ATLMYK Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 What are the odds of this baby being filmed and getting a bd release? Quote
isamu Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 There are better odds of the Robotech Live Action movie being premiered in Tokyo first, then to the rest of the world. Quote
Seanzilla Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Why do you say that? They released the Frontier Budokan concert they did in 2008 on bluray. This one will be with all new songs from both girls, and with Macross Frontier still going strong I would think that a bluray release of at least one of those concerts is going to happen. Quote
MIsaHayase Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I too am envious of those that can see this live. *sigh* Quote

You see, thats just it - theres already been a Macross Frontier Budokan Concert bluray. And while I can unofficially, say that there will probably be 2 new songs at the Xmas events, most of the new songs wont be revealed until closer to February - at which point Id be surprised if there wasnt some type of 'Final' concert. So, the Xmas event has 2 things going against it - 1) its in the same venue as the last bluray and b)a lot of the content may be similar. Having said that, the fact that a Macross F bluray exists at all is, as you pointed out, proof of the series popularity and they may well put one out despite the above reasoning. Also, they could possibly film the Kobe one - depends on the venue. Keep in mind that there was never a CD or DVD released of either the 15th anniversary concert, the 25th anniversary concert, OR the Crossover Live. Why? I'd say that the lack good recording infrastructure/setup in the venues these events were held at had something to do with it. My point? Well, its harder that you(d expect to predict! So, the Xmas event has 2 things going against it - 1) its in the same venue as the last bluray and b)a lot of the content may be similar. What I meant by new songs was all of them from the last movie (Universal Bunny, Pink Monsoon, etc), and whatever will be released by the time this concert plays for the 2nd movie. I bet at least one trailer will be out by then featuring a new Ranka or Sheryl song. I'm sure old favorites would show up as well, but there is plenty of new music for them to work with. Plus the 2008 Budokan concert didn't have some of the best background music like The Target, Tally-Ho, or Vajra theme. Songs I would love to hear a full orchestra play. As for the 15th anniversary, 25th anniversary, and the crossover concerts go, I really don't know the circumstances, or sadly who all was involved. But it seems to me that both May'n and Megumi along with Macross Frontier are riding high right now. The concerts are sure to be quick sell outs, and the executives in charge of this all will undoubtably want to capitalize on what could be strong bluray sells for them. But I am also stuck in Texas, so I may not have an accurate view of what is truly going on in Japan. In the end though, I bet they are at least considering a bluray release. Quote
Tochiro Posted September 30, 2010 Author Posted September 30, 2010 Aaaand.... some more news has hit about the upcoming Xmas events! Said details can be found here. As was previously known, the gigs will be at: Dec 22: Nippon Budokan Dec 24: Kobe Port Island Hall Ticket cost: 6800yen Entries for the initial ticket raffle will be open to F-tama fanclub members from Oct 1 to Oct 4. Results will be known on Oct. 6, after which winning fanclub members will have until Oct. 13 to pay for the tickets they are allotted. No details for general public sales as of yet. This is gonna be one hell of a Macross Xmas! Im hoping to do Kobe on the 24th, a Fukuyama gig in Kyoto on the 25th, then catch the overnight bus back to Tokyo on the 26th for an Akino Arai concert! Whew! Deculture indeed! Quote
Tochiro Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Well, draw entries are open to fanclub members and.... only 1 tic per person!!??!?!? This is unheard of, even by Japanese standards. Theres a good chance that they'll fill the entire Budokan with only fanclub tics and no public tics at this rate! Damn...... Quote
Tochiro Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Well, I managed to get a tic for the Kobe show on the 24th :-) No luck with Tokyo although I may be able to get a tic closer to the date. At the moment though, the Macross Christmas Plan is going ahead! Dec. 24: Macross F Super Live Dec. 25: Fukuyama Concert Dec. 26: Akino Arai concert Hell YESS! :-D Quote

Am thinking of hitting it up too ^^; Then March has Mayn at the Budokan again as well as another Maaya gig. Not to mention next month which has Animax Music (Origa!) and an Uematsu Final Fantasy performance. phew. BTW - went to a Maaya Sakamoto cover band gig last night. I think I was the only foreign barbarian they had ever seen. Long story short, I ended up being interviewed on camera lol. Quote

In the meantime, My Kobe plans continue to get more awesome by the day lol. On the downside, an emergency work trip means Ill miss Animax Musix this Wed (Origna and Mayn), sigh. Quote
Tochiro Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Alright, time to revive this thread! The Tokyo concert is today so if anyone on this board attends, please post your impressions here. I'm hoping to get some minor impressions up tomorrow before jumping on the bus for Kobe, but the full account of what I'm calling 'Macrossmas 2010' wont be done until after the Akino Arai gig on the 26th. As for today - I was getting tweets at 8:30am about people already being in line for merch. Me, I dont intend to get there until 2-2:30 or so. And yes, I did eventually manage to get a tic - it was a long saga including pissing off some scalpers and friends from a fanclub, but the end result was tics for both performances :-) Let the madness begin! Oh, and for anyone who is interested, apart from concert merch, they will also be selling tics for the movie in February. 1300yen and comes with a free poster. Quote
josue Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I'll be there around 6pm. No merch for me... Quote
