Mercurial Morpheus
Hot on the heels of Leslie Nielsen's passing, we've lost a great director. I shudder to think how the rule of three will come into play. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20101129/ennew_afp/entertainmentfranceusfilmdirector_20101129123403 To think I watched some of the bad version of ESB last night too on TV. Eerie yet appropriate. To think we'd lose him during the 30th as well. Rest in peace to the best director a boy, a girl and a galaxy ever had. Even Lucas couldn't ruin that film (at least too much). taksraven
A true unsung Star Wars hero. From what I understand he was an "actors director", much more than Lucas is, and the results shone through in ESB, the Star Wars film with THE best characterisations and performances..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdc7v4vkbJI (Possibly the best SW sequence ever, featuring the most misquoted line in SF history, even the title of this youtube clip misquotes it)
eugimon
Sad to hear, ESB is by far my favorite SW film and just one of my favorite movies in general.
Mercurial Morpheus
Sad to hear, ESB is by far my favorite SW film and just one of my favorite movies in general. Mine too. It basically cemented the idea that not all sequels have to suck and turned a surprise hit into a powerhouse franchise.
shiroth
I also loved Robocop 2 as well. R.I.P.
505thAirborne
May the Force be with you Irvin Kershner, R.I.P. Great director and provider of the Best Star Wars film.
Black Valkyrie
Saddly indeed, ESB is my fave movie of all time cuz of the atmosphere of the entire movie and there is no other movie like it, before and after. Strange lately for the past three months I was thinking too much of ESB .

areaseven
Even though Never Say Never Again was non-canon and merely an attempt at pitting Sean Connery against Roger Moore at the box office, Kershner did a great job directing it. R.I.P. Irvin Kershner
EXO
ESB is not only the best SW film but one of the best films ever. The first few minutes alone is better than a lot of films today. I'm also a big fan of Robocop 2, even though everyone hates that movie.
