NewTypeShop Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 I have never seen Jack Archer's vf-1r in either the Macross series or Robotech. Where did he and the VF-1R come from? Quote
Spiff Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 Jack is from the RT novels and the VF yada yada is from RT, from a animation mistake that HG used to create a new valk out of. Most believe it was supposed to be a vf-1a head but the animators accidentally added VF-1s smaller antenas to the head also. Quote
Skull-1 Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 An animation mistake somewhere around Episode 35. I think it was Robotech's "Broken Heart" episode. It's an "A" with the "A" laser in the center and the "J" lasers on the side. A total screwup, but... Oh, and they call it a "YF-1R" if you can believe that. Stupid... Quote
the white drew carey Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 Welcome to Macrossworld! 1) Asking RT-related questions tend to be frowned upon around here. RT.com would be a much better place to any RT-related questions dealing with mecha or technical aspects of the show, since true fans of RT tend to hover around RT.com. Whereas Macross fans (a few bitter about RT) normally flock around here. 2) With that all said- It's a made up veritech for use in the Robotech: Battlecry video game, although it is based on an animation mistake* seen in Macross and, presumably, in RT: The Macross Saga. *Even thought the fact of whether or not it is actually a mistake is, and has been, debated as well. NewTypeShop Posted November 24, 2003 Author Posted November 24, 2003 So it sounds like an evil step-child .. Quote
Spiff Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 LOL, Not so much evil but defiantly a bastard in the truest sense! Quote
CoryHolmes Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 The Robotech people simply saw a way to use something that most Macross fans turn their nose up at. That "animation mistake" is considered to be just that by the majority of the Macross fanbase. RT decided that no, it wasn't an animation mistake, and have run with it to come up with a brand-new mecha. Personally, I think that's better than trying to use the Recon vessel seen for a second and a half in Force of Arms, which is clearly a precursor to the Elintseeker design of DYRL. If RT had done that, Macross fans would've been up in arms over it, bashing away mindlessly about how unoriginal it all is and how they're only stealing the best parts. So leave the YF-1R to RT canon and an animation mistake in Macross and call it even, eh? Quote
