M'Kyuun Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 That battroid looks sharp...finally proper hip placement and angled crotch to really emphasize the lankiness of the battroid. I like the color scheme and the new leg armor. However, Kawamori's insistence on one-upping the previous models really manifests in this design, i.e the additional engine pods, the lights on the chest plate, and the back guns all seem superflous and unnecessary, and detract from its appeal. It's a very busy design. I'm hoping that Bandai will give us v2 of the VF-25 employing the design changes seen here.
Graham Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Anybody spotted the exact release day in June on any website yet??? I'm guessing it will be around 25th, as that is when Bandai usually releases. But would appreciate exact date if anybody has seen it. Graham
jenius Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I suspect this toy is coming out the day I go on vacation... bummer.

Graham According to a reliable source on TD (they have been correct and precise for months), you would see it in the shop on June 24 in Hong Kong.

Vic Mancini Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I don't know... It looks ungainly in Guardian mode. No...? He used a Robotech reference. Let's get him!
Raptor One Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I grew up on Robotech. I kind of miss saying Guardian mode
Archer Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) lol @ guardian mode references Back on topic, if the yf-29 still functions 2 months down the road, I may consider picking one up. But for now, VF-19 variants it is for me. Edited June 3, 2011 by Archer
ff95gj Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 He used a Robotech reference. Let's get him! Burn! Burn! Burn!

Ignacio Ocamica Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 WTF is a Gurdian? Graham A british newspaper?
Mommar Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I grew up on Robotech. I kind of miss saying Guardian mode I do too. Gerwalk is a stupid term if you ask me.
raptormesh Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 WTF is a Gurdian? Graham Clearly he's referring to a Gordian Knot.
kanedaestes Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I grew up on Robotech. I kind of miss saying Guardian mode Um this is MacrossWorld, while you may miss those words (as secretly some of us do) you never speak of them here. Lol or you shall burn a vicious death in a fire ignited by the flames of burning Toymani craptastic toys....(Except the Beta).
Raptor One Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 ^Point taken. That being said, I have mixed feelings about the YF-29's Guar- I mean Gerwalk mode. But I think the DX pulls it off well
GU-11 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Here's the latest scans from the new July 2011 issue of Dengeki Hobby magazine. Grahm The GERWALK mode look almost as good as a Yamato Valk's...or was it done by "cheating" [unlocking the hips] like the early Bandai VF-25's?
badboy00z Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 How do you pronounce Battroid? Batt Roid? or Bat Troid? Is it an acronym for something like GERWALK?
Funkenstein Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Gerwalk makes sense though , "Ground effect, reverse jointed walker". Isn't that what Gerwalk stands for?
Dobber Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) How do you pronounce Battroid? Batt Roid? or Bat Troid? Is it an acronym for something like GERWALK? Battloid! I kid, I kid! Seriously though, I've seen people use the Robotech terms ALOT and never saw anyone say anything about it before?? Glad we are saying enough is enough! Chris Edited June 3, 2011 by Dobber
s001 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) GERWALK: Ground Effective Reinforcement of Winged Armament with Locomotive Knee-Joint. Edited June 3, 2011 by s001
Magnus Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 All Toynami jokes aside, it DOES have a mighty giant ass in Gerwalk mode. I'm not sure if i'm ready for that jelly.
Thom Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 The original VF-1 had a nice clean ...gerwalk... mode (yuck!) This one, and the 25 and 27 are too butt heavy. A bit like an ostrich... YES, OSTRICH Mode!!
kanedaestes Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) DID YOU JUST "YUCK" THE WORD GERWALK!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Where's my freaking sniper rifle. You shouldn't even be allowed to watch the rest of the stuff, you should be banned to Robotech crap for all eternity, ETERNITY!!!! This is a guardian This is a GERWALK LOL Edited June 3, 2011 by kanedaestes
Graham Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Stay on topic guys, next non YF-29 post gets a spanking. Graham
numagus99 Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Here are some new pics of the wing retraction gimmick and of the turret.
Graham Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Here are some new pics of the wing retraction gimmick and of the turret. Cool, first time to show the turret in use in fighter mode. Really shows how the features of the Tornado Pack were integrated into the YF-29. Graham
Thom Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) If (when?) it comes out in 1/72 I'll probably buy it. It does have a certain sleek quality to it and some nice details and design changes. I'd love to bash it with another of the fighters, the 25 or the 27! Oh, and 'spanking' warning received. I am in shame... Edited June 5, 2011 by Thom
Reïvaj Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Looks like everything fits tightly unlike previous DX releases… Do you know guys whether this is the actual toy or a painted prototype?
KiriK Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 keeps looking better! I'm looking forward to this release
