Chaser 1 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I finally started my 1/48 YF-19 kit two days ago. Some sub assemblies.. Lots of filler, the fitting is bad as Hase's 1/48 old mold Tomcat kits. I will finish it as a low visibility SVF-184 bird. So I took VF-84's low-viz scheme as basis and draw all the markings as vectors except the nose art. As decal film I used BareMetal's laser decal paper. For the cockpit section, I'll use my own decals.. Quote
big F Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I supose the only saving grace is the thing is bigger than the 1/72 so the defects are easier to see Quote
Chaser 1 Posted May 9, 2010 Author Posted May 9, 2010 (edited) Closed the fuselage and filling few spots. With Gunze Sangyo's H306 and H308, I airbrushed some air superiority scheme. Few touch ups on the way... Edited May 9, 2010 by Chaser 1 Quote
Chaser 1 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 I modified the pattern with more dark grey then airbrushed antiglare etc with tire black. After painting wing tips etc to white (like Tomcats of Vf-103) I covered all the surfaces with Tamiya X-22 and applied squadron decals. I'll continue with stencils tomorrow I hope. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 The scheme you chose is looking really awesome!!! Quote
cool8or Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) This was fast... How can people build so fast!!? And it looks great! I'm envious. Edited May 12, 2010 by cool8or Quote
Chaser 1 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Few shots before weathering... And I have a question:) As you know, tail section of this plane is actually left arm's shield and equipped with pin point barrier system. This gave me idea to mask few roundel in this area and airbrush some blast effects. But after removing masks these marks will be meaningless for lot of people and I don't want to explain this system countless time. Shall I take this risk? Quote

As to the blast effects - would *you* enjoy seeing them? *You* are the most important person to consider in a case like this. Plus, you could always label the base if you get tired of explaining! Question:Would you sell copies of your decal sheet? I could really use those NUNS markings! Quote
raptormesh Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 That's amazing! Really wish Yamato would release an upgraded 1/60 in that scheme I'd be on that like white on rice. Quote
Chaser 1 Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 ...and the finished model.. MaxType, selling, no; sharing, here, any laser printer will do the job:) Quote
cool8or Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I like it. Color scheme simple but original. Congratulations! Quote
