Raiden Neko? Or Uchuu Seimeitai Sanda-Katsu? Interesting, but the kittens, Lion-O and Cheetara look a little too old--especially that first pic of Lion-O.

Maybe if they rewrote the myth and made it so that the Thundercats were an ancient race of gods in Japan...neko-gami? That might actually work.

Eurgh - those designs are terrible. Snarf and Yaga are the only passable ones. Bit of a stretch to call it 'Awesome' fanart.

The artist needs to learn some basic anatomy and perspective, but hey thats just my opinion.

At least he can draw feet, so Rob Liefield should take lessons from that guy.

No disrespect but those designs are gross. The re-boot series had them looking so cute along with that porn-star/cosplay hot Cheetara; it's going to be hard to beat that generation...

I think the competition from YJ and Legend of Korra made TCats a distant 3rd. That plus the writing hurt the show. some episodes were great others felt like villain of the week such as Ramlak Rising.

BTW Terry, love the Fatal Fury MP Quote. thought I was the only fan.

New Thundercats were even better; sadly that show didn't have a proper continuation...

I really hoped the the new series was gonna at least have a great finish. I had real hopes for that show to bring action back to the kids of a new generation here in the U.S.

Same here. My wife and I were fans of the show, and were anticipating the next season, and then it was canceled. One of the show's creators blamed Cartoon Network's preference for LEGO Chima, which wasn't very good IMHO. Poor toy sales also played a part, I believe. CT killed Symbionic Titan for lack of toy sales, but the show was great. I don't understand why a good show can't stand on it's own merits if it's getting good ratings, regardless of merchandising tie-ins? Anyway, I wish they'd continued the story in graphic novel form the way the Avatar guys have been doing; at least we could have seen how the overarching story would have played out.

Great, when's the live action movie coming? ( you know it's coming :p)

Only thing that stupid Cats movie did was demonstrate what a Thundercat can look like.

Cheetara.

Well the Cats movie definitely shows up some of the uncanny valley issues with trying to make the cats too feline in they look.  For me the biggest issue is in how the ears are rendered at so large and nakedly top of the human head. It's just alien.

The Cats musical look is more appealing and keeps the ears sort of ambiguous and a part of the hairdo.

Really, when I think of the look from the animation and what that should look like on screen in a live action movie, it's more or less this:

Which is to say not very cat-like at all.  Rather, more like really well done-cosplay.

Everytime I see either fan concepts or possibly studio concepts for Thundercats they end up going way overboard bring out the cat/lion look and the overall effect is that the character either looks like Simba from Lion King or some sort of werewolf.

Thundercats is a strange property when you look back at it.  Like He-Man is features a technologically advanced society with FTL spacecraft, or at least ones with effective stasis booths, and yet the weapons of choice are largely medieval in nature.  I mean Panthro drives a freaking tank, but uses nunchucks.  I get that this is a world that also has magic, or sufficiently advanced tech, and I still think it is a cool property, but man, does that still leave me scratching my head.

Checkout the 2011 reboot of Thundercats if you haven't already. It applies some cohesion to those contradictions.

Very well done animation with a continuing, episodic plot.  A real shame that it got killed off.

I heard that but missed it when it was on air.

It’s the same sort of issue I have with Wakanda. All that tech like space ships and beam weapons and tanks and whatever else you could imagine. But they still choose to fight riding animals and throwing spears. I guess you have to sometimes ignore logic and just check your brain at the door and have fun. There are many other examples of this to varying degrees all over sci-fi

1st reaction is, it looks great. 2nd reaction is, are the muscles anatomically correct? Then I realize they aren't real humans just in human shape

Don't even get me started on the issues with Wakanda, or how a squadron of A-10s would have turned the Battle of Wakanda, and even the Endgame battle.
