Does anybody have ever use the Levitron

Hello everybody,

I've found this video from youtube. It's make me very interesting

I thinks it's name is Levitron or flying globe. It's use the power of magnetic field to levitrate subject but I not sure it's easy to set the point of magnet in the model. Anyway I will try to find it for my really flying valk.

just got one from an HK seller. unfortunately, it's unlike the one produced by levitron where the globe can be split open so you can get the floating disc inside and use it on something else. the one i got has the globe sealed shut so looks like i'll have to wreck it. but before i do that, does anyone know a possible replacement for the floating element?

I've talk to Ako who has create this video, He told me he's used other small magnet attached to his model and didn't used any piece which is in the globe.

Do you have to plug this in or use a battery to make this work? It sounds like the magnetic field is probably generated with current running through a solenoid or something. It does look really cool! However, I don't feel like expending electricity for permanent display of models, it'd be cool for some photography or maybe a competition / meet.

yup, you need to plug it in. it uses both permanent and electric magnets. but i think the permanent magnets are just there to keep the globe from rolling when the power is off. to float anything, you need to turn on. it is mesmerizing to look at, but after 15mins i switch it off. i guess i have attention deficit disorder
