Ghadrack Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I just cruised by the Post Orifice and picked up mine. Now, is there an instruction thread? I vaguely recall something about having a few parts that require baking again, is that right? Quote

codam23 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 got mine to. It's great work cap.. just gorgeous. Quote
Ghadrack Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I gave the instructions a bump. Out of curiousity. Lets say that there is a pretty long line of Kits on a guy's workbench ahead of this one. Would it be better to bake the parts and let them sit in the box, or wait until you are ready to start building before breaking out the cookie sheet? Quote

It shouldn't really make a difference so long as the parts, once baked, are allowed to cool to room temperature. The hardening process is permanent once the parts are cooked Quote
Model-Junkie Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Received my kit, I'm really happy with it - great casting and superb details. I won't be working on it until I've built up enough experience with resin kits. Thanks again to Grayson72 for graciously offering me his kit. Question for the Captain, how long and at what temp do we bake the high-strength polymer parts? Edited September 29, 2010 by Space_Monkey Quote

Viceland Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 First time having to cook-a-kit for me, can't wait to see the look on my GF's face; should any prep needed be done before, or can it wait till after? Quote

I'd wait to do the prep work til after the parts are cooked; the resin will sand much more easily and you won't have to worry about the heat damaging any putty. Quote
Major Focker Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 sorry if i'm a bit dense. do i have to bake everything? or just the fuselage parts shown in the first page of the instruction sheet? i'll probably need to bake this and build later as i'm not sure if the place i'm moving to will have an oven. will i need to take special precautions for storage? Quote
Model-Junkie Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Thanks Captain, I had missed a page from the instructions! Major Focker, I was under the impression that it was just the dark blue parts that needed baking. Quote

Just the dark(er) blue parts. No storage precautions necessary; just the usual common-sense stuff Quote
