sketchley Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Revised and expanded! Variable Fighter Master File VF-19 Excalibur: The Traces Of The Sacred Sword: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTvfmf/OTvfmf.php - beyond a bunch of minor changes, the reorganization of some blocks of text to make them more comprehensible, and a couple of passages that were retranslated, there is a bunch more previously untranslated content (pilot suits, block numbers, and squadron markings), among other changes from the previous release. Enjoy! Quote
sketchley Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Revised: Macross Chronicle #50: Errata: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/MCother.php - no major changes, but a bunch of reformatting and some translation clarification. Now to see if I have to make any changes to existing translations... Quote
sketchley Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Revised and thoroughly expanded (but by no-means complete): Macross Chronicle Series Guide: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/MCother.php - it wasn't my intent to do so much (just paste up the existing text in html), but the MC is like a comfortable old glove, and once started, I found myself trucking along. Hopefully it'll prove informative or insightful to someone (mind you, I did find the intent of the original publisher at the start of the series interesting, especially from a POV after the revised edition has been published). sketchley Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 Revised and mucho expanded! Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie: Wings Of The Stratosphere: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTvfmf/OTvfmf.php - this book... there's just so much in it that looks interesting, and by and large, the majority of it is. Alas, I ran out of steam before getting around to doing the VF-1A/J/S variants. But on the other hand, I believe I've polished off all the bits n the F-14 (and variants), and I'm fairly certain that many of you will find such things as the wing armament charts in, well, chart form, valuable. Aside from doing the F-14 and up to the subtitles of all the VF-1 paint schemes (the main goals), I've gone and done things like the VF-1's parameters (nothing new), the block number chart (quite interesting for something that ought to be banal) and fuselage minor changes, the pilot suits, the RAM/SCRAM Jet modes, Streak Valkyrie's Challenge chart, the CVS-101 data and chart captions, carrier-borne aircraft, and the Fleet Deployment Chart. This book is literally endless in interesting things! Quote
sketchley Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) Complete: Great Mechanics 8: Macross Zero: VF-0 & SV-51; Behind The Scenes Of The Setting For "Zero": http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTgreatmechanics.php - and here I was thinking of a simple "proofread and slap into php"! It turned into another marathon, as interesting things kept catching my eye >.< So, on top of some of the first commentary and stats on the SV-51 and VF-0D that were released, it's also got an extremely interesting interview/conversation with Kawamori-san and Chiba-san; which ranges from their relationship, how Macross stats are created, Kawamori's opinion on "canon" and the stats themselves, and plenty of wonderful ideas they had that just didn't make it into the finished series (and a few of those are extremely interesting, thought provoking additions). Some of their decisions were quite surprising, and their comments on viewers and how the shows treat them is enlightening, perhaps more so about the terms they book it in. For me, the spot where they talk about the scene where Shin fires two missiles at the enemy fighter is the highlight of the interview/conversation - highlighting not only how much thought and detail they put into it, but also how much respect that blink-and-you-miss it sequence holds for the viewer! sketchley Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Pash! Animation File 02: Macross Frontier: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTmiscmagazines.php Somehow my "quick" project of slapping the existing translation into php ended up being a 2 week marathon of translating! I always intended to do the section on Gaul 4 and the Vajra Homeworld, but I also ended up doing the sections on the facilities/locations inside the Frontier Fleet (how many other sources have gone into detail about that?). I also found it neat that they wrote it from the angle of a sales brochure come travel magazine. A refreshing break from the usual way such information is presented, eh? Quote
sketchley Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Updated: SDFM DYRL PS1 Game Mail-in Gift: Minmei's Last Message: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTother.php - no major changes. Hopefully the polishing I did will make it all that more comprehensible. Macross Frontier Archives: 3D & Setting Document Collection: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTmiscbooks.php#MF - did quite a bit more polishing on this one. Although the hand drawn lineart for the VF-25 in this book is awesome-sauce, it sucks that there aren't any helpful notes to indicate what a bunch of the details are. >.< Quote
sketchley Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Revised: Newtype Ace Feb. 2012 Special Appendix 1: Macross F The Movie - My Best Memory: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTmiscmagazines.php - mostly unchanged (formatting aside). But one MAJOR translation error has been fixed. Namely: "The respective futures of Sheryl & Ranka, and Aruto, who flew off" fixed to the correct: "The respective futures that Sheryl, Ranka, and Aruto chose." Quote
sketchley Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Revised: Model Graphix #299: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/OTmiscmagazines.php - majorly reworked the descriptions gleaned from the picts. The stuff on the YF-25 Prophecy (the only parts of the magazine that matter to the wider Macross universe) have been significantly upgraded (read: more readable, IMHO). My translation pace is starting to drop off these days... on the other hand, I'm publishing a piece of art every day! Check out my DA page for some Macross-like art. Quote
sketchley Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 ... and back from arting to a bit of translations/htmling: Glossary/Disambiguation: http://www.mtranslation.host-ed.me/Glossary.php - with this coming up a couple of times in the past week or two, I made the time to flesh it out a bit more. Hopefully with this edit, I've got the majority of the major terms, and the disambiguation parts will help people outside of figuring out what my translations are talking about! Anyhow, back to arting... Quote
sketchley Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) ... and we're back, on a new host. sketchley Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Alright, finally worked may way through a major hurdle in my stats website, and it's high time I got back to making fresh translations (the 'updating' past translations project is still firmly on the back burner. sketchley Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) And... the first few pages are up. I'm curious to know where the VF-19 Master file translations went, as I'd like to know what's contained in the book I just bought... /edit/ nevermind I just found all of it... Don't mind me I"m just dumb, asking questions before clicking links... /edit/edit/ What book has information on the Caliburn? Edited July 31, 2015 by Valkyrie Driver Quote

Seto Kaiba Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 What happened to the site? Looks like the web host suspended the account again... I wonder if it's just that time of year, or if it's a bandwidth overrun. If sketchley needs or wants somewhere to host his site in the meantime, it'll be our pleasure to make space on M3's servers for him. Quote

If sketchley needs or wants somewhere to host his site in the meantime, it'll be our pleasure to make space on M3's servers for him. It's worse than that - lack of usage [that's an educated guess at best, as I've been trying to sort it out for the past few days, and, well, free hosting. You get what you paid for, especially when it comes to host responsiveness]. ANYWHO, new host, same site content: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/ Please update your favourites. And I'm making a personal commitment to change my free time habits and invest a bit more time into transferring the backlog of html files into php on the site - up until now, when I've been doing that, the site has exceeded the host's lower traffic limits. Nevertheless, fingers crossed with this new host! Edited August 23, 2015 by sketchley Quote
sketchley Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Some movement on the translation front this week:SDF-1 Macross: A Thorough AnalysisThis has been sitting on the back burner for ages now (T.T). Nevertheless, it's now up to date with all that I've translated for it...http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTmiscbooks.phpModel Graphix #215 What is the VE-1AEW Alvitr? sketchley Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Great Mechanics 10: Macross Zero Feature http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTgreatMechanics/GM10.php Most of it is newly translated. Kinda neat visiting its snapshot of the state of Macross more than a decade ago. Quote
sketchley Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) About a week ago, I wanted to post the link to the Macross Timeline that I've cobbled together over the years in a conversation somewhere on MW and... out of the hundreds of pages my current host is making available, it is one of the few that doesn't get displayed. Well, after ripping the timeline apart into separate pages, and extensive debugging, I've found the reason why. The current host does not like the word "proxy" (used in describing the purpose of the Zentraadi). Talk about wisdom-tooth-getting-pulled level of GAH! So... here's the working linky to the Timeline: http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/Sourcebook/Timeline2009.php The positive side of this is that the Timeline is getting a well-deserved polishing up and refinement. And the smaller portion sizes (of HTML) should make it much easier to plop down events as they start to spew forth from Macross Delta. Gah! Edited January 17, 2016 by sketchley Quote
sketchley Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Ah, yes. Remembered why I wanted to post the timeline linky in the first place (apros for the double post): New Era 0001 - Macross's answer to Gundam's UC; and something that was promptly forgotten by the creative people behind Macross. http://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/Stats/Statistics/Sourcebook/Timeline2012.php#Megaroad Quote
sketchley Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 This one has been sitting on the back burner for more than a year gathering dust. I had translated a bunch of more content before it was put back there and forgotten - and there's still a bunch more to do on it. Nevertheless, best to get what's been done out, then wait another couple of years for the rest to get finished, eh? Einherjar Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Hey sketchley, I was looking through the timeline on your page, the After the Varja War part, and I wanted to double check the origin for entries written in black are. In particular, the ones about the experiments for time and extra dimensional travel. Unless the subs are not accurate, something got mentioned in the recent Delta episode. Quote

Extended Universe (= semi-cannon) information is in steelblue. Quote

sketchley Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 Macross F 2059: Memorieshttp://monkeybacon.mywebcommunity.org/OTmiscbooks.php#MF Went back and re-translated some rather atrocious parts, and then went and did a whole bunch of new parts in the book! I was really surprised about a couple of things: The first being that the book questions if the Vajra are individual organisms or what amounts to remotely operated weapons. Interesting. The second were the 'Link Points' - little vignettes about the connections between Macross F and previous series. Most interesting was the one about Super Pack equipped Kuran. And here I thought that it was merely ridiculously over the top fan service! Quote
