HappyPenguins Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 probably the RT movie in disguise again Quote
Snail00 Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 probably the RT movie in disguise again RT movie?? Quote
taksraven Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Looks like it could be a massive advertisment for Angels and Airwaves. Quote
Einherjar Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yup, I felt The Fountain vibe from the trailer. I don't know, ads for that movie fooled me. Looks like it could be a massive advertisment for Angels and Airwaves. Is it going to be a very long music video then? Quote
CoryHolmes Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Well, I can tell what market segment they're aiming for when they include a shot of the actress' ass in the trailer. Quote
Ghost Train Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 The YUNE TRILOGY: ROBOTECH: TEH TREE OF LIFE. Summer 2011.ROBOTECH: LOVE Winter 2011.ROBOTECH: TEH HAROLD AND KUMAR CHRONICLES Summer 2012 (gotta get it in before the 12-21 Mayan Zombie Nibiru Apocalypse) Quote
Gubaba Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Yet another astronauts-on-a-space-station / apocalypse / Civil War re-enactment movie. Ho-hum. Quote
CoryHolmes Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 looks like a moon ripoff. Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of The Fountain and/or Solaris. Quote
taksraven Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Well, I can tell what market segment they're aiming for when they include a shot of the actress' ass in the trailer. It was subtle, wasn't it... Quote
BeyondTheGrave Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of The Fountain and/or Solaris. I really liked Solaris... How was Solaris? I heard The Fountain was kinda of confusing. Quote
Snail00 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 For a thoughtful and artful movie about humans on the edge of survival I found Sunshine amazing! Quote
anime52k8 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Sunshine is awesome because it has Cillian Murphy in it. Quote
eugimon Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 looks good, but I liked solaris and sunshine and Fountain and I'm not horrified by the sight of a nice shapely ass, so what do I know? Quote
CoryHolmes Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 How was Solaris? I heard The Fountain was kinda of confusing. Solaris was great because it was a throw-back to sci-fi's basic premise: using fantastic settings to examine the human condition. That also means it has no pew pew pew and little in the way of "zomg! Pretties!". Basically, watch this movie the way you would 2001 and you should enjoy it just fine. Quote
electric indigo Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 The sequence when Kelvin's ship approaches Solaris is one of my favourite moments from SF cinema. The score is great. Quote
Gui Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 It's a very good movie, yes, but I'd like to give a look to the Tarkovski version from 1972 too... Quote
taksraven Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 It's a very good movie, yes, but I'd like to give a look to the Tarkovski version from 1972 too... Both versions of Solaris are good for different reasons. I have heard the newer one called Solaris-lite and that is a good description. Watch the '72 version first though. Quote
reddsun1 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 looks good, but I liked solaris and sunshine and Fountain and I'm not horrified by the sight of a nice shapely ass, so what do I know? I'm of the same school of thought as Detective Hanna, myself. I don't think anyone could sum up a philosophy any better... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s81gWFanDO0&feature=related Quote

taksraven Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Interestingly, Stanislaw Lem called both movies a failure. Bah. Interesting but not surprising. Its impossible to keep authors happy. Quote
wm cheng Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I loved the visuals, cinematography AND music! I can forgive a lot if the visuals are compelling enough... after all it is a film to be watched, not a book to be read. Quote
