Also, if you're wondering what the connection between Macross and Tezuka Osamu was (like I was), then one of the topics will clear it up. Quote

nexxstrait Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) From now on, official Chronicle previews will be posted here I think (http://www.macross.jp/news/). Issue #49 is already up. Edited December 23, 2013 by nexxstrait Quote

History: F 06A: Vajra Fleet Attack: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#MF - positively loaded with goodies. Not only do we get more details on the 117th Investigation Fleet, but also a relatively specific description of Dimension Eaters. Technology 12A: Song Energy: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php - a bunch more goodies. Stuff on Dr. Chiba, the positive/negative of Spiritia, Minmei's estimated Chiba Song rating and so on. Quote
sketchley Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Issue #50 is out. Picking it up, I noticed that the SRP was missing from the cover. Initially I thought it was because they rushed the issue out, but it turns out it was removed from the 48th issue (damn Abe and the 2% consumption tax increase!) Next issue - due out Jan. 07 - stickers for binders #6 and #7 (that's the big spine number, not the smaller content stickers). Quote
sketchley Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Complete! Glossary 13A: Jun - Interstellar Republic: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRglossary/MCRglossary.php - quite MF heavy, but quite satisfying in how it rounds out life within a city-space ship. Quote

Mechanic: M UN 08A: MBR-04-MkVI Tomahawk: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#SDFM - no major revisions between the edition (though a couple of illos are larger). Especially the first 'appearances'. Episode: D704A & B: Macross Dynamite 7 Volume. 4 "The Star That Sings The Galactic Whales -Zola-": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MD7 - the highlight of the sheet is the description of what happened to Fire Bomber after D7. Yes, they made Re.Fire, but how they did it (in-universe) is still surprising. Quote

sketchley Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 RM++ Project: Worldguide 08A: The First Interstellar War: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - although the RM's add a lot of relevant tidbits to the sheet, none of them are truly 'new'. That said, the headlines do provide another way to look at the in-universe history. Quote

While this is only my opinion, I have to disagree with the RE:Fire background story being surprising, since the exact same story was printed in the liner notes of the album - unless something has been added that I'm missing? sketchley Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) Great job Sketchley, as always. You dedication to this project is humbling. While this is only my opinion, I have to disagree with the RE:Fire background story being surprising, since the exact same story was printed in the liner notes of the album - unless something has been added that I'm missing? Well, I meant the comment more along the lines of "I was surprised that they weren't in the same physical space when they made the album". Nevertheless, thanks for confirming that its the exact same story (I had suspicions that that was so from reading comments elsewhere in MW earlier in the week). Though, it begs the question: did Fire Bomber use Vajra Fold Quartz enabled Zero-Time Fold Communication in the process of making the Re.Fire album? If so, does that mean the tech is being disseminated to the point that anyone can use it? Kawamori-san: have you taken your base concept of Macross 7 and F's "Great Age Of Discovery with e-mail" and added Skype to it? Edited January 2, 2014 by sketchley Quote
sketchley Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 RM++ Project: History: TF 03A: The Battle To Capture The Vajra Nest: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#TMF - I was hoping that the RM On the Vajra and Zentraadi would give us some insight on their relationship between each other (Ie Why do they fight each other if the Protoculture worshipped one of them and created the other?). Alas, no such luck. Quote
sketchley Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 RM++ Project: Timeline 38A: Fire Bomber Dances Ahead (7): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - some interesting character stuff. Though, not really groundbreaking. Complete! Mechanic: F etc 01B: Vajra: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MF - finally the Vajra "spaceships" get a decent amount of coverage. Alas, its consistent with the M7/MF background mechanics (= lacking in specifics). The RM on the Protoculture and Vajra is a *bit* more satisfying than the History sheet I finished yesterday. And then there are the sheet's typos and editing errors... >.< Quote

sketchley Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) RM++ Project: Episode: 7 32A & B: Macross 7 Eps. 32 "Jamming Birds.": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7 - A couple of highlights on this sheet. Namely the intended meaning of the "Jamming Birds" name (damn wasei eigo!). The first battles of the Macross songstresses is also a good read. Episode: F15A & B: Macross F Eps. 15 "Lost Peace": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - more mention of the "VF-24". Is this an error? There were quite a few in the accompanying issue (obviously rushed out half a week before the usual publication date). On the other hand, it crops up thrice... The printed paper publication is also another good point. Is Macross's devolution from the Star Trek Next Generation -esque PADD in M7 to the easily recognizable print periodical to make the series more viewer accessible? Or is it a deliberate point being made about traditional forms of media? (or am I thinking too much about it?) Edited January 6, 2014 by sketchley Quote

sketchley Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Mine was "All" in front of the UN Spacy kite symbol. I'm just wondering why they waited so long to do it. #31 had a fix sticker for a page in the 20's. #51 has the sticker for the VF-14 from the 10's... Quote
sketchley Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 RM++ Project: Character M UN 03B: Roy Fokker: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#SDFM - quite a few RM's on this sheet. All of them are good reads. Not exactly ground breaking, but good summaries. Complete: Worldguide 12B: Super Long Range Emigrant Fleets: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - no changes between the two editions, but I've gone back and polished the translation. One of the mother loads of info. Quote

Surprisingly, despite a single sheet being transformed into a fold-out sheet, there is hardly any new content! Quote
sketchley Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 RM++ Project: Technology 01P: Variable Fighter: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php - the RMs seem to be just scratching the surface on what could be a mother load of info.
