Keith Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Good episode, but awesome ending. Hopefully we'll get some more awesome all the way through episodes though. Quote
Solscud007 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Picked up Classics Liono. A bit pricey at $20 and the sword is really floppy. Quote
Einherjar Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Wow, I haven't watch this week's episode yet, but looking ahead with my cable subscriber for information (Comcast) on it gave me a really strange rating. Alongside "V = Moderate Violence," there was "S = Some sexual situations." Granted I've been out of the loop for Cartoon Network shows and Clone Wars is showing before that, but is that unusual for shows not appearing on Adult Swim or Toonami these days? Quote
eriku Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) The "S" rating is because they know Cheetara will give little boys some confusing ideas just like she did in the 80's. Tonight's episode was great. I even had a slew of new figures to mess with while I was watching it. Everyone should own Lizard Cannon with Lizard. Edited August 20, 2011 by eriku Quote
Einherjar Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Good episode, bad false advertising. Damn tease! Quote
JELEINEN Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Wow, they were a lot more open regarding people dying in this episode. I'm also curious on how Panthro lost his tail. Was it cut off because of his change in military/social rank? Quote
EXO Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Good solid episode. I remember Driller from the original. I think he came in a space ship with 2 other weirdos. When are they gonna get to Safari Joe? "Safari Joe does it again!" Panthro vs. Grune! Liono vs. Driller!!! Awesome! Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Superb eppy. Lion-O's still a bit headstrong, but it definitely paid off in the end. Hopefully we'll see more character development for the kids pretty soon. Quote
areaseven Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 You know, I've completely underestimated this new version. I'm not gonna say it's better than the original, but unlike other recent remakes/reboots/sequels, this new ThunderCats series holds its own. Quote
RedWolf Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 So where did Pantro get the Thundertank? Looks like he found himself lost tech. Likely those myths regarding "Technology" say their vehicles run on fuel. Quote
areaseven Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I'm hoping the badass Ro-Bear Berbils make an appearance later on in the series. Quote
m0n5t3r Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 now that was a great episode! loved it from start to finish. Panthro's size and demeanor really put Lion-O's youth and immaturity in perspective (for me). He looks so small and inexperienced next to Panthro esp. when Panthro disposed of the other hundred or so lizards that Lion-O didn't anticipate. I also liked the flashback about how Grune turned to the dark side.. even the music when they we're fighting and Panthro fell felt a li'l like Star Wars ... and that last bit of banter between Lion-O and Panthro was a nice touch. 1st Border Red Devil Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Okay, anyone think maybe the Cats and Lizards are Humera of some type? Maybe once Third Earth (Europa?) became terraformed, Humera were introduced, each type being suited to specific tasks/environments. Sort of like Blue Planet.... Quote
Dobber Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Really loving this show so far. Interesting how 1 half hour episode of Thundercats portrayed Anakin Skywalkers fall to the dark side better than 3 feature films of star wars did! Lol Chris Quote
azrael Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 You know, I've completely underestimated this new version. I'm not gonna say it's better than the original, but unlike other recent remakes/reboots/sequels, this new ThunderCats series holds its own. See, it's not a bad reboot. In fact, it's pretty good. Loved Panthro's "Get your own car, kid."-moment. Quote
Einherjar Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 So what the heck is a semoflange anyway? Quote
m0n5t3r Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 So what the heck is a semoflange anyway? after realizing what "that" is made this ep even more of a classic imo Quote
Hikuro Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Loved lastnight! Love the lil joke at the beginning too. Quote
Keith Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I'll say it, this show is better than the original. It's like Beast Wars times 10. Quote
Golden Arms Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Great episode. I picked up the 6in. Lion O and Pantro. I really loved Grune's turn to the darkside. I wonder if there will be a backstory on Lynx-O. Quote
Omegablue Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Loving the show. Especially Episode 4 and 5 were it feels the production team have built more confidence in themselves. For the figures, I'm just waiting for the Classic Cheetarah and 6inch of her of this new series... I wonder if the blue Thundercat, Bengal will appear in this show? Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Color me disappointed to far. I don't think the show is particularly well written or directed. At least the animation and art are solid. Quote
EXO Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 Awesome show. I can't believe they got to the book already. I thought they were gonna drag it out. Goes to show that the writers are not afraid to move forward... Now if they can only read it. And what's up with the history between Mummra and the Thundercats? Quote
RedWolf Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I think it is interesting to note that while Mum-Ra says the Thundercats stole the Eye of Thundera from him they stole it from somebody else. The Lunataks? We saw two periods here. The space age and the age of magic. The planet being attacked makes one think of Mars but that moon isn't Phobos or Deimos. So future Earth? The Book of Omens likely has the spell to remove the protection from the Eye which at one point was called a War Stone. Also the Eye may not be unique if we go by the toys and future titles. Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 This show has a real problem with contradictions. It was (and continues to be) a problem with Panthro's relationship with the others, and in this episode we're told the only people who knew the location of the Tower were sealed within it. Oh, except for Jaga, somehow he knows. I understand this is written for kids, but come on... Quote
Keith Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Duke, "magic." : As for the episode in general, definately some nice backstory, At this point, I'm starting to wonder if Mum-Rah created all of the animal races as h is personal army who eventualy rebelled on him. It's interesting that we don't yet see who they're fighting, perhaps humans? Hmm. Also, the Thundertank bares a striking resemblance to Mum-Rah's ride, perhaps Panthro stole it after he fell down that pit & remodeled it? Quote
EXO Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 I like the fact that "sight beyond sight" isn't just automatic for Lion-O. It was just so easy for him in the original cartoon. Quote
Einherjar Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I like the fact that "sight beyond sight" isn't just automatic for Lion-O. It was just so easy for him in the original cartoon. And then just after that the show definitely deserved that "S" rating from last week. Seriously, someone needs to get a room. Quote
Duke Togo Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Duke, "magic." Magic doesn't explain why Lion-O and Tigra barely know Panthro, and why Panthro acts very indifferently toward them. They've shown us the flashback scene where Lion-O and Tigra are dueling (they look to be around 12 years old) and Panthro is standing RIGHT THERE; clearly they both grew up around him. Quote
Frogze Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Magic doesn't explain why Lion-O and Tigra barely know Panthro, and why Panthro acts very indifferently toward them. They've shown us the flashback scene where Lion-O and Tigra are dueling (they look to be around 12 years old) and Panthro is standing RIGHT THERE; clearly they both grew up around him. I don't think their relationship is inconsistent, it doesn't mean they should know Panthro very well because they fight before him and their father especially since he spent most of his time on the battlefield or searching for the book of omens Good episode, I liked this one more than episode 5 which I found a bit too obvious. However I hope the story keeps improving, so far I like the show overall even if I'm not too fond of the systematic villains' easily defeated at the end. A cliffhanger ending would make it so much more addictive Quote
azrael Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 It was a good episode, but not the best so far. I would like to see a little more backstory on rest of the cast before we spend some time on the main story though. If you're gonna say the place has a bunch of traps, ya might wanna make the characters understand that cuz they kept walking into those traps. Quote
Scream Man Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 ive been liking the show, but ep6 was a bit of a letdown. The fighting wasnt that great, u had the standard "Each of us gets through the traps' kind of team stuff... It wasnt TERRIBLE, and there were moments I liked OK, but it wasn't the best episode. Quote
RedWolf Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Technology how does it work? Yes the Book of Omens is a pad. Count on /m/ to notice these things. Quote
JELEINEN Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 "I was trying to get my sword to work."? Way to be subtle there, Liono. Quote
EXO Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 The one eyed sword he meant... errrr... Nm. Quote
