sketchley Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 RM++ Project: Complete! Mechanic: M UN 16A: QF-3000E Ghost / SF-3A Lancer II: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM - After finishing the RM, I realized that this sheet is positively loaded with goodies. It definitely makes one reevaluate the actions/tactics that one saw on screen. Quote

Especially on the original draft version of SDFM. Episode: 7 33A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 33 "Betrayal And A Girl's Tears.": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - more interesting stuff - especially on Fukuyama Yoshiki. sketchley Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Next issue (#53) looks like it has a very nice sheet: "Vanquish Race Related VFs" = "Macross The Ride". Quote
sketchley Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Complete! Gallery 7: Macross 7 #52: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRgallery/MCRgallery.php#M7 - sheet content unchanged, BUT the filing of the sheet itself was changed. What, no Macross 7 Trash in the revised edition? Goods 06: Macross Related Games 1: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRgoods/MCRgoods.php#06G - a mother load of information. I was actually surprised at the amount of revision on the front (aside from the part about the latest games). Nevertheless, a good rundown of the games, though the sheet is rather sparse in detail when it comes to the games from the 80's and earlier 90's. Quote

sketchley Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Complete! Glossary 20: VF-3000 Crusader - VF-4G Lightning III: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php - quite a few small revisions between the two editions. In addition, a lot of the translation has been tweaked or polished up. Quote
sketchley Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 RM++ Project: Timeline 39A: The Objective Of The Varohta Forces (7): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - a nice refresher of the series. Not sure if the suppositions on how Miria got her VF-1J into the Macross 7 have been mentioned before, but it is an interesting alternative to her having bought/being given it. Episode: 7 34A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 34 "The Day That Gigiru Sang.": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - some nice highlighting of the directing of the episode - as well as the background of Gigiru's VA (and how civilian Gamlin acquired his VF-17S is an interesting contrast with how Miria got her VF-1J). Episode: F16A & B: Macross F Eps. 16 "Ranka Attack": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - most interesting is the highlighting of the background characters and their in series continuity. On the other hand, was it ever mentioned in FB7 who the Protodevilun was that was visiting S.M.S.? MC gives a specific name for that Protodevilun. Quote
VF-15 Banshee Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 On the other hand, was it ever mentioned in FB7 who the Protodevilun was that was visiting S.M.S.? MC gives a specific name for that Protodevilun. Well in FB7 he quite clearly transformed into Mr. Beauty-of-being-a-furry-in-a-mecha-show, so there's that. Quote
Tochiro Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Just realised I'd forgotten to post any of the weekly screencaps for a while. Time to catch up. Hopefully these are of some help to anyone looking to decide which issues they want to buy. Some images from Issue 49 Some images from Issue 50 Some images from Issue 51 Some images from Issue 52 And finally, some images from Issue 53 Quote
sketchley Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Finally the FBz-99 is getting justice! Hopefully the other Varohta Fighters will eventually get painted, too. The page on MtR in today's issue (#53) looks like it gives a nice rundown of the serial (why couldn't the games get their own, one wonders), and it looks like there will be a B page (this page covers the VF-19ACTIVE, SV-52γ, VF-1X++, VF-0 Kai, and the YF-27-5 along with their pilots, some of the supporting characters and a Related Matter on Fasces). Oh, there's also a 3 page (!) Goods "article" on the 2009 Macross SD Launch Ceremony (rounded out with pictures of a pineapple cake of all things). Quote
sketchley Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 RM++ Project: Mechanic: Plus UN 03A: VF-11B Thunderbolt: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M+ - cleaned up the parts that I had translated (some yucky errors). No real differences between the two versions. Quote
anime52k8 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I haven't been following books too closely lately, have there been any art books that consolidate most or all of the original paintings/illustrations from chronicle issues? Quote
Mr March Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 issue_56_1.jpg :-) Very nice artwork! A great dramatic pose too. Quote
sketchley Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I haven't been following books too closely lately, have there been any art books that consolidate most or all of the original paintings/illustrations from chronicle issues? Aside from the Revised Edition? No. The closest would be "Tenjin Hidetaka Valkyries Second Sortie", and even then, there's only a handful of images from the magazine. Quote
sketchley Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 RM++ Project: Worldguide 18A: Galactic Whales: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - a nice summary of D7 in the RM. The rest of the content looks interesting (alas, time...) Quote

Mechanic: 7 UN 12A: Macross 7 Fleet Transports: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - a handful of small changes on the sheet - namely the title! (How often does that happen?) The really yucky mistranslations have also been sorted. Quote
sketchley Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 RM++ Project: History M 04B: The Zentraadi Invasion: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM - some nice summaries and expansions on background details. Timeline 40A: The Threat Of Sybil (7): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - the RM's seem like they are repeating info available on other pages... Quote
Rabidweezil Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 HLJ seems to be late putting up issue #54 for preorder. I'm sure they have their reasons, but I really wish they would put more then one issue up for preorder at a time. Quote
CrazyDude Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 HLJ can only take preorders when their distributors offer them. Distributor usually tells them the Max numbers of orders they can take, hence the order stops on popular items. Quote
anime52k8 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Aside from the Revised Edition? No. The closest would be "Tenjin Hidetaka Valkyries Second Sortie", and even then, there's only a handful of images from the magazine. That's disappointing. There's so many good cover illustrations alone that I'd love to have in a bound book without all the text and junk on top of it. Quote
lavinrac Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Seriously wondering if HLJ is stopping carrying macross chronicle? 53 is in stock and 54 is nearing a week late for their usual preorder. Anywhere else sell it? Naturally I want to keep buying from HLJ cause private warehouse is brilliant for shipping price on these thin magazines. Quote
Tochiro Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I haven't been following books too closely lately, have there been any art books that consolidate most or all of the original paintings/illustrations from chronicle issues? It's not out of the realm of possibility. Such art books were done for Tenjins work on the Yamato fact Files (a huge book btw) and for character art from the Evangelion Chronicles (not Tenjin). These were done months after the print run of their respective series ended however, whereas Macross Chronicle has another 26 issues to go. However, given the fact that some of the art has already appeared in his other art books, I think it's far more likely that we will see another one of those that includes more of the Chronicle art at some point. And if you don't have his two Macross-only books 'Valkyries' and 'Valkyries Second Sortie', I highly recommend them! Alrighty, time for some Images from Issue 54: Quote
sketchley Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 RM++ Project: Episode: M24A & B: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 24 "Goodbye Girl": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - some nice details that round out the Hayase family. Complete! Mechanic: All 01B: VF Masterpieces Seen From Their Development Ancestry (VF-17 Series / VF-19 Series / VF-22 Series): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#all - another motherload of info on VFs. Its great to start getting some substantial details on such VFs as the VF-19ADVANCE and the VF-X-10. Quote
UN Spacy Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Very behind...but I just ordered issues #31-40. Hopefully I can get #41-50 before my private warehouse at HLJ hits the 60 day limit. Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Just got issues 48-53... just in time for 54 and 55 to go live for preorder on HLJ. Loving the cover piece for 52. Quote
sketchley Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 RM++ Project: Episode: Plus 05A & B: Macross Plus Movie Edition: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M+ - the run down and analysis of some of the changes in the movie version are quite interesting. Quote
lavinrac Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Yep HLJ got it straightened out. They are really great. I just wish it was easier to communicate with them in a timely manner. But they have always done me right. Oh is there any for those who live in the US to get the binders for covers? I cant yet bring myself to break my Chronicles up into pieces.. but i imagine eventually they will start falling apart as they are designed to be taken apart. at that point I may binder them. Quote
