sketchley Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Well colour me pleasantly surprised. This week's issue has a new Worldguide sheet - uniforms. Sure, it doesn't have absolutely every uniform that's been seen in the series so far, but it cracks the door even wider for other non-mechanic, non-episode, non-heroine gallery sheets. Quote
Tochiro Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Some images from Issue 40 (halfway done!): Quote
Can some please tell me where I can order this online for north american buyers? HLJ doesn't have it. me want one of each..... Edited October 24, 2013 by vf_1s Quote
Rabidweezil Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) I've been trying to secure one of each since they were first announced, but so far no luck. At this point I think my best bet is to hope someone puts some on eBay. That is, if I can get someone to tell me when they will actually be released. Edited October 25, 2013 by Rabidweezil Quote
sketchley Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Complete: Mechanic: F etc 01A: Vajra: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MF - turns out that the original page has been expanded into 2 (the second of which has yet to be published). It's a good thing, as the detail presented is much more satisfying (the original came up lacking). Alas, nothing truly groundbreaking. But at least the line in the first episode about jamming makes sense. RM++ Project: Mechanic: 7 Varohta 01A: Fz-109 Erugaazorun: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M7 - another single sheet that's been expanded. The RM here brings back the M7+ VF-14 from the cold. Though, it raises the possibility that the M3 Dancing Skull version may just be a unique specification, and the *real* VF-14 is something we haven't seen, halfway between the Dancing Skull and Blue Rhinoceros versions! (Though, it's more likely that the Dancing Skull version is the real one, and the Blue Rhino one is exactly as the RM describes.) Edited October 25, 2013 by sketchley Quote

sketchley Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 RM++ Project: Worldguide 28A: Uniforms: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - As usual, the stuff on the Zentraadi is quite interesting. The stuff on DYRL is..., well, confusing, and contradicts one of the pictures of the Zentraadi on the reverse side. (That said, the paragraph on the 2040 uniforms (not translated) does mention that Higgins uniform is close to that of Global's, and implies that it seems to have been the trend after SWI...) Quote

sketchley Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Anyone know of a place with issue 49 still in stock? #49 hasn't been released yet. Or are you referring to the initial release, and not the revised edition? Quote
skullmilitia Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Initial, it's the one with the VT and the VE on the cover. Quote
jvmacross Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Initial, it's the one with the VT and the VE on the cover. You can probably wait...they will probably re-use the illustration (like they have already done with others) for an upcoming cover. .. Quote

skullmilitia Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Discontinued. I guess I'll wait and hope. Also I looked through the site Sketchley, which issue had the goods report On the Yamato VT-1, I can seem to find the one with it. I have a image from a google search but I want the issue. Quote
sketchley Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 RM++ Project: History M 09A: The Battle To Return To The Earth: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM - alas, nothing groundbreaking. Quote

Timeline 31A: In The Shadow Of The Airframe Evaluation Tests (Plus): http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php - for me, the highlight of this sheet is the insight on Guld, and why certain things played out the way they did in the series. (Well, the cause is given, not necessarily what sparked it off). Episode: M17A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 17 "Phantasm": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - quite interesting, especially the insight on the production. In short, another unplanned episode, and is this the first of Kawamori's string of "bad luck"? (E.T. ripping off his bicycle in the sky idea) Quote

I especially like the commentary on the pineapple salad jinx. Very Macross-y. Complete: Mechanic: TF etc 02A: Macross Galaxy Fleet: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRmechanic/TFetc02bMacrossGalaxyFleet.php - some interesting things that round out the vilification of the Galaxy Fleet's upper management. Alas, its light on specific details... will the Galaxy Fleet's ships ever get a proper write up? Edited October 29, 2013 by sketchley Quote

sketchley Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 RM++ Project: Character F Citizen 01C: Ranka Lee: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#MF - a bit light on details, but one of the additions in the revised edition is Ranka's father in the family photo (something about his appearance him reminds me a lot of Ozuma...). Why is the Star Mirage listed under the UN Spacy faction but the Patrol Corps Mothership under etc. (Zolan Patrol)? Hope this doesn't mean more stickerratas again. Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Why is the Star Mirage listed under the UN Spacy faction but the Patrol Corps Mothership under etc. (Zolan Patrol)? Hope this doesn't mean more stickerratas again. Just throwin' out a theory here... but it could be because the Zola Patrol ship was designed and built by the Zolans, while the VF-5000s the patrol uses were purchased from the UN. Quote
sketchley Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 RM++ Project: Technology 16A: Spacesuits: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php - most interesting are the subtle changes in the Zentraadi Spacesuits RM. Complete: Worldguide 12A: Super Long Range Emigrant Fleets: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php - this is quite nostalgic for me, as the first MC page I worked on. Quite a learning curve (Japanese) and eye opening (what the VA's are *really* saying, as well as the large concepts and themes behind the series). All the errors, mis-translations and so forth are now gone (hey, it was my "first"). Enjoy. Quote

sketchley Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 RM++ Project: Episode: M 00A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Production Data: http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - yowzers. This turned into an unexpected marathon. What looked short in the revised edition, turned out to have a lot of altered (and removed!) contact compared to the original! On the other hand, comparing the two versions is interesting. I wouldn't quite say that the revised edition is "dumbed down", but more non-fan friendly. On the other hand, some of the changes are inexplicable. Quote
sketchley Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) RM++ Project: Episode: M18A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 18 "Pineapple Salad": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#SDFM - THAT epic Macross episode. Also, some of the real world effects to Fokker's death are... surprising. Episode: F12A: Macross F Eps. 12 "Fastest Delivery": http://sketchleytranslation.host-ed.me/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#MF - one of MF's iconic episodes. Alas, it more or less highlights that the portrayal of the Zentraadi in Macross has gone the route of the Klingons and other Star Trek aliens in the subsequent series. Nevertheless, the topic on the SDFM and DYRL equipment got me thinking: there's probably no in-universe reason for it, but on the visual design side, it donned on me that the moderate faction gets the relatively down to Earth SDFM Zentraadi uniforms, and the radical faction gets the more dangerous looking DYRL Zentraadi uniforms for the simple reason of easing the viewers differentiation of the two factions (neatly answering the "who am I looking at now?" questions in the uninitiated). Mr March Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Drool issue_45_1.jpg Now that's something quite different. IMO, there should be far more of these new paintings than there has been, especially for 45 issues (now 5 issues from the end of the original run of the MC). But I suppose now they will have much fewer choices but to feature new art for the remaining issues Quote
jvmacross Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Drool issue_45_1.jpg nice...all of Sound Force has now been granted a cover....good to know we can expect more new covers Quote
