F-ZeroOne Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Glad you've had some success finding what you're after; I'm not a collector myself but I love reading about it (having grown up with videogames from the early 8-bit era) and did have a Dreamcast myself; "Skies of Arcadia" remains one of my all-time favourite games. I also used to have "Samba de Amigo" for it complete with the maracas, if I still had it I could probably launch my own spaceflight company now if I sold it at current prices... 😅 Quote

I know it's supposed to be a stupid expensive game on the Saturn......unless you want Japanese. Funny....if it's a Japanese saturn game, super cheap. American released Saturn game.....get a bank loan. Still have it the NA version, I am wondering if Super Station One can play Saturn Roms. Quote

davidwhangchoi Posted January 30 Posted January 30 [News] Compile Heart finally officially announces new STG "Zalesta", with M2 and D4 Enterprises involved. According to an interview with Famitsu.com , the game is inspired by the old Compile shoot-'em-up games "Zanac" and "Aleste." The teaser site states that "Aleste" is a registered trademark of M2 and "Zanac" is a registered trademark of D4 Enterprises, but it is likely that these notations are made because the game is influenced by both games. Graham Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I've recently been re-playing a lot of Macross Ultimate Frontier (PSP - emulated on Android), Macross Triangle Frontier (PSP - emulated on Android), Macross Delta Scramble (PS Vita), Macross Last Frontier (PS3) and Macross: Do You Remember Love (PS1 - emulated on Android). Do they count as retro games? 😅 I need to get a PS2 again, so I can re-play VF-X2 and Mac Plus Game Edition. My PS3 is a slim model, so I think it won't play the PS2 discs and my old PS2 died years ago. 😓 Quote
mikeszekely Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) I guess good news for console gamers who collect those physical releases, but as a PC gamer I can't remember the last time I didn't just buy a digital game on Steam (my plan for Lunar). Edited February 11 by mikeszekely Quote
Hikuro Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Weird it's on Xbox One and PS4........consoles that've been replaced what, nearly 5 years now? Rather get it on the switch anyways, it hasn't been replaced yet lol Quote

But I guess, since the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2 are all backward compatible and the Lunar games aren't exactly pushing the hardware it makes sense to make them for the older consoles and maximize your audience. F-ZeroOne Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) I had the rare privilege of playing the original in an actual arcade back in the day, and now its returning in the very good hands of some bloke in some obviously made up fantasy land called Wales: Edited February 12 by F-ZeroOne Quote

F-ZeroOne Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) Its a devil of a job getting the seawater out of the keyboards... 😅 It always intrigues me just how certain machines wound up in the places they did. I mean, one of the more limited 80s arcade releases somehow wound up in a Butlins [1] in South West England. How does that happen? [2] [1] I don't know if the US ever really had an equivalent to "holiday camps", of which "Butlins" is probably the most well known - think a World War II prisoner of war camp but with fairground rides that you paid to stay in. In fact, I think some of the early ones actually used to be military camps... [2] Well, one explanation is that Atari for a while had a production line in the Republic of Ireland, but I find it hard to believe that "I, Robot" was a priority run for them... Edited February 13 by F-ZeroOne Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I think I have to add note here that as much as I've made fun of British holiday camps in my previous post, the arcades they had allowed me to encounter a lot of machines I probably never would have otherwise - from electromechanical games, to very early arcade machines to "the ones that got away", like Ataris "Firefox" - I know its not a great game, but every time I saw it it was broken (not unusual I understand) and I never got the chance to actually find out for myself. F-ZeroOne Posted Wednesday at 06:26 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:26 PM Not sure how the MSX did in the US (I'm guessing not well); here in the UK it was one of the "following the pack" systems behind the Spectrum, Commodore 64, BBC, and Amstrad CPC. My uncle had one though I only ever saw it once. I always liked the look of the many varieties of the hardware configuration you could get. Quote
Hikuro Posted Wednesday at 11:39 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:39 PM K I gotta ask, how many of you guys have bought off Mercari? I was looking to add more to my Retro console collection, typed in a few just for giggles to see what they come up with cause ebay is charging an arm and a leg for a few I have interest on......and the prices are super duper lower, in some cases 50-60% difference in price. Course I'm reading the descriptions to be very careful I'm not gonna end up with a picture of a Neo-Geo CD or something along those lines. BUt how was the experience? did you get what you bought and all that jazz? Quote

Despite Microsoft's involvement, AFAIK there were really only two sold in the US, a Spectravideo model and a Yamaha one. The Spectravideo flopped hard, and the Yamaha wasn't even marketed as a computer, it was marketed as a MIDI synth. Quote

It’s kinda like eBay light. I think experiences will vary depending on the individual sellers Quote
