Mr March Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Found out yesterday that Wave is producing a line of Five Star Stories action figures. The first one is the SR4 Last Junchoon ODK. While it's uncertain what other figures from FSS are planned, Wave mentions that this Junchoon is the first in a new line of figures. Hobby Wave Next Stage Project Gotta say I'm stoked for this one. I am lamenting the inevitable overpriced final product, by I can't recall anyone prior producing action figures of the Five Star Stories. So I'll make at least one exception and hope they eventually release the Knight of Gold. I'll attach a picture of the colored line art below. Quote
Maiden Japan Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Kaiyodo released FSS action figures several years ago. Their series were not successful due to over price and not-so-good quality. Quote
the white drew carey Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 Hmmm... if the price is right, I might just have to ignore the wife and buy one. I absolutely adore the FSS mecha designs! Quote
charger69 Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 KOG is sure good but come on... All we need is a Jagd Mirage!! Quote
Mr March Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Maiden Japan Ah thank you. I wasn't aware of those figures. They might have been off the radar, like most things FSS The quality probably would have turned me off anyway. I prefer really good fine detail, at least considering the price point of the product in question. the white drew carey Well, since FSS is the closest mecha design has ever come to high art, perhaps you could sell her on the figure as an "investment" As for the price, we're gonna get gouged on this one. It's a Wave product, which means it'll be horribly overpriced. But for FSS, I'll take the plunge. charger69 Do I dare to dream? Quote
electric indigo Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Beware that the figure will not only be super-expensive, but also super-small. This is my 1/144 Kaiyodo Engage, and the Wave figure will be even smaller. Quote

lechuck Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Agree. Non-scale and smaller than 1/144 is pretty much fail in my book too. It's a pity there is no MG counterpart out there for this franchise. Quote
yellowlightman Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Considering that the best word to describe FSS mecha designs would be "complex," I'm not sure why it's any surprise that most products are tiny and/or expensive. Easy-to-produce FSS designs would look like, uh... L-Gaim? Quote
electric indigo Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 It's a pity there is no MG counterpart out there for this franchise. Take a look at Volks' line of IP Mortar Headd kits: http://www.volks.co.jp/jp/fss/ims_vsiren/index.html Quote
Mr March Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Unless some have a preference for large scale figures, I'm not sure what the issue is here. It describes the figure as 13cm, which will make it as large as the big Revoltechs like the Macross Reguld and the Evangelions. Plus it already appears to have detail that surpasses some Master Grades. Apart from the price (which is a legitimate concern, since we know it's going to be unreasonable coming from Wave), I can't really see a problem. Quote
AcroRay Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) Oh, that sucks. A scale that tiny reminds me more of the small metal kits of the FSS mecha back in the 80s than it does an actual 'action figure'. FSS: Never a property to cater to the unwashed masses, eh?
