Black Valkyrie Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Not a big Hathaway fan. I don't dislike her or anything but she's not even in the top 50 I think for who I'd pick for Catwoman. Same here Quote
troyness Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Anne will probably be good in it.......with lighting and make up and a sexy attitude purr...but in real life her bug eyed head + rat teeth brings her down to a 6/10. Put it this way I wouldn,t like to see her without make -up, hair tied back in natural lighting...after I,ve just eaten. Edited January 20, 2011 by troyness Quote

electric indigo Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Give Catwoman an edge and cast Noomi Rapace. She would fit perfectly into the Nolanverse. Quote
Zor Primus Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Nice...Hathaway is hawt, good eye candy for the movie. Get ready for the love drama that is sure to come between Bats/Cats & Bruce/Selena. Just hope they do a better job this time around with Bane...his original movie debut was pathetic and a spit in the face to his comic counterpart. Quote
Wanzerfan Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I certainly hope that they don't nerf Bane like they did with the Burtonesque films; at least get someone with muscle on their frame, and not someone who looked like he really enjoyed his beer and burgers. Quote

The guy playing Bane was muscular in Bronson, which is an amazing film BTW. Quote
BeyondTheGrave Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 +1 3D was stupid in the 70s, and its stupid now. So your on the fence? Quote
azrael Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 A few sites have noticed that WB's press release says Anne will play "Selina Kyle", not "Catwoman". Wonder if that's suppose to mean something...Cuz when the character was introduced in 1940, she was just a mysterious thief known as "The Cat", with no costume. I wonder if Nolan is taking another point from the original introduction (like the Joker). Quote

He could also adopt some of the Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths and Earth-2 stuff and have Batman reforming and marrying Selina and she could become Batwoman. Does this mean that Nolan is going to conclude his trilogy with no Robin? I'm sure that most of us hope so. Quote
hutch Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Christopher Nolan loves him some ugly wimmins Quote
Negotiator Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) My girlfriend and I were discussing Anne as Catwoman, and she brought up the point that Catwoman can be played as a strong woman. Not just trying to be sexy like purring or licking herself, no, more like...I guess Batman. Catwoman has to be smart. Anne isn't some small, skinny little thing either. If she had to crack someone's face, I'd believe it. Nobody knew what kind of Joker would come out of Heath, I'll put trust in Nolan on this one, and believe it won't be a rehash of Michelle Pfieffer or anywhere near Hale Berry. I got no probz with Picard's clone. He's always good. Edited January 21, 2011 by Negotiator Quote

Nobody knew what kind of Joker would come out of Heath, I'll put trust in Nolan on this one, and believe it won't be a rehash of Michelle Pfieffer or anywhere near Hale Berry. Good argument. The casting of Ledger threw people off (people here didn't think it was a bad choice, just an odd one) and that turned out fine if not better. The same could potentially happen with Anne. I got no probz with Picard's clone. He's always good. Only thing with Hardy is, he might wanna bulk up for Bane. Although I hear he looks a little bigger than the last time we saw him in theaters. David Hingtgen Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Yeah, but the Joker didn't have "visual appeal to men when in a catsuit" as the character's primary defining aspect. Quote

Mog Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 No complaints from me... Okay, is it just me, or is Ms. Havoc Hathaway giving off an Eva Green-like (the Bond Girl in Casino Royale) vibe in this pic? they should do more detective work and gadgets like the batman should be. Totally agree about the detective angle. Seriously, after all the Batman films that have come out over the years, this is the one aspect of Bats that really hasn't gotten a lot of attention or has just been completely ignored in the live-action films. Besides, I'm sure Nolan would love to do another detective/noir-style film. Quote
ae_productions Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Same here She'll be great. Not too many people were excited about his casting for the Joker, and Heath Leadger knocked that out of the park. Chris Nolan's Batman series is exceptional. This will be his LAST Batman film, and I am excited to see how he wraps it up. We'll be in for a real treat in 2012. In Nolan I trust. Quote
troyness Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I hope we see Bane lifting batman over his head and breaking his back over one knee...imagine that in surround sound..hilerious!! Quote
taksraven Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I hope we see Bane lifting batman over his head and breaking his back over one knee...imagine that in surround sound..hilerious!! Possible, but not likely. Wouldn't fit in with Nolan's attempt at a *more* realistic comic book hero film, esp. if Batman is walking again by the end of the film. This film is going to have to be about redemption, Batman winning the people back, proving that he is different to the Joker and what Harvey Dent became. And Selina Kyle, whatever she becomes, is going to take the journey with him. Quote
troyness Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I hear ya taksraven. I was hoping for a" bat back break" & then Nolan incorporating a "batman of the future/Beyond" capless suit..enhancing speed/strength of some football pro(NOT DICK GRAYSON) posing as batman to finish the film off as Bruce heals in his own good time while Anne,s catsuit has goggles!! Quote
CoryHolmes Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 This will be his LAST Batman film, and I am excited to see how he wraps it up. Unlikely, given the amount of money this franchise has sucked in. The studio will continue pumping them out until the franchise is too old and tired for anything else. See X-Men, Spider-Man... Quote

Einherjar Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) When I hear Anne Hathaway being Selina Kyle, I strangely think back to the Batman: The Animated Series version of the character. I really don't know why. Also, it might be interesting because, from what I know, she had no connections with the mob or any secret organizations in the verse. She's just a thief who works independently. Bane, however, could be connected to the mob as a hitman to take out Batman, like in TAS. Also, he might give Batman the beating of his life before the end of the movie as part of Batman's redemption and calling to keep going with his duty. Edited January 22, 2011 by Einherjar Quote
Keith Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 The more I think about it, the more I like the casting choice. Give her a short cute haircut and some dark eyeliner, and make her a witty playful suedo partner/suedo stab you in the back thief during the movie, and she could work quite well. Personality wise, I think Einjar is on the right track. Make her like the Catwoman in the first couple seasons of Batman TAS, and she'd work quite well. Quote
Raptor One Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Names such as Catherine Heigl came to mind BAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!! Ah man, thanks I needed that Quote
frothymug Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 That was one of the names that "came to mind", but we didn't settle on it. It's called brainstorming. Quote
Max Jenius Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Maybe Christian Bale will bring his Batman voice back down to Begins levels this time around. More gadgets and detective work would be a definite plus. TDK was cool, but I still prefer Begins. Bane could be interesting if they did him right & played up on the more intellectual aspects of the character to augment his strength. Too bad Nolan isn't brave enough to make a movie where the Clock King & Calendar Man team up. /sigh. Quote

Besides, I'm sure Nolan would love to do another detective/noir-style film. What, getting a fingerprint from a shattered bullet not detective enough for you? But seriously now, I think TDK at least showed a small measure of Batman's detective side. The irradiated bills. the face-recognition software. the cellphone-wiretapping scheme. and, of course, that crazy bullet-fingerprint method. Although I wouldn't mind a hard-core detective movie starring batman (a batman film in the style of Memento would be awesome), I doubt that Nolan would go that route for the final film in a trilogy of blockbuster movies. It could be done though. He's already got the hot dame who may or may not be on the wrong side of the law (a staple of any noir-style film ). He could have Bats investigating a wave of crimes happening around Gotham and discovering that the Venom drug is somehow involved or related to all of the crimes. He could have Bats and Bane match wits with one another and play a cat-and-mouse game throughout the course of the movie. And then have all that manuevering and scheming culminate in an all-out slugfest between the two to end the movie and the trilogy. Quote

And I agree that the 3rd movie will probably feature a lot of investigations on Batman's part. but I still think the detective/investigation parts would still be a background for the movie, as opposed to it being the main feature.
