Deadzone Posted January 19, 2004 Posted January 19, 2004 This one goes for TONY!!!MUAAAA HA HA HA I actually liked hearing about how the toy companies came to be. Being the newbie it gave me a better understanding of the toy industry as a whole. And as for my thought bubble, it should read: "I wonder if anybody realizes there is five thousand dollars in this black bag?" Quote
Neova Posted January 19, 2004 Posted January 19, 2004 Recon found Tony´s speech on the first day very interesting... LOL! I joined you guys after Tony's speech but I caught the Movie Edition of it on the last day of tour. It was a very interesting show... er... talk indeed, unlike the long 36 episode version you guys got. Kekeke... BTW: Great pictures Sebastian! Quote
Neova Posted January 19, 2004 Posted January 19, 2004 And as for my thought bubble, it should read:"I wonder if anybody realizes there is five thousand dollars in this black bag?" The only way to shop in Hong Kong! Deadzone, you're a true OG! Quote

So, I suppose the next time I'm in your neck of the woods, you won't have any interest in any updates regarding Macross, right! No problem... that's just more ammo to tease you with. Yes, yes, I know ... "YOU HATE ME!" Quote
xstoys Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 (edited) Hi again all, Sorry it took so long to post. Just moved to a new place & just got a phone installed, & DSL coming next week. I just wanted to share some of the great loot I snagged in HK during the shopathon. Special thanks to Neova & Lazyman for the aid of their awesome bargaining skills in Cantonese. Check out these cool paint ups! Enjoy! xstoys PS. Sebastian .... I know you hate me, now drool! Edited January 23, 2004 by xstoys Quote
xstoys Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 Sorry that last one was kind of PG-13, this one is more PG. Quote
xstoys Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 (edited) Ever seen one of these??? Comes in silver & painted versions. It took 3 trips to this store, & some mad bargaining by Neova & Lazyman to get the store onwer to sell these 2 items to me. Thanks guys! Edited January 23, 2004 by xstoys Quote
xstoys Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 These are solid figures & even licensed! Check out the copyright on the bottoms! These are absolutley not the same figures as the "chase" figure from the recent Macross figure set. Pretty rare find, I think! Quote

The only thing I could say in Cantonese was: "Where is the bathroom?" In terms of bargaining, Neova was a big help. You seemed to do pretty well too with the MPC Primes. BTW: You said you lived close to LA. When are you going to have a get together again? Quote
xstoys Posted January 23, 2004 Posted January 23, 2004 Oops, my bad! I meant to thank "Lazyman" in HK. Sorry Deadzone. So many people... I got confused. Lazyman & Neova ... special thanks to you both! Tony xstoys Quote

Guppy Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 LOL! I would like to set the record straight, that was my 'WANT' list, now what I bought!!! Although what I bought isn't much better than that list as far as sanity goes. I bought.. Badger Airbrush Sparmax Air Compressor MG Gouf custom MG Rick Dom MG Hyakushiki MG Titans 1/144 Hygog Metal Material Sword strike gundam SOC Mazinger Z Renewal SOC Bossborot (cute!!) SOC Getter Dragon SOC Neo Getter (the white one you go) JUMBO GRADE Full Armor Gundam Berserk - Guts figure (really nice toy - heaps of articulation and detail) Bandai Blazer valkyire toy Bandai Cannon Fodder 1/55 ($150 HK!!) Jin-Roh Kaiyodo figure (the smaller size one) AND.... 27 Gashapon toys! - Macross Front Mission 2 set, the Panda Z set (get it! it is SO cute) more macross, berserk, Machin Krieger, etc etc etc! ... not including another set of Sailor moon figures (for the same cousin.. Selling babies on the blackmarket? Kangaroo testicles? Koala ears? What?! So, does he get a special t-shirt? Unfortunately kangaroo balls aren't worth much here! I would have to catch thouands! I spent my entire daily food allowance for the 10 days (ie, per diems) on toys! mwa ha ha.. but the HK$18 (about US$2.50) bowls of noodles in those little shops tasted great! And my special t-shirt should say "FOOL" ..and my wife's t-shirt would read "My husband went to hong kong and all he got me was this lousy t-shirt because he spent our life savings on toys" NEova - nup, don't work for airlines, but because of a massive coincidence I went back to hong kong a month after the shopathon for work - we filmed the disney on Ice show there as well as stuff on hong kong for the kids disney show I work on. well, the word 'work' in this context is up for interpretation. It was a pretty easy one. Quote
Sebastian Posted February 25, 2004 Author Posted February 25, 2004 And my special t-shirt should say "FOOL" Agree a 100% Although what I bought isn't much better than that list as far as sanity goes Agreed again! another set of Sailor moon figures (for the same cousin.. It's true I swear! I hate sailor moon!! ) Yeah... Sure Guppy, we all beleive you... Hooooo Man you are SO LUCKY!!! Quote
Graham Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Guppy & I found the Bandai VF-1A Cannon Fodder reissue for only HK$150 (less than US$20)! Five years ago, who would have thought you would be able to buy a brand new 1/55 for so little. Graham Quote

Five years ago, who would have thought you would be able to buy a brand new 1/55 for so little. Graham I know.. about 4 years ago I bought a yellowed jetfire for customing and thought I got a great deal when I paid $US40. Then I had to buy paints, and a custom head from Chris Baretta and then I had to spend a week customising it into a cannon fodder. And there it was in Kanto Hobby for 20 bucks! Quote
