Zor Primus Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 (edited) First Image Well, it can't be worse then the first attempt. Karl Urban was a good choice imo... "Dredd" is directed by Peter Travis (Vantage Point) from a script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later). It is tentatively set to hit theaters in 2012. Edited November 20, 2010 by Zor Primus Quote
Vile Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Can't say I'm that keen on the look, if this is the look. The background looks 21st century normal to me, not Megacity 1 curvy and futuristic. The uniform is rather understated, although in an odd way reminiscent of the original Judge Dredd art. Really don't like the Lawgiver. Quote
shiroth Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I'm up for this. First film wasn't that good of an adaptation, though it was still a film i rather enjoyed. But yeah gotta agree with Vile, i'm not really liking the look of it. Still it's only one image, and hopefully that opinion will change once there's more material to go by. Quote
VT 1010 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Karl Urban may be Judge Dredd, but is he the "loahh?" Quote
the white drew carey Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I thought I'd never say this about Karl Urban, but his helmet too big. Quote

Mr March Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 If anyone can pull off Dredd, it'll be Karl Urban. And there's really no place to go with another Dredd movie but up. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 cool! achem, "that" movie wasn't too bad. lol Quote
EXO Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I like Karl Urban as an actor but that man is the new Michael Cain... He'll take any role. lol. Pathfinder was awful. But he was great in Star Trek and Red. I think I would have picked Ray Stevenson or at least Vinnie Jones. Vinnie has cheese writen all over him though. lol. In any case I guess I'm not that interested in a new JD movie. The previous Judge Dredd was pretty bad but Stallone looked pretty badass as Dredd. Quote

shiroth Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 but Stallone looked pretty badass as Dredd. I knew you'd say that. Quote
anime52k8 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) As someone who doesn't care about the original comic, or comics in general, f*ck this shit. The Sly Stallone movie is great, we don't need a remake Edited November 21, 2010 by anime52k8 Quote
macrossnake Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I thought I'd never say this about Karl Urban, but his helmet too big. lol I thought I am the only one notice this. Too early to say anything about the movie, but at least I think the director is good. Quote
Vile Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 The previous Judge Dredd was pretty bad but Stallone looked pretty badass as Dredd. With his helmet on, he was a dead ringer. I thought I'd never say this about Karl Urban, but his helmet too big. That, and the small shoulder and elbow pads, reminds me of the original Dredd look. Waitaminnit - is that a moustache?! Someone should tell him he's not in a beauty contest ... Quote

Graham Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 For those who have read the Juddge Child Quest story, we all know how Dredd feels about moustaches. Graham Quote
Uxi Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I would have preferred a continuation sequel of the fist (with or without Stallone). Hate remakes in general, though, and did like the original. Quote
Graham Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I would have preferred a continuation sequel of the fist (with or without Stallone). Hate remakes in general, though, and did like the original. I hated the Versace designed spandex uniform in the first movie. The new uniform does look closer to the original Ezquerra designed concept. At least it looks like black leather, which is what it is supposed to be. This new movie Lawgiver does look reasonably close to the current MK11. Can't wait to see the Lawmaster. Hope it's closer to the comic version than the overgrown Vespa scooter in the Stallone movie. Keith Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Is this really a story that needs to be told? Also, I'll watch if they bring back Rob Schnieder. Quote
shiroth Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Also, I'll watch if they bring back Rob Schnieder. & play the same character again? No thanks. Quote
Graham Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Is this really a story that needs to be told? Also, I'll watch if they bring back Rob Schnieder. Stories (plural). There is 33 years (so far) of mostly excellent source material to draw upon. Graham Quote
Nicaragua Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I agree the helmet is too big but those shots are from pre-production rehearsels so its a good chance they arent the finished uniform. I hope storywise it starts off with something along the lines of Judge Cal, and then does judge child and Necropolis for sequels... assuming the first one isnt a total mess. Quote

AcroRay Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) JUDGE MINTY... Fans can make something that looks like the Dredd we know & love, why can't the big studios? judgeminty.com Edited November 23, 2010 by AcroRay Quote
taksraven Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I so *hope* that they get this film right, but I so *know* that they will get it wrong.... Taksraven Quote
AcroRay Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I'm hoping the shots with Urban was just a stereography test, or a shot blocking test. Honestly, the design of the whole earlier Stallone Dredd film was fine by me. What bugged me were the liberties taken with key characters like Dredd, Fergie and Hershey. Diane Lane is nice and hot & all, but she not Hershey on any day. And no smoochies for Dredd and Hershey. No way. Quote
taksraven Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Its going to be like a remake of a really bad adaptation. A horrible double whammie. Taksraven Quote

AcroRay Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Very telling that a video game has become a mode of comparison here. Videogames have absolutely become as powerful and absorbing a storytelling medium as film or print. Quote
Gaijin Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I had never heard of Judge Dredd until the Stallone film. It was cheesy but I kinda liked it. Quote
Guest sh002 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 diane lane was hot in the other judge dredd movie Quote
Omegablue Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 It's being filmed and made here in South Africa. Wonder if District 9 inspired that. Quote
