's is olive-green. Fairly unique color for a valk--Brera's would have been unique if not for Nora, but now it just seems like a copy of Nora's, minus the gold. The Sv-51 and VF-27 both have that Russian-Flanker-spiky-canards look to them, so having TWO in the same general magenta color seems redundant, considering how few "main character" valks we've gotten in the past decade. Only other green valk I can think of is Luca's, and his is a pale minty green. Quote
505thAirborne Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Pictures?? If you have one and out of the box, show it off! Quote
jenius Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 If anyone hasn't seen it, I did update my VF-27 post on anymoon.com some time ago with pics and info on the Greenie - Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Already posted these in the DX VF-27 thread, but: Quote
Graham Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I wanted to get one of the greenie DX cannon-fooder VF-27 toys, but the retail price in HK was too high (HK$1,800 IIRC). So I don't have one. Graham Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Yeah, but you bought TWO Breras IIRC. Quote
505thAirborne Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks for the pics David, that is one sweet VF-27! The varied green paint scheme is amazing, far better looking than Breras IMO! Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 11 votes so far? More than I expected. Quote
ae_productions Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Own, no. Want, yes. I guess I'm the lighter shade of gray statistic that doesn't count in this poll. Quote
Tking22 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 This is probably the ONLY mac frontier mech/vehicle I'd like to get, which sucks because it's exclusive and too damn expensive. Quote
ff95gj Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I don't like it enough, but I do have one. Quote
Nicaragua Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I love this valk, it looks like hell on toast. I dont have one yet but my next purchase is a toss up between this or one of the VF-11's. Quote
regult Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I don't like it enough, but I do have one. Would you want to get rid of it? I've been tempted like Graham at one point, but last time I checked locally and in Tokyo, the price was going off the roof. Quote

I've been tempted like Graham at one point, but last time I checked locally and in Tokyo, the price was going off the roof. I thought hard about it, but decided I might regret if I sell it. Sorry man. I've planned, in years to come, when finally Yamato gets a license to make MF valks, I would display the DX in fighter mode and the Yammies in Battroid mode. Quote
Renato Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I love this valk, it looks like hell on toast. I dont have one yet but my next purchase is a toss up between this or one of the VF-11's. If it really is a toss-up and you like both designs equally, I would suggest the VF-11. I have a green DX 27 but it's so floppy and loose that it's hard to pose it in any way at all now. It definitely is a vast improvement over the 25, and I'm very glad I got it, it looks cool and menacing, but it seems that all Bandais are destined to become floppy lumps of crap eventually. I got my VF-22 in the same week and it's as stiff as the day I took it out of the box. Quote
Quintessa Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I brought one in Akiba while I was on holiday in early January for 14,000+ yen, I'm very happy with it. Quote
anubis20 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I hosted a group buy so I definitely own one Quote
Uxi Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Never really wanted it, though I did want the Supah Foldo Boosta. Gallia set on evilbay always seemed too expensive to justify, though. Quote
Dobber Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Don't have but want, so I just bought the Green 1/72 model instead a week ago. Chris Quote
