GU-11 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 HLJ's having a sale again, and I've set my sights on the newly restocked VF-1D. The thing is, I've heard that there are cases of exploding shoulders on the -ID. Understandably, I'm pretty hesitant to buy it. But since this is new stock, is there any chance that Yamato might have replaced the knurled pins on the new -1D's? It'd be killer if I could have a -1D waiting for the TV -1S Roy. Quote
hutch Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I love mine. Great toy and nice in that it's a different configuration so you don't feel like it's quite the same as buying 'another VF-1'. Also, I figured we had all been waiting for one for so long it was worth it. Quote
Roy Focker Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 The VF-1D was my first V2 1/60 I bought. I too heard of the shoulder breaks and at the time no one had reported broken shoulders at the time. Word was even the old pins were use the factory workers were told to take extra care putting it together. Of course they could have just slammed it together. You can loosen the shoulder screws to take of some off the pessure. I had no problems with mine. Had it for a year. I like this Valk. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Go ahead and get it!!! Bought the VF-1D when it first hit the streets (more than a year ago, I think it was January 2009). It's awesome valk, no single flaw, the shoulders don't have a single crack. Edited June 11, 2010 by Ignacio Ocamica Quote
Froy Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 (edited) Just ordered mine from HLJ a few minutes ago. I thought they will have it in stock agian untill late june. I have being waiting for this guy for long time because I wanted the VF-1J gbp to be my first V.2 Edited June 11, 2010 by Froy Quote
miriya Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 The VF-1D is a must! It is the first v.2 1/60 that I got too and I wish I had three of them. The little Hikaru and Minmei are so cute too. Great sculpt, clean lines, tight, pose-ability, just fantastic. Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 It's the only VF-1D in the orange color scheme with Hikaru and Minmay that is perfect variable. I say it's worth it even at full price. Quote

thankheaven Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 The orange VF-1D has knurled pins, atleast both of mine has. The Virgin Road version has smooth pins though. Quote
GU-11 Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 Thanks for all the info, guys! The fact that it has knurled pins kind of unnerves me (although they seem pretty okay, judging from your replies), but the VF-1D is just too much of a must-have Valk...that I decided to just buy it, anyway! I guess I'll just have to take care with movement around the shoulders and loosen the hinge screws a bit. Heheh, can't wait for Roy's TV Valk for a classic diorama! Thanks again! Quote
bluemax151 Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 The colours are a lot nicer than the version 1 for sure. Quote
wintermute Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 That's funny, I was looking at the sale at HLJ and wondering the same thing. I ordered it after reading this thread. The VF-1d was the Valk that got me into all of this stuff. Quote
Octane Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 The colours are a lot nicer than the version 1 for sure. I'd agree if you have "light n sweet" VF-1's as opposed to "mochachino's. How is the Virgin Road VF-1D? Quote
CF18 Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Virgin Road VF-1D 35% off at HobbySearch, which also have a 50% off shipping if pay by Paypal. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10094540 Quote
VF-18S Hornet Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Had mine for quite awhile looking at it now makes me glad I passed up the version 1. The V2 VF-1D rocks. Quote
