BTW, without your translations........most on this site would probably be left with just the art when it comes to the Macross Chronicle....so thanks for helping us get the most bang for our buck (several hundreds of bucks worth!) via your continued translations...very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Glad that the effort is proving beneficial to others.

Couldn't agree more, I've already praised your work before but thanks again man, your efforts are invaluable and really appreciated.

Mechanic: TF SMS 07A: Macross Quarter Class Carriers: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#TMF

- a nice balance between stats and in-movie events/usage. Alas, there hasn't been that much information revealed on these "alternative" Macross Quarter Class ships in the first place, and this sheet doesn't go the extra mile and answer such glaring questions like: why is the Macross 17 attached Macross Quarter in camo?

- the RM doesn't state much beyond the obvious...

Character Ai UN 02B: Hayase Misa: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#DYRL

- quite informative. Not the least of it being the reason why Misa can decipher the Protoculture language. On the other hand, the FB related RM underlines the skill of the character designer.

History: TF 06A: The Decisive Battle At The Vajra Homeworld: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#TMF

- some interesting RMs. Not the least of it is that they give a reason why some Emigrant Fleets are (in the words of a previous page) semi-permanently voyaging in search of a suitable planet (though it doesn't go so far as explain why they don't accept less-than suitable planets). I also find it 'cute' that they avoid explicitly stating Ranka's 'true motives'. (fun fact: the kanji used for that could also be translated as "Ranka's lovers' suicide"!).

- quite an interesting write-up. The thing is loaded for bear! (and elephant, and etc..) Alas the RM on the Consumer VF-1 leaves a lot to be desired, but the main topic of the sheet and the RM on the AIF-7S and QF-4000 more than make up for it.

Episode: 7 48A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 48 "The Enthusiastic Singing Of Mylene's Tears": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7

- the topics just don't live up to the energy in the commentary - the one on Zomudo and Goramu is especially disappointing, as it doesn't delve deep enough. (The Max/Jeffrey one is a bit more palatable, but still too light for my tastes).

Episode: II 05A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II -Lovers Again- Episode 5 "Station Break" - http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MII

- these sheets are loaded with meat and potatoes. Not only do they explain the stylishness of the opening anime and this episode, but also the uniqueness of Mikimoto's character designs in this series (in short - they're not his any more!). On top of that, we get an overview of the different types of Marduk (something that the previous edition of Macross Chronicle neglected), and we're left with the delicious quandary of those non-human looking ones potentially being an entirely different alien race! And on top of that, a nice summary on the blink-and-you-miss-them mecha that appear in the episode.

- The RM is only mildly informative, and the lack of details in the data block is frustrating. That said, the changes to Tenjin's painting are quite noteworthy.

Mechanic: Ai Protoculture 01A: City Spaceship Arutira: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#DYRL

- a bit more on how Misa was able to translate the Protoculture inscriptions. The letters themselves are quite interesting - a cross between kana (Hiragana/Katakana), kanji, and Roman script.

The amount of inaccurate information going into Chronicle's coverage of Macross II is kind of upsetting (for me, anyway)... the Metal Siren that Sylvie flew was never described as a prototype in the animation materials. I'm not sure how they decided that it was, since the production art was captioned "Metal Siren Replica".

Character: 7 Citizen 02H: Mylene Flare Jiinasu: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#M7

- the RM's are a good synopsis of series events, but don't really say anything new.

Character: Ai UN 01B: Ichijo Hikaru: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#DYRL

- THIS RM actually says something new - not much, mind you. It's a nice re-analysis/summary of the love triangle.

Episode TF03A & B: Nyan Kuri -Nyan x2 Music Clip-: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#TMF

- a fairly decent summary of the release. At one point, was considering translating the whole thing, but as I'm not that big a MF fan, and as the sheet itself states - it doesn't have a story element...

Glossary 24A: Maria Velásquez Hoily - Maria Fariina Jiinasu: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php

- one big, fat, interesting question that the sheet raises is: "Is Mariafokina Barnrose truly Max and Miria's 4th daughter Therese Jiinasu?" If so, it would explain a lot of things - not the least of it, her "genius" level piloting skills in a VF-1.

Millard Johnson's paragraph was also quite insightful.

Okay wait a minute . Mariafokina Barnrose is now Therese Marifokina Formula Jiinasu… huh ..is like it was after thought . First of all in the jenuis group family picture as you can tell the twin girls have purple hair which is Therese ..second there’s another picture when she older macross 7 movie , where basara and emillia in the room , on her wall there a picture with someone with purple hair. So what you saying it change from purple to green when she got older or she dyed it.post-15717-0-07714200-1403885507.jpgpost-15717-0-95342500-1403885522.jpeg

Another thing

Miria Fariina Jiinasu
She engaged in top secret missions together with her husband Max, as a member of the Special Duty Force Dancing Skull. Although she continued to be disturbed by Max's relationships with women and their quarrels didn't cease, Moaramia Jifon -who they adopted- made the couple think about the way a family should be, and it naturally mediated their conjugal relations. [source: Macross M3]

What the hell that’s suppose to mean. Max’s RELATIONSHIP again what the hell that means, he cheat or flirted with other women. Moaraima brought the family together… Umm they didn’t adopted her until 2022 . So by this time Max and Millia already had 4 kids. So what you telling me they didn’t think about the way family should be, for over 10 years and 4 kids and conjugal relations.

sorry for being so frustrated but Jenuis are favorite characters of all time.

Might be... not "is".

What the hell that’s suppose to mean. Max’s RELATIONSHIP again what the hell that means, he cheat or flirted with other women.

Not an original notion by any means... Max's alleged infidelity is a core plot point of the entire Macross 7 Trash manga, for one, and as Max is quite popular with young women even into his fifties (see Macross 7) I can see plenty of reason for Milia to be at least a little hacked off with him.

Moaraima brought the family together… Umm they didn’t adopted her until 2022 . So by this time Max and Millia already had 4 kids. So what you telling me they didn’t think about the way family should be, for over 10 years and 4 kids and conjugal relations.

Eh... it makes sense to me. Adopting Moaramia, a Zentradi, would give both of them some perspective on Milia's situation trying to adapt to human familial norms and provide a stable family life. They did kind of rush into a wedding, after all... and during the period between their wedding and when they adopted Moaramia, they were not exactly leading a laid-back life.

Been busy this past week overhauling my translations site.

One of the major goals was overhauling the Macross Chronicle Revised Ed. - Series Guide TOC, and adding the covers to it: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php

Spiffy, eh?

On a related note, Daegostini has released the cover of #79, and there isn't a new Tenjin painting on it, either. If I'm not mistaken, we're getting another size comparison chart sheet in it, and one of the issues just before it has another "this mecha/character appeared in this episode of Frontier" sheet. >.<;;;

Posted

In a unique turn, #76 has Tenjin Hidetaka art - 5 paintings.

They're not new new ones expressly produced for MC, but if you don't have the DVD or Blu-ray sets that they were produced for (or the Valkyries books that some of them were reprinted in), then they are new. Which is where I find myself: two "new" Tenjin paintings.
